mark evans (dudley beat him up, remember "he gave me cheek) or somethin. so are they related??
so i was thinking maybe due to what voldemorts was doing the evans family didn't want anything to do with wizards...etc. so they told lilly to stop whatever, and it didn't go too well with them that lilly married james. so when they died, they didn't want to take care of harry, cause they were afraid of what he may become...BE PATIENT... so you ask why would petunia take care of him? be cause when dumbledore sent th howler it DID NOT say:
"remember THE last..." as in the last meeting we had
or
"remember our last" as in our last meeting we had

he destinctly said "remember MY last" as in MYBE my last payment or warning. i say maybe warning because what's her face madam bones (harry's judge at the disciplinery hearing) said that the ministry of magic keeps a watch over privet drive especially because of...because of past events or something!!! meaning somethin horrible happened there and petunia keeps harry for her protection as well as his...because you know harry can kill voldi.....

i noticed that the black family have life like portraites...did sirius have one? i mean she built up (jk i mean) sirius's charecter for what? to simply insist that harry is an orphan? or because she wants to make us sad? i don't think siriuss' part is over quite yet...who knows.

p.s: anybody noticed that when harry isn't pressuring himself and is kinda blurting out whatever crosses his mind happens to be right in the story? example: in prof.trelawny's test in poa book about buckbeak...even though he was sure buckbeak will lose the trial and he wanted to get a good mark in th test...he insisted the buckbeak got away...there r more examples but not enough energy....
oooh and i think in history test he did do oclummency!! when he wished he could "open a window in her mind" to find out the answer...who knows, maybe thats the power he got from his mom, remember: " he gothis mom's eyes..."

Your missing one thing. In the first book, Lily's sister Petunia said that her parents were PROUD the day she got her letter (Lily I mean). So they could not of hated Lily being a witch. It wouldn't make sense. Unless they starting hating something about it, but then Petunia would of said that already, for she would love having her parents hate lily.

Oh, and wouldn't Dumbledore have told Harry about some distant relations he had with some other kids. He already is upset with himself for holding the other secrets to himself for all that time.

You know what struck me about the Mark Evans thing? Well, Mark Evans is 10. Hogwarts students start there at 11. Maybe we'll see him in the new school year?

i think i know why mcgonagall gave him cookies or biciuts when they were in her office! Maybe the cookies contained the Draught of Peace !

im a bit sceptical about the mark evans thing....i will admit tht it is unlikely jk wud 'slip-up' and use the same surname for two supposedly unrelated characters (lily and mark evans) especially considering that lily is a relatively major character....but i thnk alot in book 5 shows tht jk is bcumin mor aware of the probin readers...and how they are progressin in their literary skills (vocabulary for example in book 5 compared wiv SS is much more advanced).....i think tht jk will be addin a few mor 'red herrings' into the books....maybe mark evans is another....? :whisle:

first i want to tell anyone who hasn't read it already to go out and buy the ultamate unofficial guide to the mysteries of Harry Potter. Once your done with it you will be able to interpret things sooo much easier.

Okay so..... I like the mark evans thing. But what im really still questioning is would dumbledore really have told Harry everthing? Hes already proven he can go a LOOOOONNNNNGGGGGGGG time without telling something really important to Harry. But how important is it to Dumbledore to tell Harry that he has another cousin and aunt and uncle that he can't even live with until he kills voldemort cuz of the ancient magic. Plus how safe would that be. (the poor guy did just get beat up.) JK also likes to keep us suprised so I wouldn't rule anything out.

red herrings mean like....errr....sort of misdirecting somebody into thinking something wrong/opposite...so j.k can surprise us...u know get us to think of something but then tada! it's different! so we keep on getting surprised...?sorry i'm not very good at defining things...

i'm sure the following is no new news that dumbledore's bro is gonna turn up in the story either 6 or seven. u'know aberforth? right why, u ask? because in the first book she said hagrid borrowed the motor bike from hagrid....boom, a few books later he is one of the main charecters. she has mentioned aberforth two times, so he is due. he is strange and did something illegal to a goat, and in book 5, the ministry of magic has a department for illegal mixing or breeding whatever of animals(check book 5, when mr weasly talks to a strange guy holding a box). and i read that in greek mythology there is a creature part goat, part lion and part snake...maybe? no? anyways...aberforth is due to showup and i read somewhere a theory saying he is the guy at hogshead harry thought "looked familier"...
oh and i think collin creavy is gonna backstab harry and/or his friends like wormtail did. neville is NOT like wormtail he is loyal and brave...he doesn't follow ron,harry,hermy around...however collin does follow harry around and he certainly looks the part...very mousy indeed.

i still think that maybe Lily was the divination teacher
cuz dumbledore needed a new teacher just b4 harry was born (she could have been on maternity leave, and didnt get to go back, cuz she died soon after. Dumbledore might have jsut been looking for a temporary replacement, so thats why he settled on trelawney) and that would be why harry's eyes are so important that he has the same as Lilys, if he has 'The Eye', i think that would make sense
and maybe the dursleys were the nicest relatives that harry had, and Mark Evans' family are evil... :angrysmile: that could be why he was 'giving dudley cheek'
or maybe they arent blood related, only law, and thats why harry needs to stay with the dursleys, cuz petunia's blood can protect him
