| Who is the best director??
Until now there are 3 directors who made HP four movies??? What do you think is the best one and who tried to do the books as they are??? And why you didn't like the other two?? What they made to make you not thinking they are not so good??

the guy who made the third movie was pretty good as he stuck to the story a lot as compared to the other directors who gave their own versions.

| go sir Mike I think Mike was the best. He did a very good job!
now, see, GoF is like incompletely complete.
the essence of the book is there.
next is Chris.
He did a good job as well but comparing the books, the SS and CoS book was thin compared to GoF. I mean, he doesnt have a choice but to put everything in the movie though he did cut some things, those things are very tiny infos. so tiny that one wouldnt even notice that it was missing in the film. Alfonso.
what has he done to PoA..
there's very little in the movie!
though, I must admit, the added R/Hr moments was really brilliant!
I dont hate any of the directors.
in rating, I like Mike the best then Chris then Alfonso.
they're 3 different directors. they have their own directing styles.

I like Mike who directed the fourth movie the best. He stuck to the original plot of the movie and i love the way it turned out.

My favourites are Mike and Alfonso. Chris' versions, while literal, were lacking in something which the others weren't.

I liked Mike the least cause it was so incomplete to me,he jumped from one thing to another, it was like there weren't any classes, homework, that ron, hermione and all the other students just visited for the tournament, not to mention important things that were left out or out of place. I mean like putting Barty Crouch Jr. in from the first moment, I mean who didn't read the book knew very fast who the bad guy was ( I went to see it with thre persons that didn't read the book, not even half way through the movie they were saying how the young nutter in the beginning is the old nutter in school)
I didn't dislike the fourth movie but of the four movies I definitely liked it the least.
My fav was POA : I think it sticks closer to the book and gives a real darkness, everyone that had to be in was there and that made it good. I didn't feel like something was missing, even though it wasn't completely into depth.
So fav is Alfonso (POA) then Chris, and last Mike.

I guess I'll take the contrarian view and say Chris Columbus is my favorite. He had the hardest job of all three I think, simply because he had to establish a completely new world. Since Chris had laid the foundation, Alfonso Cuaron and Mike Newell didn't have to establish an entire backstory, and they had a freer hand in maybe conveying the theme of the books, but overall I think they took too many liberties with PoA and GoF. I understand the need for each movie to stand on their own to attract new audiences, but I would have preferred a tighter sense of continuity. I also don't like how details where sacrificed for the sake of movie efficiency. Yeah, they may seem like small details at the time, but they play a bigger role later on in the series.
Overall, from a sense of continuity to faithfulness to the books, I think Chris did it better.

I liked Chris as he he was making the movie as the story but it was abit childish. I think may be because the books weren't too serious.
I didn't like some changes Mike and Alfonso had done but they are good.

I definately like Mike the most. I think he did the best job taking all of the material ( he DID have the biggest book) and making it coherent enough for those who've never seen or read the other ones to follow. 2nd would be chris because he started the movies. Last would definately be Alfonso... I was severly dissapointed by the graphics, especially Lupin the werewolf. Totally not scary.

I think Mike Newell and Chris Colombus were definetly the best ones. I didn't like PoA much, there were too many pieces missing.

Chris did a good job bringing the first two moves into the world! He really got everything in the books into the movies! |

Hogwarts RPG Name: Jenna Reetz | Well of course I do love all three directors but if I had to pick I would have to say that either Chris Columbus ar Mike Newell were the best. Don't get me wrong though, I still love Alfonso.

I believe that Mike Newell is the best director yet because he made Dan cry, which Alfonso wasn't able to. He pushed the actors' emotions pushed to the limit and I believe that that's what made it a very well-directed film PoA screenplay is better.

Overall, from a sense of continuity to faithfulness to the books, I think Chris did it better. *Nods in agreement* Exactly! Chris completely followed the books as close as anyone possibly could in my opinion... the third and fourth where just way to... err... butchered in mostsome of the scenes... especially PoA... it moved way to fast for my liking and the ending was like way out of place, but it was still good in most of the parts... I think they should have included a lot more in PoA and GoF and made the film a two or three disk thing.

I love all HP movies.
But concerning the books, the 3 first ones were OK, but God, Mike Newell changed too much
And I dont support such a changes in a movie based on a book.
GOF movie changed too much, but it´s not the worst movie based on a book I have seen (There are worst ...indeed!!) but it´s the first HP movie to be that way different from book.
Alfonso Cuarón was OK, he wasn´t exactly as the book (C Columbus did it, OK), but what he did respected or improved the book (Well, I have seen what is worst) and that´s OK

Alfonso changed the look of the HP movies and i love how he made things sinister and tiny background details he gave the film but I do prefer Mike Newell's approach as GOF was very british and had loads of realness in it, but Iloved Philosophers stone, ididtn like chamber of secrets as much, I think it was nbecuse the colour of the screen was too light and Alfonso changed that, my favorites goes
Mike Newell
Alfonso Cuaron
Chris Columbus

Mike Newell is my fave!! He did an awesome job on the Goblet of Fire film....that's the best movie so far!! Chris did a good job on trying to keep Harry first and second year as much as possible but a few things were lacking from them.....and Alfonso took so much out of the third movie I was kind of annoyed....and this film was shorter than the others he could he added more from the book in the time to catch up with the other films!!
