"That's alright," Ivy interjected, "I've found something different and I'm nearly finished with the new article,"

BanaBatGirl 10-01-2009 02:52 AM

Rico had taken to doodling a miniature drawing of himself meeting a famous Quidditch player when he realized people were still talkign to him. OORIGHT. Jane and Anastasia. Good ideas, good ideas. He snapped his head up and nodded to show approval then put one last finishing scribble on his doodle.

"Ah, yes. Yes to you all. Since it sounds like everyone has everything under control," maybe, "I think this meeting is adjourned."

The Boss Man clapped his hands together once and looked around the room. "Anyone have anything to add? Sienna? Ian?" He was learning that it was always good to keep the other editors in the loop....

Lockhartian 10-03-2009 02:36 AM

Sienna eyed the time one more time, and almost sighed in relief when Enrico announced he had nothing further to say.

Good. This means he didn't keep anything else from them.

"Actually...we have deadlines...which should be kept..." she said, her eyes went from face to face, "So, I suggest to wrap this meeting up and go do our jobs" she smiled, because 'doing our jobs' meant talking to a few people and Enrico. :shifty:

There was not one single piece of parchment in front of her, because there was nothing else to discuss, right?

Right. Time to go.

Ama 10-03-2009 08:22 PM

Deadlines.

"No," responded Ian to Enrico, fixing his robes and ready to get off his seat. "I think we're all set. Everyone knows what they need to do?" His eyes found what he believed to be the Advertising employees.

Surely, they knew there was a deadline imposed on them already? Before they even walked in? Heh.

TeafortheSoul 10-05-2009 11:17 AM

Oh good! They were done!

Jane was excited by two things, the first being the part where she actually started her new job officially and the second was of course, recovering from the whole... toilet paper thing...

Yup.

She needed a moment and a change of clothes.

No more satin.

She half stood up, ready to leave.

Obi-Wan K'Lari 10-05-2009 07:04 PM

Arjuna nodded to her...boss...before picking her bag up off the floor. The first thing she would do was to check out her space and deadlines. Then she would go hunting for ad space. That was part of her job after all. And it wasn't like she was going to leave Ian to that on his own. He'd probably offend the people he was trying to get to but ad space. Maybe she'd go for the less well known areas. The...boss...would probably have already got the big spenders down.

Was his name Horshi?

Luna Laufghudd 10-05-2009 09:43 PM

With a big sigh of relief, Tristan nodded as Sienna was as eager as him to wrap this meeting up. He was in serious need to get the bludger out of there.

Not really caring for anything besides removing himself from the room, and besides others were already getting up, Tristan stood up, making the legs of his chair screech against the floor. He stretched, raising his arms high in the air, dropped them and straightened his clothes.

With a nod and a small handmade salute, he walked out the door.

Lockhartian 10-05-2009 09:54 PM

Sienna smiled as she noticed people getting their things together and ready to leave....

"Well, I think I'll be heading to my office, in case anyone else has a question" she said, with a nod...she'll be in her office, except when she steps into Enrico's in a while...

The parchment and the quill were already in her hand when she left the table, and, of course, the room.

BanaBatGirl 10-06-2009 02:07 AM

"Ah yeah, Imma head back to my office too," Rico nodded at Sienna. He shuffled his papers into an untidy pile and tucked them under his arm before having a thought.

Rico paused by the Cole? guy? The one who knew THE Colin MacKenzie, and pointed his quill at him. "Let me know if you get ahold of your Quidditch source. Seriously. Get him in here if you can."

Because that would be AWESOME! And then Rico popped out of the room to get some more coffee first.

Ama 10-06-2009 02:25 AM

Ian glanced sideways at Loo Roll Jane before standing up. No one was moving except Sienna, Serio and a few others. Did they all like the conference room that much? Sighing, he tugged on his navy robes wordlessly for a moment.

"I don't have an office," he remarked a slight bitter tone in his voice. "So I'll just go and...work."

And not be in his office pretending to work. Withholding all grumbling, which he wanted to do, Hoshino stealthily walked out of the room.

