I have a question - are we writing for a specific age group? and if so does this mean there has to be a rating in the title?

Can two members collaborate on a story and enter it together, providing they both don't enter a further seperate story each?

This question has me stunned that we didn't think to cover it in the rules before. So, well done for finding a missing piece. To answer you, since this contest is open to everyone on the site, SS Board Rules will apply. The Board Rules say to keep everything PG. Write so that you could show it to your 9-10 year old cousin and not blush. No need to put a rating in the title because all stories should be PG.


Sure - but what if you win? Only one can get the prize. So, if you two can work out an agreement for the 'if we should win' scenario, then sure. We can't actually prevent anyone from working together, but we do appreciate you asking first. What a doll you two are.

Can we use names from the JK Rowling story... By this can we use like for example the family name Hufflepuff but nothing to do with the story of JK Rowling?

Unfortunately, no. All characters need to be original and using the Hufflepuff name wouldn't be original, but from the imagination of JK.

okey one more question... When does the voting starts?

Not until we've received all of the entries in June.

okay this is a two part question. Firstly, will the prize involved be something to do ON the site, or will it be something in reality? Secondly, are we aloud to use the school hogwarts and it's houses?

does it really have to be 1000 words max? The story that I've written is almost 2000. Will i need to cut it down?

The second question: Nah. Let's stay away from anything related in any way (other than being set in the wizarding world) to JK characters, places, people, etc. Besides, how many fairy tales do you know that reference real places?

Yes, 2000 words is too many. However, I can tell you right now that we're not going to sit and count each and every word. We know about how long the story should look, about how long it should take to read. If it looks too long, or if it's taking us much longer to read than the other stories - then we WILL check and possibly disqualify you. If you're a little over, I'm sure it'll slip by us - but a 1000 words we'll notice for sure. Don't go 100 words over the limit would be my advice.

I was wondering, if you wanted to join the contest but not get the prize, could there be some way of donating the money to a charity or your choice in SS's name?

We already have the prize in our possession, so where donating the money to a charity is a very sweet thought, it's not possible. But, if the winner of the contest does not wish to receive the prize, we'll work something out with them at that time.

No way. It's a prize! We'll ship it to you if you win.

No, no. You need to write an original story - one thought up all by you. It was J.K. that thought up the tale about the elder wand and such. You should write a story that is out of your own brain.

Can you tell us how many stories you have till now and can if we submitted our story can we edit it?

I'm not going to tell you how many stories have been submitted so far, but we can allow you an edit. HOWEVER - each member may get ONE edit. Only one. We'll delete your previous entry and replace it with the updated version.

Well, yes. You can edit your story, big or small, once and resubmit it.
