Located in Diagon Alley’s North Side, Wiseacres prides itself in bringing you only the best equipment at a price no one can beat. The shop's name is emblazoned in gold letters on the large glass window to the left of the double doors. The window is home to a display of merchandise ranging from floo powder to fanged frisbees, star charts to sneakoscopes. In the middle of the display sits an advertising blackboard that every so often announces a sale.
Despite the wide array of products available, the interior of the shop is neatly organized. Upon walking in, the first things quests will notice is a display of telescopes ideal for Hogwarts students located just to the right of the doors. Maps and star/moon charts are rolled up and stacked on a rack beside the display. Games are displayed on a table toward the middle of the shop; concealers and detectors are shelved along the left wall. Several dark wood shelving units line the rest of the floor space. Each aisle is clearly marked with the type of merchandise it contains.
When you finish shopping, please make your way to the counter at the back of the shop. Here you can check out, inquire about gift wrapping or other services offered, and purchase breakable or expensive objects, such as rememberalls, hourglasses, crystal balls, and invisibility cloaks, kept in a locked glass cabinet behind the counter. In the market for a flying carpet? Those are kept behind a locked door next to the counter; only the shopkeeper can open it. Should anyone try to enter the showroom without permission, a caterwauling charm will sound. If you need help finding anything, the shopkeeper will be happy to assist!
Picture Development: 8 sickles per picture
Gift Wrapping: 2 sickles, 19 knuts
Equipment Repair: starts at 1 galleon, 15 sickles, 16 knuts (price depends on size of object & time to complete repairs)
*Multiple colors/shapes/designs available
**extra charge for customization
This shop is NOT STAFFED and has a NPC shopkeeper.
At least he was understanding. She had been on a few dates where the guy would get upset she'd be a little late because she had to do motherhood things. She didn't bother sticking around to find out how the dates would've gone after that. Arabella was sure they found someone else to occupy their time.
Stepping into the shop, her green eyes darted around at the familiar setting and how everything had hardly been changed. She remembered that time her dad came with her and bought her the most expensive telescope they had. That was back in her days when she was obsessed with astronomy. But then again, Bells did name her bakery Constellations. Walking over the the telescopes, she looked them over, considering maybe giving one to Seren, or exploding snaps. Her child had very different interests as she did as a little girl. Bells was always into fashion and quidditch; the two hardly went together.
She knew they weren't in the quidditch shop, but didn't want to correct Cassius on it. Arabella simply smiled at him and laughed a little. "You're not stupid. We can always head to the quidditch shop; it's a few doors down. But I guess this date will be a little extended,"
He certainly FELT stupid. But he just smiled his boyish, charming smile, and he let the door swing closed behind them. "Yeah...we can. I don't mind. And eventually...maybe get ice cream?" he squinted at her...and made a puppy-eyed face. As if to say... PLEASE? He supposed if she really didn't want ice cream, then he could go for some later. Alone.
Or bring a tub of some to Cox. But didn't Cox not consume animal product? Or was it that he only ate fish? He thought perhaps Cox only ate fish..and no meat...but that include dairy? Egg product? Hmm. He'd have to get clarification from his friend.
He caught Bells looking at a telescope, and smiled. "Do you like star gazing, then?" he asked as he neared the one. "I have to admit...I was never one for Astronomy."

Isla hadn't wanted to go in Wiseacre's. She'd been in the alley almost all day, and she was starting to get tired and cranky. Her mother had insisted, though, because there was something she needed to buy for herself. It really was the least Isla could do, though, seeing as her mom had bought her so many things for school today.
The second year wandered into the shop not too far from her mom. She'd been asked to stick around, since they were apparently heading home afterwards. Was there even anything in here to grab her attention? She stopped by a random display and looked over what it had to offer. She could buy a howler here?! She'd always wondered where those things originated from. She'd just seen a few kids get one here or there at school.
WHOA! An invisibility Cloak?! She side-eyed her mom, wondering what her chances were of getting one of those beauties. Probably slim to none... Ewww, crystal balls. Isla was not a fan of Divination, so she could just move right on past that little display. Regardless, this was actually a pretty awesome shop, and she had to admit, even just a little, that she was glad her mom had brought her along.

Nemesis Upstead was not remotely interested in about ninety-nine percent of the Wiseacre's stock, but that was ultimately to be expected. Only one thing in here was really worth his attention, and the only reason he'd even stepped inside the shop, but Nem had simply passed it by with no more than a glance before looping back around and starting towards the door again.
But at the last moment, he deviated and headed over to the display of concealors and detectors. A lot of it was stuff Nem had seen plenty of before, thanks to one of the parental units, but had always kept a good distance from. Again, no interest in actually owning any of it; Nem was there only on an investigative basis.
Side-stepping around a girl he recognised as another Hogwarts student, Nem closed the last few feet of distance to the shelves along the left wall and... the nearest Sneakoscope immediately began to spin, flash, and whistle incessantly. "Oh, shut up," Nem said, flicking it neatly with one finger and sending it careening into the depths of the shelving unit. "I'm not even doing anything."
He glanced across at the girl he'd passed and flashed her a bemused sort of smile.