Lockhartian 04-06-2010 06:17 PM

NEW MEETING FROM THIS POST ON
*Section Editors only*

-------

And with a certain slowness, Sienna entered the Conference Room to find...no one there!

Was she the first one to arrive?!

This was probably the first time she was the number one person to arrive to a Daily Prophet Meeting...how unusual, and odd...and lucky, because she could choose whichever chair she wanted since they were all unoccupied.

But, oh, no, wait! There was a notepad in a chair...*shifty eyes*...perhaps she was NOT the first one to arrive. But the notepad was in the way of her and the comfy chair. Fear not. The notepad was placed on the ancient table, and she took that chair as her own.

Yes. Rico said he was taking care of getting new chairs, unfortunately, those chairs he talked about were not the ones in the Conference Room, apparently.

Never mind the chairs. She was in a comfy one, and that was all that mattered. Now it was time to wait for Ian, so Sienna sat there waiting with a very muggle pen, a black one with a white star at the end, and a notepad, a simple notepad.

Ama 04-06-2010 09:11 PM

Ian Hoshino was later.

Reality could very well implode as of right now. Roughly, he tugged on the front of his robes just as his feet passed the door's threshold. Luckily for him, the only one present to witness his unfashionable tardiness was Knoll. Pausing to admire her from afar with a quirked brow, Ian pinched the bridge of his nose.

"I don't have any excuse for being late," he informed before she could question him. "You're just going to have to take it for what it is."

A tardiness. From Ian Hoshino.

Things like these kept happening ever since Rico's disappearance. It was as if his sudden departure threw Prophet's Dimension off balance causing nothing but misfortune in Hoshino's life; and that was with Ian feeling ambivalent towards the man. He could only describe it as a curse.

"Either way, we're both early if you take into consideration the others aren't here," he murmured out of the corner of his cynical lips, taking a seat a distance from Sienna. That's right, Sienna. No need to tell everyone Ian Hoshino was late.

noodles 04-06-2010 09:32 PM

Urrrh... Nathan was late. Why did they have to hold these meetings so damn early?

Coffee in hand; five o'clock shadow on chin; and bed hair to the extreme, Nathan wandered into the conference room, covering his mouth with his free hand to stifle a yawn.. or half a yawn - the atmosphere in the Conference room caused his jaw to snap closed rather apruptly. No Yawning – it was like an unwritten, unspoken rule.

“Morning.” He said to his colleagues, trying to sound chirpy and bright and alert. Oh dear. He gave the pair an attempt at a smile and took a seat at the far side of the table. Urrgh.. late nights and meetings just didn't mix.

..Least he wasn't the last here. Where were the others?

Lockhartian 04-06-2010 09:46 PM

Uh-What?

Sienna didn't even notice Ian's arrival until he spoke. And, well, she wasn't going to ask for any excuses. It's not like he was really late, he arrived only a couple minutes after her, no big deal.

A shrug came to her shoulders. It's not like she actually cared where he's been or why he was late. He was just the second to arrive, nothing more.

However, his tone made Sienna feel a bit uneasy. This was NOW a new Daily Prophet, this guy was NOT Enrico Serio, NOT AT ALL! So, if you're thinking of working here, then run away, far away from his office and the Prophet. Ack! Ian now had the bigger office! Yes, well, she now missed Rico, and knew for sure that things were going to be quite different from now on.

Yet, there was a smile on her face after his next comment. True. Considering they both arrived before the rest, then the others were late. And when she was about to comment, Nathan arrived.

Sienna remembered the memo. Ian had stepped up, making his previous position vacant, and filled by Nathan. That's why he was here.

At the joy of NOT seeing herself alone in the Conference Room with Ian Hoshino, Sienna's smile widened, and there was a flash of golden hair moving towards the door. "Good morning, Nathan" she said, with a nod, and eyeing the distances between the chairs. It was good to have some distance in the morning.

Now, let's not comment on people being late...for Ian's sake.

LeapFrog 04-07-2010 01:27 AM

Daphne Jones strolled into the conference room, wearing a lovely lilac dress. She loved summertime and vowed to take advantage of the warm weather while she still had the chance. She placed her messenger bag on the table and smiled to the others around her. "Hello there!," she said in a cheerful voice. It might be early, but Daphne was feeling quite good. It must be the weather.

