For the 6th movie the Gaunts and the Muggle Priminister as well as Hezibath (sp?) Smith have all been cut. Now I know there are threads on a whole bunch of sites but I think the Gaunts are reallyy important.. Don't you think throught the series too much has been cut from different movies? I just wanted to get others input on these things. Thanks! |

Oh boy, that makes me mad. Yes, way too much has been cut from the series. In fact, OOTP was an incredible disappointment for me! I think, if they were really catering to Harry Potter fans, they would not have worried about making a movie at about 2 hours or whatnot. Most fans would be more than happy to spend hours watching an intense film version of the book, but no. They cut out so much, and gave so little time to every event. Ack, it makes me too mad to even think about it!!! | |

I think its ridiculous at this point for the movie studios to assume that the films audience is just a bunch of ten year olds with ADHD, and I have to agree, what would be so bad about making a three hour film if it was good, and didn't cut out major important revelations from the film.
I hate that they're doing that ... I thought Ootp was a good movie, but a stupid adaptation since it omitted so much from the books ... not surprising they have the same director I should have expected it (Half Blood Prince) to be just as light. Of all the movies I thought Ootp was the least like the books, at least the other films tried to incorporate more ... not enough but I felt they were more true to their respective books than Ootp was to it's book. Yeah, Ootp caught the whole political gist of the novel but it was so busy giving it's message it didn't bother to give me Ron in a quidditch suit and turned Hermione (yet again) into a symbol for overly exaggerated female supremacy. If I went by the movies alone I wouldn't ship R/Hr because ... to put it politely, Hermione is a shrew.
I think the studios should be ashamed about cutting out so much from the films, especially important details but we're to blame too, because we keep going to see these subpar films knowing full well they aren't legitimate adaptations ... I think changing directors every film was a bad idea in retrospect, because the films don't carry one singular vision but the changing ideas of different filmmakers.
Boo on cutting the Gaunts, but I'm still going to go see it, I'm sorry to admit.

it's not as if everyday there's a new HP movie or episode , it's really stupid of them
& OtterySt.Catchpole is right , the sixth movie is goin' 2 be as light as the fifth , they are really annoying

I think in HBP they will focus on the romance ( H/G-R/L ) and the cave scene , DD's death. I was really annoyed when they cut the Gaunts. It's ok to have romance and every thing but please don't cut an important plots like that.  | |

They shouldnt cut the Gaunts or Hepzibah Smith, cause that means theres only two penisive scenes, or is it three?
The muggle priminister would be good to put in the film but tbh its not all that important so I understand that they can miss it out, anyway, as that bit is very important, it means that it makes room for something even more important.
They best not miss out Sectumsempra!
I was looking forward to the bit with the Gaunts, but I suppose Dumbledore might just tell Harry a very short version of the story instead of the acctual scene, because the whole book is about how Voldemort became Voldemort, so they have to put in how he came into the world.
The Hebzibah Smith bit is very important, it includes TWO Horcruxes so I dont understand how they can miss it out.

its a shame that the Gaunts arent in HBP. although dont lose hope yet, given that the Gaunts story is really more of a Horcrux tale, it just might make it in th 2-part DH. | |

It's a lighter version on the book.

WHAT!? I am so angry! CUTTING THE GAUNTS!? They're probably one of the most important...if not...THE most important part of Half Blood Prince!!!
I didn't even find out about the Gaunts being cut until now! And the Prime Minister!? He had a whole damn chapter in the books, and they STILL cut him!?
