Bah.. If she isn't in OoTP, she probably won't be in HBP... Remember... the book is humongous and they didn't have Percy or Ludo Bagman in GoF.... Aah... That would be sweet for her to be in the movie and for you to play her!! If there happens to be an audition... good luck! If I was British and actually lived near one of the auditions, I would so go... But I'm not...

But she has to be there. I mean, who would tell Umbridage about DA. Some one must do and she must be Mareitta because Harry and Cho will argue because of her.

They didn't cast her, I believe. She would be any girl. I am not even sure she'll be mentioned. Because they don't go into detail in the movies, and they often change the plot. So I don't think there will be a Marietta but you never know...

I think they cut the part of Marietta Edgecomb. I don't think they thought she was important enough. I mean, they could easily just have the DA be found out my the Inquistorial Squad some other way...though it'll be a bit more difficult to explain how Cho and Harry fell apart because Marietta was a big part of that.

I'm pretty sure they did cut her, as the DA photo that's come out has got no person that could be Marietta Edgecombe. I think they might give the role she has to the blonde boy "slightly doubtful boy" as he's credited in the picture. We'd know him as Zacharias Smith, I believe.

From what it sounds like, Marietta will not be a part of OOtP, which, to me is a big disappointment as she was such a factor in the DA's betrayal to Umbridge. But the part I'll miss the most is Hermione's curse of the pimples.....SNEAK, I think it was! That was hilarious and it also played a factor in the distancing of Cho and Harry's relationship! What about Dumbledore taking the blame after Marietta squeels? Will they take that out too, or change it around someway? By the way, does anyone know when the film is due out? Will it be this year, yet, or next spring?

They can just as easily give the role to another character, much like they cut out Dobby and gave his tole to Neville in GoF.

Agreed.. I don't think too that they will make Marietta and this is annoying cause they should at least stick to the plot Jo had written.

Taking Marietta out of the movie won't change the plot, to be honest. The plot is Umbridge, her rules, Harry teaching DADA secretly, and the fight at the ministry.


In the same light, one could say that Dobby's giving Harry the gillyweed was a factor in the challenge. It worked with someone else then, and changing the character for Marietta will work too.



I think you've just touched on the one thing everyone is actually disappointed about.

I have heard that they have cut Marietta. I am soo sad. We'll will never see her purple pimples, her curly red blonde hair. The problem is, that if people go to the film without reading the books, like my pa, you will leave feeling very confused, like in 4. My pa was like "how come he's (barty jr) out of prison?" I had to explain it to him. gud luck everyone who has non hp family!

Good point, mate. This is the problem..Changing in the plot leads to misunderstanding and this is not a good thing
i know that she is not very important but I think if they will made Umbridge discovers about DA , it will be better if they had made Maritta the one who was dishonest and Maritta also was the one of the reasons Harry and Cho had argued

U ppl are right...nobody who hasn't read the books cannot understand the movie.....Marietta has to be in the movie becoz she won't they will get another member of D.A to be dishonest which would be really bad....


But I think they will let Malfoy or another Slytherins to leak out the information some way....

Marietta won't be in OotP. Have you sen the D.A. pictuire? No Marietta. I think she should be in the movie, though! They need a lot more members for the D.A. in the movie. 'Cause in the D.A. picture, the D.A. looks a little ... empty.

Marietta wasn't that vital to Harry and Cho falling out either. Their "relationship" (if one could truly call what they had a relationship) was rocky and a failure from the start.

If they cut her thats really dumb and out of the question.

Ooh, I was disappointed that they never cast Marietta Edgecomb in the movie. I thought it was a brilliant part, and I would have loved to see how they would do the "SNEAK" pimples across her face. And Hermione's jinx on the DA paper was a stroke of genius. So I wish they had had that part in the movie.

Marietta wasn't even in the film. It was like she didn't exist. Cho told umbridge about the DA because of the viritesirum.

It was sad that she wasn't in the film. It didn't even make sense when it was Cho who told Umbridge. Why would Cho tell her? And Snape was suppose to give her fake veritasm!