Sitting down, she carefully adjusted her dress to make herself more comfortable. "How're you doing this morning?" she inquired, hands clasped in her lap. After a moment, she realised she hadn't properly set up for the meeting, and began to unload a notepad, quill, and ink. Seeing as there wasn't much use for that yet, she returned to sitting casually and smiling.

TeafortheSoul 04-08-2010 01:20 AM

As far as Jane was concerned she wasn't late. Honestly it wasn't her fault that daylight savings time had been and gone and she'd been none the wiser. She waltzed into the meeting room thinking that she'd be the only one there and a HUGE amount early...

... but.

"Oh!" She paused in the doorway, one foot hovering mid-step. "Hi... um... everyone!"

Jane scooted inside and sat down, scrambling to get her things ready.

I'm so cool

Lockhartian 04-08-2010 02:05 AM

Who was the one in a lilac dress? Oh, yes, the young one. She must love summer, indeed. Summer reminded her of travel.

Actually, Sienna should take a trip somewhere, and perhaps hunt down Enrico Serio, or wherever he's being kept captive. Because that's the only reason for leaving the Prophet, right? Being held captive. Somewhere out of England, probably, and Sienna could travel, yes, she'll tell Ian that it's all for research...

...Er, greetings! "Hi Daphne! Well, I don't know about the rest, but I'm pretty good..." not sleepy at all, just a bit worried about what might come out of Ian's mouth, he better not mess with her office in any way. "...And you?" she asked, a smile still on her face.

Not a minute went by, when Jane entered the Conference Room, it did seem like she was expecting no one to be there..."Hi Jane, good morning" Sienna nodded, and immediately counted heads. The one person missing was Pepper, and he'll probably show up soon.

Her face turned towards the door, and then to Ian. And back to the door again while she placed the pen on the table. It's not like she was going to write something at the moment.

Ama 04-08-2010 10:18 PM

Sienna was being unusually nice towards his person. Momentarily, he wondered if she was bitter over him taking up the larger office. Although, personally, he didn't think there was much of a difference between his new office and Sienna's. Hers had the benefit of more windows.

Not that Ian Hoshino was a natural light kind of man; maybe.

Nathan Greenwood arrived and saved him from the awkwardness. It was an unpredictable feeling and he wasn't sure what to make of it. "Good Morning, Greenwood. You're first to arrive," announced Ian dully. "Clap yourself on the back for such an achievement."

There. Who said Ian couldn't reward an employee when it was called for? He would have tried to strike some kind of mindless conversation but a chipper Lady in Lilac nearly twirled into their grim conference room. Instinctively, that dark left brow arched.

"Sienna," he whispered, leaning towards the Managing Editor as much as possible. "Who's Purple?" Clearly, Hoshino was unable to catch Knoll's thoughts about distance. Not being a mind reader had its downfalls, after all.

This brief moment of possible inappropriateness was interrupted by something far more sinister than invasion of bubbles and chit-chat: Jane Holland.

Jane Holland in red to be precise. Frowning, Ian allowed his brown eyes to land on the reporter's shoes. They weren't nearly as flattering as the rest of her wardrobe.

"Hello Jane...." he paused to pretend he cared about the other interaction in the room before reaching into his robes. "We're missing someone." That man with the charming English speaking skills. "Do you suppose we give him five more minutes and hope for his well being he has a reasonable excuse? Like, say, perhaps his head caught fire while riding the floo network."

Lockhartian 04-09-2010 08:13 PM

DISTANCE! DISTANCE!

Come on, Ian! It's too early in the morning...and...what? Who's Purple? She didn't know anyone named Purple that was supposed to be in this meeting, better yet, she didn't know anyone named Purple, thank Merlin for that.

Oh! The Purple dress one. Tsk! That's lilac! "I'm sure you mean lilac, but she's the Sports Section Editor, Daphne" she whispered, and was entirely positive no one but Ian could hear her. He should've guessed that, though, because Sienna had just greeted the girl.

