Well, I'd say that Petunia's a Litlle jealous!!!! LOL. its cute though, the whole lily and james thing. I also love the enthusiasm coming from remus, he's so excited!

This actually didnt take me as long as I thought It would, so here you go! Comments and Constuctive criticism always welcomed!

Chapter 4, Making new friends

I found a compartment, and hoped James would find it too. I put my luggage in the luggage rack, and then sat down on the seat. Two seconds passed, and I lay down. Three more seconds… “Geez, this is boring.” I muttered. Just as I was about to sigh, James walked in.

“What took you so long?” I asked.

“I,” he said with a hint of gloating, “was helping a girl.” He said, putting his luggage away.

“And…?”

“A girl, Sirius!” he said as he sat down.

“So?”

“Okay, you know that muggle-born girl at Diagon Alley?” he asked.

“The really cute red-head?” I asked. He nodded.

“YOU WERE HELPING HER??” I asked a little too loudly. He just smirked and nodded. “Well, I don’t really care….I guess she’s not that cute.” I added nonchalantly. James smirked again.

“Whatever, Sirius.” He said, pulling out a Quidditch magazine. I shook my head and looked out the window.

“Looks like we’re moving.” I stated.

“Thanks captain obvious.” James teased. I glared at him for a little, but stopped when there was a small knock on the door, it slid open.

“Um, please excuse me, but there is no other compartment, so may I please join you?” the beautiful red-head asked looking at James. Immediately he sat up straighter.

“Um, uh…” he stammered.

“Yea, sure, come in.” I said quickly. She smiled gratefully, and turned to heave her luggage in. James shot off the seat and went to help her. When
she thanked him, he blushed and sat down next to her.

“I know we’ve met, but I don’t think I introduced myself. I’m Lily Evans.” The girl said, holding out her hand. I sat up and shook it.

“Sirius Black.” I told her, she nodded. James looked at me, and then turned to Lily.

“I’m James.” He told her. She nodded again.

“I know, remember?” she asked he nodded, then turned to me and smirked. He looked at Lily again, then laid down the other way, making sure there was enough room for her.

After a minute of silence, there was another knock at the door.

“Come in!” James yelled. A boy our age with brown hair walked in the door.

After looking into all of the windows of almost every compartment on the train, I finally decided to knock on one with three kids that looked about my age in it. When someone yelled “come in!” I opened the door shyly.

“Hi, everywhere else is full…can I join you?” I asked, looking around the room. a girl with red hair looked at the other boys, one with sleek black hair and the other with messy black hair, and nodded. I smiled and pulled in my luggage.
I set my luggage in the rack and sat down by the sleek haired boy. “I’m Remus Lupin.” I told him holding out my hand. He shook it.

“I’m Sirus Black, that,” he said pointing to the other boy, “Is James Potter, and that,” he pointed to the girl, “Is Lily…” he paused.

“Evans.” She finished. She smiled politely and shook my hand.
We talked for a little, about our families, and then we heard a door banging across the walkway outside our compartment. Lily looked out, then shut the door and looked around at us.

“There’s a boy out there, he looks about our age, and he doesn’t look very happy either.” She said. “Mind if I invite him in?” she asked. We all shook out heads; she turned and poked her head out of the door.

“Excuse me, would you like to join us?” she asked. She came back in with the boy following her. He was kind of plump, he had hand-me-down clothes, but he looked nice enough. Anyway, who am I to judge with my………problem…?

I walked into the compartment following the beautiful red-head girl. In the compartment there were three other boys. One with light brown hair, wearing un-ironed robes, another with sleek black hair, and one with very messy black hair. I sat down next the messy haired boy.

“Hi, I’m James Potter.” He told me holding out his hand.

“I-I’m P-Peter P-Pettigrew.” I stammered. When the other black haired boy
spoke, I turned to look at him.

“I’m Sirius Black, this is Remus Lupin,” he said pointing to the light brown haired boy, “and that is Lily Evans.” He told me pointing to the girl. I smiled and then blushed. She was so pretty.

Now usually, I’m not one to gloat, but when the new boy blushed when he looked at Lily, I had to smirk. It was really funny. Of course the girl was to sweet to laugh, so I tried not to let her see it.


The rest of the train ride continued with no more people coming into our compartment. We passed the time by telling about ourselves (Lily’s idea) and saying what house we wanted to be in. when we were almost to Hogsmeade, a voice came throughout the train, “We are almost to the station, please put on your Hogwarts robes if you haven’t already.” I looked around the Compartment, we all had. We stood up and grabbed our trunks off the luggage rack, and waited for the train to stop. When it did, we all exited together, holding on to one another’s trunks to stay together.

When we finally made it out of the train a voice belonging to a man at least three times the normal size rang out, “Firs’ Years! Over Here!” we followed the giant-man and he led us and the other first years to boats. “Four stu’ents to a boat!” Sirius, Remus, Lily, and I piled into one, then we had Peter squish in with us. The giant-man raised his hand and the boats all took off at once. We were sailing to Hogwarts.