Isla had been so preoccupied with being half bored and half interested in the shop that she had missed her fellow Snake passing by her. It was only when the spinning, flashing, and whistling started that she turned around. "It's not you. It's me," she said. "I was thinking about taking off with an Invisibility Cloak, but I guess I'm caught now." She paused for added effect then smiled. "Just kidding." She was, however, pretty impressed with how Nem had just nonchalantly flicked the sneakoscope to the back of the shelves.
"Nem, right?" she asked. They were in the same house, and he was only a year older than her, so she'd been around long enough to know who he was. She wondered what brought him in here. She had no idea who his parents were, so he could be just waiting on their shopping trip to end, kind of like how she was doing. Or, if that sneakoscope was anything to go on, he could be in here to do something super sneaky, which is what her overactive imagination wanted her to believe. "How's it going? You having a good summer?"

Taking a subtle half-step away from the display of detectors, Nem let out a small huff of laughter and shook his head. "That makes more sense. I'd be a little worried about your criminal career otherwise." Admission of guilt at the first sign of suspicion and all. But it was all in good fun, of course.
"Yeah. And you're... Lilah?" Bellchant. Nem generally paid little attention to the younger students unless it was deemed necessary, but the information filtered in all the same, especially with some of them. He lounged back on his heels and hooked his thumbs into his pockets, but for all the relaxedness of his posture still seemed to be fully engaged in the conversation. "Oh, yeah. Summer's been fine, not much to write home or anything. What about you?" And. "What brings you... here?" He gestured towards the general shop area with a jerk of the head.

Isla gave an amused laugh at the way he mentioned her 'criminal career'. It was nice when you could meet somebody (properly meet somebody, in this case), and be able to joke around like that. "Isla," she said, giving him a slight correction of her name. "Good guess, though." She was surprised he at least got close enough to give her a rhyming word.
Her eyebrows furrowed inward. Did he mention...writing home? Had he been away from home or something? She decided not to pursue that train of thought. It might be too personal or something, and if he'd wanted her to know where he'd been, he would have said as much. "Summer's been good. We didn't really go anywhere this summer, which was okay by me. Sometimes it's good to just be home," she replied. Her mom had been super busy with some job assignment she'd been tasked to anyway.
She was just about to open her mouth and answer his last question, when her mom appeared in the doorway to shop. She gestured her daughter to come along, which probably meant it was time to leave. "I have to go. I'll see you around," she said, and on that note, she turned on her heels and joined her mom.

Arabella laughed softly wile picking up another telescope and looking over at him. "We can definitely get ice cream. Haven't met a person who'd turn down ice cream yet," Setting the telescope back down, she then picked up a small star chart and nodded. "I do, but I haven't done it in a long time. When I was younger, and couldn't sleep, I'd used to sit by my bedroom window and look at the stars. I'd fall asleep there till morning," Most of the time, unless her dad or older brother came to find her and moved her to the bed. As for the astronomy stuff.
"Astronomy is an acquired taste. I named my bakery Constellations, but kind of lost my love for astronomy overtime," Nothing new there since that seemed to be happening her for some time now.

At least Cassius had stopped feeling like a total mug. He was feeling more comfortable as they continued talking. "Unless they couldn't have ice cream for whatever reason. Once Quidditch starts up again - " he paused, though, because....he had, for a split second, forgotten he was no longer playing. And for the first time, he actually felt his gut fall a bit. He, Cassius Dolohov, was no longer playing.... "I guess even without Quidditch I should keep my regime up. I can't let myself go!" he REFUSED to let himself go. Gym. Every morning. 5AM. Strictly protein for weeks on end....carbs after particularly active days if he had been good...etc. "The older I get...the less I can cheat. I find. It's easier to put on fat."
And it majorly SUCKED ok?
He smiled gently at her memory. "That's really cute, actually. I...I don't have a lot of fond memories after my mama died." He actually didn't know if he had disclosed the story to her yet. But now was a time as any. "She passed when I was...Merlin, five?" he smiled bitterly at her, though. "And I was a bad kid. Always in trouble..." He knew WHY now, of course.
"Why did you lost your love for it? Any reason?"

