Default Ollivanders Counter

Ollivanders is a long and narrow shop, with impossibly tall and crooked shelves making up the majority of its space, but this is as far as the Wizarding public are permitted to go unaccompanied. Here is the counter, a thick, rustic slab of darkest mahogany, worn smooth from years of use. On top of the counter sits an old fashioned brass cash register which seems to have a mind of its own. It toots and whistles and lets off steam as purchases are entered into it and the drawer pops out jauntily to receive payment, and if anyone tries to get into it, an obnoxious caterwauling charm will go off. Best not to try, it knows how to defend itself.

On the wall next to the counter there is an inventory board, which lists every product sold and service provided at Ollivanders aside from the wands themselves. If you wish to buy a holster, or any polishes or wand care products, this is where you should look. The products themselves are displayed on the racks and in baskets attached to one side of the counter.

OOC: If you are here to receive a wand, please post in the Wand Fitting thread first and wait for a response from the Ollivanders staff.

"Congratulations! You have been paired with an Elder wand." JAZZHANDS! No, really... it was one of the most rare woods legally available for purchase. And it went without saying that it was equally as powerful, as it was difficult to obtain. "Not to be confused with the Elder wand from the history books. That wand allegedly contained the hair of Death. Capital 'D'." Allegedly, because history could be a touch flowery at times. "... but when you strip the core away, what you're left with is a wood that is deceptively adaptable. It will depend heavily on your own temperament, of course, but you won't find a better companion for defensive magic and healing spells..." But it could also go in the opposite direction with dark magic and curses. Florian chose to leave that part out of his spiel.

"A Dragon heartstring, taken from a Swedish short-snout, is encased within. Dragons are protective creatures and as fierce as they are loyal. Your defensive magic will get a noticeable boost, as well as any spells that are fire-based." The wandmaker paused, for several moments before speaking again. "It's a great responsibility to have a wand of this nature. And shouldn't be taken lightly." Bless this child's parents.

"You'll need accessories, sooo what shall it be?"

Elder wand... THE Elder wand? Curtis wasn't what one called a studious child but he did remember at his Primary School one of his lessons on wands and the story of the most powerful wand. The rest of the shopkeeper's words were fading in and out as he eyed it with such satisfaction. It was true. He WAS the best.

So it was good for defending, healing, and fire spells. And then after hearing the making of it... Curtis knew he had to keep part of this a secret. Do you know how jealous would be to hear he had the best wand? He wasn't going to let anyone try to take his wand. So with that he looked up at the man. "I understand.. sir." Yeah, he had to be polite. He didn't know if this was a test and he had to show that the wand should stick with him.

Accessories though? Curtis blinked. Well, guess I do need some stuff to keep it nice. That would explain the extra money he got before entering in here. "Er... some Wand Polish and a nice wooden box to go with it.. Please." Nice and simple as he smiled sweetly. Daddy always said not to flaunt your power.... much. Hehe.

At least, that's what the Rowan wood dictated from history. It was hard to know the future unless you were a Seer, so he supposed anything was possible. He hoped for good things in this young lady's future, however. "Wonderful! Golden sparks are definitely a good sign, so good job!" Now for the spiel about this wand in particular. Hmmmm. "You're holding ten and a half inches of Rowan wood, a wood that has significant power where magical shields and wards are concerned." So... this young girl would be quite successful in a duelling arena, if she so chose to follow that path. He remembered his duelling days. Fun times!... What else...? "Something special about this wood... You'll have power in warding off spells that affect the mind, which is super helpful considering that's most charms." He grinned at her, amused at her happiness. Good for her.

"The Fwooper feather within will cause some issues in casting Quietus, a charm to muffle sounds, but... otherwise, it's a wonderful all-purpose wand to have in one's possession."

"Can I get you accessories?"

Written: 10 1/2 inch spinnable Rowan with Fwooper Feather
Jade beamed. The golden sparks were awesome - she was glad that it was a good sign. She listened with rapt attention as the wandmaker spoke about the wand that chose her. Ten and a half inches... Rowan wood... Fwooper Feather core... Even the sound of these words seemed perfect to her. She did not mind that the feather would impede her use of Quietus (she could always order somebody else to do it for her) and was extremely happy that she would be able to cast powerful magical shields.

"Thank you," the girl said in her sweetest voice when the man finished explaining the qualities of the wand... HER wand. She couldn't believe she was selected by a wand so quickly. Held tightly in her hand was her wand, her magical companion for, hopefully, her entire school life and beyond. It was HERS.

Of course she would get accessories! "I'll have a purple leather case, please!" Her eyes paused on the list of novelty products available for sale. She REALLY wanted to get some of the trick wands so that she could prank her dad and Layla, but they only gave her just enough money to buy her new wand and a case to go with it. They knew her too well. She COULD get a basic wooden box and use the remaining Galleons to buy some trick wands... but she also wanted a nice case for her very first wand...

UGH. She would have to pass up the pranking opportunity this time.

While attempting to clean up a rather stubborn stain in a guest room either that morning, her wand began to sputter and shake. A terribly worrisome response from her wand of many many years. If a witch can’t trust her wand, what can she trust?

Armed with her wand, a bag of galleons, and a lot of hope, Lucy entered Ollivanders and headed for the counter. If there was anyone that could figure out what was going on, and fix her beloved wand, it was Ramiel.