When we got to land, I helped Lily out of the boat, and we walked up to the castle. A middle aged witch wearing emerld robes walked out of the front doors.

“You will follow me into the main entrance, and await the sorting ceremony.
Please keep quiet.” She ordered as she walked through double doors into what looked like the dining area.

I took a deep breath as the lady wearing green robes walked back into a big room. This was it…

Hope you liked it! The next one will probably a while longer to post, because I'm going to work on my other FF. I'm not going to do a sorting hat this for the first year, but I will for the seventh year. The next chapter will also be the last one from their first year, then it will start in the summer. I'll try to post in a good amount of time, but in the mean time feel free to read my other FFs...if you want.

You should write the bit after the sorting in the summer before the seventh year, because it will be interesting to see what happens when James and Lily find they are Head boy and girl.

Alright, here's the next chapter. And yes, the dark green will be our favorite potions master, and the rose will be the sweetest Gryffindor you will ever meet, Abigail Adams, AKA Lily's soon to be best friend.

Chapter 5, the sorting

We walked into the big room. There were four long tables and one long table at the top of the room. The lady wearing emerald robes walked up to the front and placed a very old and frayed wizard’s hat on a three-legged stool.

“Please gather around!” she announced. We had, the hat opened at the brim and burst out in song. I looked around and saw I was not the only first year staring in awe at the hat. When it was done telling us about the four Hogwarts houses, the lady in the emerald robes stood up again.

“When I call your name, come up to the stool and put the Sorting Hat onto your head. Alright, here we go,” she paused.

“Abbot, Jackson!” a boy with curly blonde hair walked up to the stool. He put the hat on his head and…

“HUFFLEPUFF!” it announced.

Next was a brunette girl, “Adams, Abigail!” she walked shakily up to the stool and put on the old hat. It thought for a little, then…

“GRYFFINDOR!”

I waited anxiously for my turn. I knew I would be soon.

I was right. Before I knew it the lady was calling “Evans, Lily!” and I was stumbling, terrified, up to the hat. I set the hat on my head and listened to it talking. Into my head!

“Hmm, a muggleborn with unique knowledge of magic…interesting. You would do well in Ravenclaw. But I also see bravery. Yes, a lot of bravery. Then it better be…” I took a deep breath.

“GRYFFINDOR!” he announced. I smiled and hopped off the stool. I guessed that the table that was cheering was the Gryffindor table, so I went to join it.
I sat down by one boy I sat by on the train, Sirius Black.

Soon everyone was sorted. The boys that I sat by on the train all ended up in Gryffindor, and a strange black haired boy that lived by me was sorted into Slytherin.

Soon enough the big feast was over, and the first years were being led to their dormitories. Here comes the first day of the rest of my wizard life…

I gasped unconsciously as I walked into the great hall. My parents had told me about it, but I never imagined it had been like this. All the new kids got jumbled into a crowd in front of an old wizard’s hat. I knew what was coming, so I wasn’t surprised-unlike a lot of other people- when the hat started singing.

When it was done, the lady I could already tell was going to be annoying in the emerald robes stepped up.

“When I call you r name, come up to the stool and put the Sorting Hat onto your head. Alright, here we go,” she paused.

“Abbot, Jackson!” she called. A short boy put on the hat.

“HUFFLEPUFF!” The hat shouted.

I was relieved when Sirius became a Gryffindor. I had a feeling that he would be in Slytherin, just like the rest of his family.

Soon it was the Evans girl’s turn. I waited anxiously, and breathed out a sigh of relief when she became a Gryffindor. I smirked when she went to sit with Sirius.

First year after first year went up to the hat. I was happy to see that everyone I met on the train was sorted into the same house: Gryffindor.
Then it was my turn.

“Potter, James!” The lady called. I put the hat on. It wasted no time in realizing I was a Potter, so it said:

“Of course, I should have known you were coming soon. It better be,

"Gryffindor!” I smirked and went to join Lily at the table.

Being the second person to be sorted was kinda nerve-racking. I was sorted into Gryffindor, just like my mum. A girl named Lily Evans sat across from me, and gave me a genuine smile. I smiled back. I think we will become great friends.

Wow. That girl. Amazing. Lily. Evans. I know her. I’ve talked to her before. Twice. Really cute. And nice. So nice.

Darn, Gryffindor. That might be a problem.

Great. I’m in Slytherin. I knew it would be a problem. But I know Lily. That won’t matter to her. She’s a reasonable girl. Maybe we can become good friends.

Gryffindor. Good. I was scared for a bit when the hat said he was thinking about putting me in Slytherin. As soon as he announced I was in Gryffindor, I hopped off the stool as quick as I could, as if not giving the hat time to rethink itself. I practically ran to the red and gold clad table. When James came to sit down I gave him a high five and we waited for the rest of first years to be sorted. When they were done we listened to the headmaster talk, then we headed up to our dorms.

Like I said, next chapter will be the summer before the marauder's sexenth year. I will give a bit of back round information, so everthing kinda ties in. Hope you like it!
