I wasn't crazy about Luna at first but she really grew on me.
She is kind, funny, stands firm in her beliefs and has a good heart. Luna is very perceptive about human nature, and Harry often notes her knack for blunt honesty. But that is something Harry needs as he tends to take people on face value.
