Default Coffee Room

The Coffee Room, which also doubles as a break room for the harassed staff of the Daily Prophet, is in desperate need of a makeover. The door, when opened into the room, takes up half the room and the sofa takes up the other half. A shiny, brand-spanking new coffee machine looks out of place resting on a dilapidated filing cabinet. If you're looking for sugar or milk to add taste to the only decent beverage in the room coffee, you should probably look elsewhere or bring it in with you. The editor really prefers his coffee plain black, anyway, so no frilly coffee creamers or sugary add-ins will be found here.

Attempts to gossip about the superiors are sadly hindered as it becomes glaringly obvious that the wall between the coffee room and the Managing Editor's office is paper thin. Daily Prophet staff for decades have come to the not incorrect conclusion that the state of their coffee room is such because of the executive officers' desire to keep them working all day and not slacking off. Though if you were to slack off, the best place to do it might be that couch... rumor has it that if you can survive the springs poking out of it and the possible infestation of bunidmuns, it makes for a half-decent nap spot.

Perhaps the most ironic thing in the room is a small framed embroidered piece on the pockmarked wall (an attempt by a long gone staff member to cheer the place up) which said, "The true way to render ourselves happy is to love our work and find in it our pleasure."

You are here.

OoC: Sorry(

James smiled slightly as she realised he wouldn't understand. "Oh.. there's another one in France?" It would've been silly to assume there was only one school in France but.. he hadn't really thought that much about it. "Wow.. must've been hard to conceal a massive wizarding school in the capital of France.."

He didn't even register her comment about who asked who out or whatever as his mind was still reeling from what she'd told him. SEVEN children. James tried to quell the nausea. "Seven.." He mumbled meekly and gulped the coffee down to try and calm himself. Gagging at the taste, he spat it back in his cup and coughed alarmingly. "What. Is. THAT?!" That wasn't coffee.. that wasn't anything that resembled coffee ! That wasn't even the instant below par grind the muggle's tried to pass off as a decent cuppa.
Still hiccoughing he nodded at the suggestion of drinks, "Yes, yes, yes. Please. I think I need a good shot or firewhiskey after that stuff.. or two."
Her comment about her husband made him groan, "Madam, that's what they all say. Black eyes don't suit my complexion. Seriously."
Egypt giggled at James question, "Oh well you find time to fit it in believe me." And if you didn't the children just jumped on the bed till you woke up and played with them. She placed a comforting hand on his arm. "Are you quite alright James?" she asked really concerned the mad seemed to be having a Nathan worthy hissy fit and Egypt didn't have the firewhiskey in her purse for one of those. She turned and grabbed a napkin and dabbed at the coffee that he had sputtered on his face. "Well I did warn you about the coffee." She smiled. He was in a right state and she wasn't sure why the revelation of her having seven children would have sent him into a tizzy. "Well good lord what have you been up to that someone would punch you in the face? They say hell hath no fury like a woman scorned but I would hate to think you could drive a woman to strike you." Though she had seen her sister Tomasina hit plenty of boys and sometimes a few girls if they pushed her. But she didn't count that because she rather thought her sister had a hot temper.

James' eyes widened. But what about.. going out? And .. and.. and..

Putting it simply he couldn't fathom having more than himself to look after let alone a brood of seven dopelgangers. Frightening.
Perhaps he'd been a little rash in gulping the stuff down. It tasted HORRIBLE. He groaned and gagged, shaking his head profusely when she asked him if he was alright. Did he look it?
"Ha.. so you did." Urgh.
He stared at her. "It's not the women you have to worry about - although never, ever get on the wrong side of a angry female but their boyfriends. Pheweee! They're quite the men. Right hook and all." Oh yes. James' right cheek(and subsequently teeth) would never quite forget that meeting with his fist.

She giggled as she finished wiping the coffee from his face. She couldn't understand why men got more food on themselves than in their mouths. "Well James there are plenty of single woman in the world. You don't have to chase the taken ones," she told him. Especially if you were going to get beat up over it. "There are some lovely single women right here at the office even." Egypt the matchmaker was in full swing. "And certainly you should learn to defend yourself if nothing else," she added with a smile.