“Good afternoon. I do believe I’m in need of your wand restoration services. Something has gone amiss with my wand.“ She gently placed her wand, 11 inches long and made of holly with a phoenix feather core, on the counter.

He had things quite nicely sorted now, did Ramiel Skeres. Easy to get his ducks in a row when he was literally living in the store. Well, not in the store itself, but in the back room. The most important thing had been getting systems in place, a bit of regularity. And err... a few less plants. Just a few. He did like them well enough but it was a bit too much the herbology shop with the flowers everywhere and easier to keep tidy with less of them. He had kept a few here and there though.

The little bell over the door that tinkled to let him know he had company was enough to see Ram poke his head out from behind the curtain separating the back room from the shop proper. He stepped out, a steaming coffee mug in hand.

"Oh, hello Lucy." Ram eyed the wand when she put it on the counter and took a big loooong sip of his coffee and examined it without yet touching it. "Something amiss? What's been happening, if you don't mind me asking?"

She watched as Ramiel eyed her wand, hopeful he would be able to fix whatever was wrong without too much of a fuss. Lucy remembered many years ago when her sister had an issue with her wand and it was a major ordeal trying to put it right.

"This morning as I was cleaning up a bit, it began to sputter and shake with a simple cleaning spell." She put her hand to her chin. "Come to think of it, it also happened last week while doing inventory. I was so busy at the time that I almost didn't notice. But, yes, it was most certainly not acting as it should." She sighed. The World Cup was coming and she had more work than ever to get completed before the guestrooms were filled beyond capacity.

"Do you think you might be able to get her back up to snuff? She's a great wand." If anyone would be able to, she was sure it was Ramiel.

Cleaning. Okay. Ram considered things, his brow furrowing beneath his glasses. He bent down to get on eye level with the counter top and the wand, still not touching it.

"Do you use any magical cleaning products when you're cleaning?" There were a few different ones on the market that people liked to use after all. "And what were you cleaning, exactly? Er... I just need to ascertain what in the environment might be contributing to the problem." He added, not meaning to be nosy.

11 inches of Holly, he noted. Holly could be troublesome sometimes. It was known.

Magical cleaning products. That would be a big yes. She hesitated for a moment before answering. "Well, I did purchase a bottle of Super Spot Out from a gentleman at the carnival last summer. I'm not exactly sure what it's made of, but he guaranteed it to get out the toughest of stains." Lucy wondered if purchasing an unknown cleaner from a carnie had been the best idea, but she loved supporting the little guy trying to make it on his own.

"I was trying to remove a rather stubborn red wine stain from the sandy fawn colored carpet." She exhaled slowly. "Installing light colored carpet in the guestrooms wasn't my brightest idea." It was rather shocking how easily they would stain and nothing bothered her more than a guestroom that looked dirty.

"Super Spot Out." Ram repeated and straightened up. He muttered it a few times under his breath and rummaged until he-- "Ah, here! Let me see." He flipped through a well-thumbed journal and scanned the handwritten entry. "Known to contain Bubotuber Pus, and Spiky Bush juice, which interact in a nasty manner, and can cause problems for some cores if they are exposed to the fumes. Which suggests.... we may be dealing with a hairline fracture or crack of some kind, and--" Now that he knew it was safe to do so, he picked her wand up and examined it up close, "Phoenix Feather is certainly a core that is often unstable, especially in a Holly wand. I can see you've not been applying any type of protection salves and oils to your wand. Well. This is fixable and a preventable problem." He looked up at her. "Are you able to do without your wand overnight?."

Ramiel put her wand down carefully on the counter again and took out several different jars, all clearly labelled. "Lets see.... conditioning oil, strengthening oil, barrier oil... these would all be good for you to use. However I think I can tweak it somewhat to make a salve that is specific to your needs. Give me the afternoon to work on it, and I'll apply the first treatment tonight, and leave it until morning to be sure it sets in, and then I can bring your wand by before breakfast, along with the products you'll need to maintain its condition. That is, if that's agreeable to you."

Vitaliy wouldn't come with her. He said that in this situation it's best to throw her into the deep end and force her to swim. Tehilla knew how to swim, but these were really stormy waters and she was afraid of drowning. He'd at least known about magic, he is magic. She... well.

Diagon Alley was nothing like the quiet streets of the Old Town part of the city she grew up in. It was crowded and people touched each other all the time and it was so much colder. She walked around with a big coat that would be more appropriate for the winter season, a long skirt and thick gray tights. Tehilla avoided walking into the wand shop for as long as she could, but she started getting hungry and needed Vitaliy to take her to eat at an appropriate place.

The wand shop it is. ... Ollivander's.

"Mr. Ollivander?" Tehilla said quietly as she stepped through the door, and blinked. It was full of little people, adults, families with excited smiles and glowing faces, eager to get their children wands. The sight almost made her tear up. It was a rite of passage, getting a wand. She hadn't really realised it until she saw the way the children's faces shone as they received their wands.

The fourteen year old bit her lip, and walked towards the counter. "Excuse me?" She gingerly pulled out the wand she currently had, an old one of Vitaliy's that she'd need to return, and nervously waited for someone to turn to her.
