Is there something bugging you that wasn’t answered in the Welcome to Florean Fortescue’s thread? Feel free to ask any remaining questions you may have in this thread. Please read (or at least skim) the thread first before asking any questions you may have. It does not make any sense to post a question that was already asked.

To avoid certain questions from being posted repeatedly, here are a few of the most common questions that the fan club moderators are asked:

How do I join a fan club?
Steps on how to join a fan club can be found here. Just follow the steps and you will be a member of your favourite fan clubs in no time!

Why doesn’t XX have a fan club?
We are always looking for new fan clubs here at Florean Fortescue’s. Even though we would love to have a fan club for every character and actor in the Harry Potter franchise, this would cause a lot of mayhem if they were just given out randomly. Anyone who wishes to start a new fan club must go through the same process the current existing fan clubs have gone through.

How do I start a new fan club?
If you are interested in starting a new fan club, please read the Request thread for more information.

When will the request thread be open?
There are no specific dates for when the request thread opens. Usually new fan club requests are taken sporadically throughout the year. The global fan club moderators will make an announcement when they decide to open the thread.

What exactly is an ode?
An ode, simply put, is a poem of celebration dedicated to an individual. Basically, it is just a way of expressing your admiration. We all know that not everyone is a poet, so it is not mandatory that you have to write up a poem for an ode. Simply tell us why you think so-and-so deserves their very own fan club.

How do I become an officer?
You can find out how to apply for a position in the fan club’s announcement thread when new officers are wanted. Normally you have to send in an application to show that you are interested, if there are any open officer positions. Every fan club is different, so make sure you know what the fan club moderator and president(s) are looking for.

What does an XX officer do?
The responsibilities of all officer positions of a fan club can be read here. Please make sure you have read and understand each of the officer responsibilities for the officer position you are interested in for before applying.

Are we alowed to send in the "applicaitons" for being officer/co-president for more than 1 club?

You are allowed to apply for, and become, the co-president for more than one club. If you have several characters/actors you love, go ahead and apply for all of them .

hi! my names niky, and me and these other 2 people i made friends with on SS want to create a new club. We want to call it WAP [Weird And Proud] and it will be a theard where one can say the most absurd and ridiculous things. i was planning on allowing spam and it will kinda be a Chat Thread. I don't even know if im allowed to do this, can i? and if i can, where do i create it and how? do i just click "new thread" under The Three Broomsticks?

We have plenty of chat threads.... a whole forum of chat threads actually. Plenty of weird people in the St. Mungo's forums and the TP. I suggest you go there to be weird and chat.

are you aloud to double post if no one else is on in the club and u have infomation on the fan club your in?

I have a question. When you go into Group Memberships, in your Use CP, what does it mean by User Title? All of mine say Goblin Liason. Is it referring to tags, if you have any, and saying Goblin Liason if you don't?

i have a question it saids on my user CP that i am in the Emma Watson fan Club but i look on their member list and i'm not their. its been like that for a month now. what can i do about it?

This is a ranking system, like the one you have for post counts. You moved up! haha.
I can tell you from experience that it's very hard to keep the member list updated all the time. PM a president and let them know you'd like to be added, but other than that be patient. As long as you are listed in the club in your profile, then you are in it and have all the capabilities other members do in the club.

Question:

What happens when two people request the same FC?

Well, if I understand you correctly there are two things. First of all, if there are two people who are working on trying to get a new fan club started, you can either work together to gather the names and such or not. When the request thread is opened and you are working together, state it in the thread that you both gathered all the information so that you both get credit for the fan club.

If we want to start a fan clun shoudl we start getting names now? or should we wait until the thread is open?

Nah. You can start gathering members (not names alone..Hehe) and Odes.

Okies.... I was wondering how to go about getting the Gary Oldman FC it's own place opposed to being a thread within the SBFC .... I was a bit disappointed I do loves me some Gary

annnnd.... How long can I expect it to take to hear back about applications for Officer positions within the FCs?

Hope no one minds my answering this,

I'm not sure about the first question ... But so you know, Gary isn't the only Actor who's thread is found in his character's FC forum. My personal opinion might be that there was enough activity when the FC was created to warrant one, but not enough for it to be in its own forum. I would recommend starting with the sponsor and working to get the club more active.. If it's deemed active enough (and you meet the qualifications outlined in the rules) then you can get Gary his own forum

As far as hearing back about officer positions; every club is different. If it's been more than a couple weeks (and there is no deadline), send a PM to the sponsor and/or other officers and ask about it ^__^

why can't i join the severus snape fan club i clck join group but then it takes me to a blank page also the only group leader hasn't got on ss since last year their name is squibby

Weird. I will point this out to our fan club admin, LadyNerd, who will fix this for you as soon as she can. As for the group leader, that will need to be changed, which only the fan club admin can do. Thank you for pointing this out!

Okay! We discovered what the problem was and now I am the group leader. Sorry! It works now but if you have an issue, let us know again.

So like the request thread for new fan clubs, it's closed. if i want to request where do i go?

To request a fan club, you would have to post in this thread with a list of members who are interested in starting the club. At the moment it is closed, and there isn't a set date or anything as to when it'll be opened again. Just keep an eye on it and it may be open one day. Until then, you can start getting a list of at least 25 members who are interested in starting the club that you wish to start and collect 10 odes.

What is the role of the Activities Officer?
I know they organise the different games and activities but how do they do it?
I'm just so confused

An activity officer comes up with games, contests, challenges etc. that can boast up activity in a fan club. They then discuss their idea with the president[s] of the FC and, once they've been given the green signal, announce the activity in the fan club forum.

Any FC officer generally help out with FC duties, but also have catered duties. Birthday Officers help keep track of the club members birthdays and wish them well on those days, and also keep track of the club characters' birthday and help other officers by doing something on the birth day. Like an event, or give aways, they can come up with fun stuff
