I Totall agree with you in that,he did a brilliant job,and the thing i like the most is that he got the three of them to write a page or a couple of pages on how Dan Rupert and Emma think ther Characters have changed throughout the books and films and wat the like about them..I think he amazing and i admire him for doing such a great job xx

POA and gof...Cuaron captured the teen/angry harry and how his friends 1st find out d real dangers of being his closest friends...cuaron had style n sensitivity...it showed it poa..
gof captured teen angst/raging hormones so well...newell did the tasks scenes well too...yule ball could b longer...but i so love how emma decended the stairs...real wow...no one could pull tht one off so well...
miss dobby,elves...

ootp was rubbish compared to poa, gof.it lacked plot..ppl complained it was boring in parts...lack cohesiveness..ending rushed thru...they can make it 3 hrs..ootp was d longest book!

i have to say Chris Columbus because, even though the critics say it was a bad thing, he stuck to the books the most. The fans loved it. The rest of the directors seem to try and please the critics than the fans which i think is stupid.

I actually liked the fifth film - excepting what happens at the end, of course. So my favorite director is David Yates, and I'm very glad he's coming back to do HBP.

of the 4 directors HP has had, 2 guys gets my thumbs-up:

1) Chris Columbus-- it amazing what this guy has done, despite all the ridiculous pressures and expectations he has to live up to with the money men and the fans, he brought the HP world to vivid life. he made you believe the Harry Potter world is real, that it can actually exist right now in our world. not to mention that he is just a wiz at finding the perfect child actors and getting the best performance out of their limited experience (and attention span ).

2.) David Yates-- there was a lot of things i was disappointed in OOTP, but i have to hand it to this guy, next to Columbus starting up the franchise, Yates had the toughest job of condensing the longest and 2nd most complicated HP book into something that can be handled in one movie, and thats by making the tough decisions (things that he' still being criticized for up to this day), streamlining the tale and creating a story arc (first time in the whole HP series) that will carry over in the next movies. its true that i wished he could've added a bit more and made the movie a little bit longer (it would've helped the film tremendously by adding a bit more character development), but then that's what OOTP Special Extended Edition will hopefully fulfill someday.

For me the order goes;

1) Columbus- CoS is my favourite movie and PS is my second most loved one. They are so like the books and the characterisations are spot on.

2) Yates- OotP was my least favourite book, yet he made me like this movie better than GoF or PoA. There were things I didn't like about it. Not enough Ginny, and Hermione was still stealing lines and scenes, but it was better than I expected, even with so much left out that I would have loved to have seen.

3)Newel- I enjoyed GoF, but Hermione was horrible. Dreadful characterisation. Ron was better than in PoA, but still not in character.

4) (and a long way down) Cuaron- I detested PoA. Hermione and Ron were so out of character! The most emotional part of the ending, Harry learning his Patronus is representing his father, was left out as were the Animagus and Marauder explanation. The Shrieking Shack and Time-Turner sequences were murdered by having Hermione stealing lines from other characters and literally becoming the "leader".
I was so glad they never got him back!

I'd say Alfonso Cuaron, I like what he made, he made the movie darker and show tha characters as teenagers, and I think the darker thing has stay in the next movies since Cuaron had directed...I just love PoA...I'm not saying Mike and Chris or David are bad directors all have a different way of directing, all movies have their own magic.

PS and CoS were the first and they look so cute, and start with the magic, but in the next movies they cahnge and so the way of seeing the movie, in GoF I love the effects and it has the most important stuff of the history, finally in OoP it was dark and great...they are all great movies...anyway. My order:

Alfonso Cuaron
Mike Newell & David Yates
Chris Colombus

I'd say Chris Columbus. If it weren't for his works I wouldn't really like the whole Harry Potter thing. When I've watch his film when I was young, it had really captivated my heart. But I'd have to say the other directors are also great.

Mike Newell because he really brought the spirit of the school back which i think Alfonso didn't quite capture (though i love the cinematography of POA).

I'd have to say Alfonso! I love him and his style of work. In my opinion he'd be perfect for DH, but hey that's just me....

Without a seconds doubt - David Yates.

Closely followed by Mike Newell.

Finally, when watching OotP it feels like I am not watching some cheese filled american film, odd as it sounds, Potter is so inherantly British, its nice having a British director, and with a British writer as well on OotP, even better, only shame is, we're back to Kloves for the last two films