She was not nearly as excited coming back to Diagon Alley this summer as she had been the last. It wasn't that she didn't want to go back to Hogwarts, as really she had no inclination or desire to transfer again like most some of her friends wanted to do. Hogwarts was the only place she wanted to be. It was where she felt closest to her parents now, without actually being near them. And suddenly, family wasn't something she was so willing to take for granted.
Which is what even brought her to Wiseacres today. After last term, she wanted to make sure she had gifts already lined up at LEAST for her fellow Hogwarts students siblings, for both Birthday and Christmas. It had been quite difficult trying to figure out things to make for them when she didn't have very many skill sets. She couldn't imagine Lucas having enjoyed a dance choreography.
But he would like a new Wizarding Chess set which she had been saving up for. Heading over to the section of the store where they were displayed, she took her time in surveying each trying to decide which would be the best for her younger brother.
Every single trunk, pouch, box, and container had been opened, dumped, and tossed about the store. Every moon and star chart, blackboard, and poster had been flipped or torn off the walls. The chess sets were scattered and the exploding snap and player cards had been tossed like someone had been planning on playing very competitive game of 52 card pick up. A few of the invisibility cloaks had been torn and quite a few of the Anti-Burglary Buzzers were whirring.
And once again on the front window was the following symbol:

With the upcoming family trip to Brighton, Kizzy was very insistent that her dad take her to Diagon Alley for school supplies now so that she didn't have to worry so much during the holiday. Buuuuuuuuuuuuut it also meant she could try to find things FOR the beach trip. She was very persuasive, you see. Maybe daddy would let her get a fanged frisbee so they could play on the beach!
So of course, she made sure to pencil in a stop at Wiseacre's to find the best games to--
Um.
The sound of all the buzzers and alarms made her stop in her tracks just as she reached the front doors. The first thing she noticed was that Deathly Hallows sign on the window. It was the same one she saw with Cooper last summer when they were eating ice cream and from the window in Ollivander's. The second thing she did, was press her forehead up to the window to peek at whatever was happening inside.
A curious kneazle, she was.

Blake wandered away from his sister after making agreeing on a time and place to meet up. He started looking for familiar places and wondering how much ice cream the money in his pocket would by when he spotted a familiar face.
... and heard alarm bells...?
He inched closer and stood next to her. "Did you set them off?"

Summer was here and Jackson was in Diagon Alley to shop for school supplies. He had thought that he could arrange to see some friends and eat ice cream with them or go bowling but no that idea had been shot down since he needed to be on babysitting duty. Gemma was only a few years younger than him, but their parents didn’t want her to walk around alone in the alley. Jackson understood why with all the potential shady people and reports of criminal activity, but he had hoped for a day without his sister following in his wake.
Pushing open the door to Wiseacres wizarding equipment Jackson called over his shoulder as he headed inside. "Gem, what did you need in here? A new star chart and a telescope was it?" Maybe he should get himself a new wizard chess set or something? It could be useful inbetween OWL studies.

This was dumb and if Jackson thought he was babysitting he had another thing coming. She was old enough now to be on her own no matter what their over protective dad said. She knew he had issues from his time at Hogwarts and people going missing, but this was not back in the Merlin days, they were waaaaaaayyyyy in the future and she was fine. He needed to realize she wasn't a baby anymore.
Since she was with Jackson, she figured she'd just deal with it and hang with him until the opportunity came to light that she could ditch him and go find some friends to hangout with. Shrugging to his question she just looked around, "Honestly I'd rather just get some joke stuff or a pygmy puff. Thing dad would care if I got one?" She knew her mum would probably be fine with it, but who say she had to be responsible and blah, blah, all that parent stuff. Maybe she could get him to leave here and go to where they could buy one.
"ooh that looks neat." She ignored his question and headed towards the telescopes where a really big one was on display.

No dear boy, she did not set them off, but when the girl's forehead pressed up against the glass a slew of the Sneakoscopes lit up, started spinning, whirling, and making noises like a steam whistle.

The sudden wild Sneakoscopes gave Kinsay James quite a scare. She jumped back in surprise, gasping quietly before hearing the question and whipping her ponytail around to to give whoever was accusing her the stink eye she wasn't good at stink eyes.
Oh. It was Blake. Hi.
"No, but look," she gave him a frown, before waving him to come closer and pressing her forehead up to the window again. "The Sneakoscopes. They only do that when someone's doing something untrustworthy. D'you think there's a thief inside?" And if so, should they check?

"I think dad would be fine with you getting a pygmy puff, but he'd probably give you long a lecture about how to take care of it." Dad had never been a fan of jokes from the WWW shop after his time at Hogwarts. Their mum was another story, she didn't mind a few jokes. "What kind jokes do you want to buy anyway?" If it was harmless stuff maybe their dad wouldn't object so strongly to jokes in the house.
Jackson sighed inwardly as Gemma just turned and headed off towards the biggest telescope in the shop. Trailing after his sister he called after. "That scope won't fit in your trunk and it's probably too expensive."