Mmmhmmm...

Yes, they were missing someone.

But she eyed Ian with a confused look on her face, and leaned towards him. Yeah, forget about distance for a second. "I say we wait, considering I also had to wait for you to arrive" there! He could handle a couple more minutes of waiting, right? "Unless you want to start right away" she said, leaning back on her chair. Oh-so-comfy.

Antarctica 04-09-2010 11:09 PM

A hasty, perfunctory knock on the door was succeeded by Pepper, cradling a stack of files in one arm and holding on to a cup of coffee. "Sorry about this," he said, shoving the door shut and sitting down on the chair closest to him. He put down the files with a heavy thud that sent dust particles flying. The archives needed an airing-out. The coffee remained in his hand. Pepper was sure he'd need it.

He glanced around quickly. Everyone was looking rather pointedly at him. Was he really the last one to arrive? It looked like it. "Sorry, he repeated, deciding to put the coffee cup down after all - he placed it carefully on the stack of parchment. "I was busy in the archives, and I didn't hear that a meeting had been called. Are there current, er, developments that need discussion?"

Pepper settled back in his chair and glanced past the person sitting next to him - that layout artisan Nathaniel, sporting impressively messy hair - towards the other end of the table, where Miss Knoll was seated.

Ama 04-11-2010 12:06 AM

Oh, Sienna was so technical. He shot her an unamused look out of the corner of his eyes. "Thank you, Sienna," he grumbled not truly thankful. "I feel enlightened." No, not quite. Rubbing the back of his neck, he waited patiently for Pepper to take a seat. Pepper was it? Odd name for a man to be dubbed a spice.

"This will be a very brief meeting," he informed, opening the case in his hands. Slowly, he donned his reading glasses and shuffled some papers. None of what was written was actually all that important. He didn't plan on discussing it all with them but he felt that if they saw he was at least organized they would feel more comfortable under his care or some sentimental crap like that. "At least, I wish for it to be. Basically, as it is obvious," Ian paused to gesture at an empty chair. "Rico is not here. In fact, I don't know where he is."

Sienna didn't know either and it was all pretty sinister if you asked Hoshino--but you wouldn't, would you? "I'm your Editor-in-Chief and the world goes on. La dee da."

Ian had said all of this in a rather dull and monotonous tone. It was a necessary preemptive strike to keep everyone from getting touchy over Rico's departure. Hoshino needed to get down to actual business. "He hasn't been the only one to leave us, so we hired several new employees for each of your sections. Here are you lists of journalists," he handed each of the Section Editors a piece of paper with the information of their underlings.

"You can expect those to be dropping in starting next week."
Letting out a deep breath, Ian steeped his fingers. He watched Jane cautiously for a moment before speaking once more. "You can look forward to some minor changes in the building I am planning to put forth. Never fear. No one is losing a cubicle. Finally, any questions?"

noodles 04-11-2010 10:04 AM

Coffee, coffee, coffee...

Downing the drink, Nathan wished he had got another couple of shots of espresso in there to make sure his eyes stayed open during this meeting because judging by past ones, it was going to be loooong.. and full of journalist type things that the Layout Editor had no clue about. He could tell you a brand of ink these days just from the smell alone; but writing was not the man's forte.

“Ms Knoll.”
He smiled a slightly more alert and warm smile than before and nodded at the blonde woman as she welcomed him; then he focused on Ian. Clap yourself on the back for arriving first? A flash of a smile and Nathan winked at the guy, deciding that he was being funny... rather than rude.

Next through the door were Ms Jones and Jane, closely followed by Pepper whom Nathan directed nods and smiles at in greeting. He eyed the files Pepper dumped on the table and he inwardly groaned. See? Journalist stuff... and LOTS of it by the look of all that paperwork. He looked at his now empty mug longingly, though his eyes snapped up to meet Ian's again as the meeting started. Rico was gone and IAN was the new Editor-in-Chief? Swallowing involuntarily at this bit of news because, lets face it, Ian was like a male version of Getti Ford (and she was scarier than a Dementor who'd got out of bed on the wrong side), and he thought those days at the Prophet were over. He glanced at all the other faces in the room to see their reactions before he focused on the new boss again. Where was Rico? The man who was so down to earth and could have been considered a mate. Had he had enough of the British and their weather and gone back to the Sunny States? Biting his bottom lip, Nathan wanted to ask questions, but it appeared Ian was clueless as to what had happened to the American bloke.

He took the parchment from Ian and scanned the details of the new layout staff. From his past experience, people were never the way they appeared on paper. He placed the parchment on the table in front of him, clasped his hands together and looked at the new Bossman. No – he didn't have any questions. Not about work anyway.

Lockhartian 04-12-2010 12:09 AM

Yes! Pepper! Finally!

He was in the Archives? Oooh, that was her favorite place before getting an office. An office that was clearly better than this Conference Room, she'll talk to Ian about making this place a better one for whoever comes in wanting a meeting.

And everyone was simply silent...very silent after listening to Ian not-so-great news. News she already knew, so...he was saying nothing of importance, because he had no idea where Rico was either. And if Rico was found, is Ian supposed to go back to his old position? Probably not. So, let's just get to work.

She was even more worried when she noticed the look on Nathan's face. Great. He was NOT happy with Ian being the new Editor, and she does not have any problem with Ian being the new Editor as long as he DOES NOT mess with her office. Her office is OFF limits for Ian...unless they get to have a meeting in there, but other than that, OFF LIMITS.

Or not.

Whatever.

"No one is losing a cubicle". Oh. So, if we have new employees, where is Ian placing them? Where is he getting the space from? Sienna had just ONE thing to say, and it wasn't even related to work. Sort of.

"While I don't have any questions, Ian...and congratulations on your promotion, by the way..." because that's what it's called, right? Promotion. "...I do have one thing to say" she nodded, a glimpse of glittery gold was seen from her hair, "If anyone knows the littlest detail about Rico's disappearance, then please head over to my office with the information" yes, that would be all. Thank you. Good day.

Ama 04-12-2010 12:32 AM

LOL I think Nathan almost flat-lined

There was an awful lot of silence and Ian Hoshino figured out the obvious. They were not exactly thrilled. He couldn't exactly blame them, he thought as he glanced at Sienna sideways, to analyze her expression better. Hoshino knew he wasn't the most likable of individuals.

It wasn't his fault his personality was more of a blast-ended skrewt than a crup puppy.

"Also," he interrupted the silence and wondered if a cricket would hit him in the face for such an act of disrespect. Ian, cleared his throat noisily and fidgeted in his chair. "I might have to call you, Jane, into my office later..." Ian let that fall for a minute before hastily continuing. "And Pepper..." Something. Spice Rack. Why couldn't he memorize that last name already?

"If you don't have any questions or ideas you wish to discuss with me before you go and torture your new underlings -which you are allowed to do, just don't fire them- you may be dismissed."

OOC: *days later* Consider this meeting err....done with? Yes? Go out and be merry.

TeafortheSoul 04-15-2010 06:00 AM

Jane experienced about fifty thoughts and feelings in the space of a few moments, and found herself terminally unable to hide any of them. It went something like this:

Sienna greeting her = Jane is bashful
Ian eyeing her shoes =Jane is puzzled
Something about lilac = Jane realises the only item in her wardrobe in that colour was satin and therefore has already been discarded
Meeting starting = Jane feels like a little kid caught letting her thoughts wander
Mr. Ser- Rico gone = Jane is a little sad
Ian is new boss = Jane feels like squeeing and congratulating him but refrains
New employees = Jane gets excited and hopes they're nice and not intimidating
Ian looking at her as if she were about to explode = Jane blushes and chews on the inside of her cheek, pretending that the list of new staff is VERY INTERESTING
Sienna playing Grand High Inquisitor = Jane is a little alarmed
Ian wanting to see her in his office = Jane is very much alarmed
... Ian also wanting to see Pepper = Jane is relieved and also a little embarassed.
Being told they could torture their new staff = Jane wonders if Ian is prone to torture.
Meeting adjourned = Jane stands up, trips over self, falls flat on her face.

So it was another good day, all told.