Blake tilted his head watching as the Sneakoscopes lit up. Curious. That was curious. He glanced over at Kinsay who stumbled back. What was with that face she just made? Was that normal? He didn't know. Maybe it was just something she did.
He went back to watching the sneakoscopes as she spoke.
"There's obviously something worth investigating. Let's go check it out!" It was the right thing to do.

Kinsay wanted to go check it out too, but not because it was the right thing to do. Moreso because she was a curious kneazle and wanted to see for herself. If she was going to be an auror (like her mum and Auntie Lex) one day, she'd need the practice.
"Okay, come on!" She grinned, grabbing Blake's arm and tugged him inside.
G A S P ! ! ! !
"Look, Blake! Someone's torn the whole place up!" Her eyes moved from the opened trunks to the torn posters.

"Whoa...." he said in a low, hushed voice while looking around. "No wonder everything has been going off! This place is a mess!" he said taking a few steps around.
"I wonder if the shopkeeper is here? Hopefully they aren't hurt!"
They needed to check!

Jackson was busy eying up the products in the games section when Gemma actually said something that required a better big brother answer than just 'dad won't like that'. Turning to look at his sister, Jackson pulled a hand through his dark hair as he answered quietly. "Truthfully; yes I've been very uncomfortable and have even disliked being in mum's shadow all the time, feeling like I'm watched extra much by the other prof's, just because i am her son." The watchful cat's though, he wasn't very bothered with. "I've realized now though after a few school years that we should see it as an asset that we have mum at school, not as a stone tied to our feet. Nobody else at school can say they have their mum right down the corridor if you need a hug or a listening ear."
Changing his footing Jackson finished after a short pause. "Mum can't help that she loves to teach where we go to school Gem and yes it probably means we've got extra eyes on us, but use it to thrive in your studies and get high marks instead of seeing it as something super bad." Okay, could he stop now and talk about more fun and easy things, please?
"I can buy you a pygmy puff before we go home, if you are really sure you want one?" Jackson offered generously. Sighing he gestured toward the big scope. "Fine, you can look at it." Knowing Gem she was going to look with or without his permission.

"I wonder if the shopkeeper is here? Hopefully they aren't hurt!"
They needed to check!
The alarms going off within the story were nothing compared to the alarms going off inside Kizzy's head... Or maybe it was a combination of both things happening simultaneously that made her feel all sorts of dizzy. Excited. Dizzy AND excited.
"Maybe." Kiz widened her eyes as she looked around with worry. Blake had a good point, it wasn't something that Kiz had even considered at first (to be honest). Not that she didn't care about the shopkeeper, but her own curiosity had been immediately drawn to the prospect of ROBBERS or something of the like. Did they need to find the shopkeeper? O.O WHAT IF THE SHOPKEEPER DID THIS!? There were so many possibilities.
"What do you think happened?" And also, what were they supposed to do now?

Why was he all about the academics and all that. What kind of nerd brother did she have? He was certainly not seeing her point of the fun that was to be had a school that they weren't having because of all the watchful eyes. She just shrugged at his thoughts, "It's good to have her around when you aren't feeling well." She would give him that much, plus there was another thing that bothered her about her mother.
"Doesn't it bother you how other kids talk about her, I mean they think her subject is fake and her being able to hear animal thoughts... Just..." She pretended to have the same ability when she was younger, but the older she got the more she thought people looked at it as weird, not cool. Even if she had a little spark of it she would have never told anyone at this point.
Looking at the big telescope she couldn't help but be excited about it. "We couldn't even fit this in the house anywhere." Seriously who bought these types of things? She closed one eye and leaned over to look into it. Picturing how clear the sky would look through this.

Well Jackson was a Ravenclaw out to his fingertips and he knew that it often annoyed his sister since Gemma wanted him to live a little and take risks. It wasn’t easy to do that when you had your mum at school. At least she agreed a little with what he had said, but he hadn’t expected anything else. "If mum wasn’t here and you’d be ‘free’ from her watchful cat’s, then what would you do, that you can’t do now?" If she said break rules and do pranks and skip classes and so on Jackson would possibly get a little worried.
And then of course Gem had to bring up one of the things Jackson hated having to deal with at school and talk about. Nodding he confirmed fiercely all of a sudden. "I haven’t told mom or dad, but yes it bothers me a whole lot that other kids say that what she teaches and her gifts are fake and weird and I do what I can to defend her and her seering every day. I love mom it’s just," hard sometimes. But he couldn’t bring himself to say that.
When Gem commented on the giant telescope again Jackson didn’t follow right away, but when he did he smiled weakly almost laughing. "Dad could shrink it, but i doubt it’d fit in the house anyway. The attic is too small."
