Anybody? Dory loved the summer! Warm weather, sunshine, and lots of students roaming Diagon Alley... what's not to like? She made her way out of the back room, levitating a tall stack of boxes containing jewelry and t-shirts in front of her. With a flick of her wand, the boxes gently floated to the floor and opened themselves. Another wave, and the t-shirts sorted themselves on the shelves in neat little piles according to color and design. While that was happening, she unlocked the glass case and arranged an assortment of gemstone necklaces, bracelets, and rings inside. When she was done with that, she sorted the other jewelry by type and hung them on the revolving racks. The rainbow-haired American stepped back to admire her handiwork. There was just one thing missing! She propped a brightly painted sign in the window display; it said: Go back to school in style! All jewelry buy 2, get 1 free! (Free item must be of equal or lesser value) |
Daisy was looking forward to this. She had been wanting both a tattoo and a bellybutton piercing and thanks to her mother and having just turned 16, she was able to. Daisy was carrying a piece of parchment that read: SPOILER!!: Permission Slip "Hello?" Daisy greeted as she rang the bell. |
So sorry for the delay! Holidays happened... Quote:
She approached the counter to see a young girl there. "Hey, what's up?" she greeted with a cheery smile. "Welcome to Paradise! I'm Dory. How can I help you today?" |
That's okay. Quote:

She stepped behind the counter, punching buttons on the cash register. "Okay, so the navel piercing is 8 galleons, 9 sickles, and 25 knuts," she said, doing the calculations in her head as she went. "A standard color tattoo is 10 galleons, 2 sickles, and 11 knuts. Is that good or would you like your tattoo to do something else, like move or glow in the dark?" Because special effects like that made a difference in the pricing! |
Quote:
As Dory informed her of the prices of the tattoo and piercing, Daisy replied with, "I like for the tattoo to stay in its place. The prices sound great! Would you like me to pay you now?" Daisy began reaching into her bag to retrieve some money. |
Dory smiled as she listened to the explanation of the tattoo. "That's as good a reason as any! Kneazles are awesome animals," she said with a slight laugh. "My sister has two of them." Then again, Ann had lots of pets; she was a sucker for all things cute and cuddly! The other reason for the tattoo got an approving nod. "Nothing wrong with house pride! I have a tattoo of a thunderbird- my old Ilvermorny house." She pulled up the sleeve of her hoodie to reveal a blue and cranberry thunderbird flying up her arm. Was she talking too much? Probably. Okay then, back to business... Dory nodded. "Sure, you got it!" she said. "You can go ahead and pay now; then comes the fun part!" And by that, she meant the actual piercing and inking process - well, it was fun for her anyway! She gave Daisy an encouraging smile as she opened the cash register drawer, ready to take the money. "You can go on and wait in the tattoo parlor after you pay." She gestured toward the marked door to her right. "I'll be right there as soon as I count the money. Which would you like to do first, the tattoo or the piercing?" |
Quote:
She counted out her money and handed Dory the correct amount. "Could you do the tattoo first, please?" Daisy asked before making her way into the tattoo parlour. She was getting more and more excited about what was going to happen. |

Turning her attention back to the cash register, she took the money Daisy handed her and began to carefully count it out. She nodded in reply to the question. "Sure thing!" Out of the corner of her eye, she watched Daisy enter tur tattoo parlor; she soon followed. With a flick of her wand, the sign on the door flipped around to read: Quiet, please! Inking in progress. Dory gently closed the door behind her, hoping any customers who came into the store would be considerate enough not to bang on the door while she was inside. Not that she disliked interacting with people - not at all! That was one of her favorite parts of the job. She just didn't want her concentration broken. Dory smiled, gesturing toward the elevated chair in the middle of the room. "Sit there, and uncover the area you'd like your tattoo to go," she said, taking a seat in the smaller swivel chair. She pointed her wand at the cart across the room, and it rolled up to her. She opened a couple of drawers and pulled out some supplies: rubbing alcohol, wipes, vaseline, and a small black pencil. "First, we clean the area; then when that dries I'll trace the outline of the design with this pencil. After that. a layer of vaseline goes on to help the needle glide. Sounds simple, huh?" She waited a couple of minutes for Daisy to get situated before opening the alcohol. "Are you good to go? This might be a little cold..." |
Quote:
Luckily, Daisy was wearing a sleeveless top and a pair of shorts and therefore the area she wanted to have a tattoo wasn't obscured by clothing. "I'd like to have my tattoo on my left shoulder, please," she informed Dory. She listened to Dory explain the procedure and when she was asked if she was ready, Daisy gave a thumbs up. |
Quote:
She laughed, but her expression changed at Daisy's next words. "yeah, I heard about some of what happened...mostly from my customers. " There was one guy who came in last week that looked like that term really did a number on him! "Sounds to me like that headmaster and all his hires belong in Azkaban!" Merlin, she was goad both of her nieces went to Ilvermorny! Dory had all her supplies for this stage of the tattooing ready; she was just waiting for the go-ahead from Daisy. It came in the form of a thumbs-up, and she couldn't resist a smile. That's the spirit!" she said, returning the thumbs-up. She liked this girl's style! She carefully cleaned Daisy's left shoulder with the alcohol and wipes. Once the area was dry, she picked up her black pencil and traced the outline of the kneazle from its enormous ears to its lion-like tail. Then a generous layer of vaseline went on over the drawing. When Dory was done with that, she replaced her tools and opened another drawer, pulling out a few vials of ink in black and various shades of yellow. Once she had her equipment for the next stage set up, she turned to Daisy again. "Now it's time for the inking! I'll start with the outline, then switch to a different needle to fill in the finer details. If it starts to hurt too much, tell me, and we'll take a break. Ready?" Only when she was absolutely sure Daisy was ready would she start inking. |
Quote:
When Dory mentioned a customer, Daisy instantly knew who she was referring to. "You must be referring to Gaston Marchand. He was my Charms professor until the end of the last term. He had to quit because of being very ill. He has been through a lot during the past two years. He is a father-figure to me. We caught up recently at the carnival. His daughter is adorable." Daisy's voice shook with underlying anger. "Personally, I think Azkaban is too good for Scrimgeour and those lowlifes!" Soon it was time to start the inking process. "I am ready!" |
The quiet and fiery red head had been itching to get some more artwork done on her body, including a second piercing. Ami wanted to get a small tattoo that would hint at her patronus, a beautiful little black widow spider. Wallet in hand she entered the shop, a small double take upon hearing the awful bird noise (in her opinion) as she walked in. "Hello?" She voiced ever so softly and relaxed, glancing around and taking in her surroundings. This wasn't much different from the parlor she got her work done in the States, but nonetheless it was very neat and creative. Amidala took out her American identification card to present if needed. SPOILER!!: Identification Card |
Sorry for the delay! Quote:
The rainbow-haired California girl stepped from the back and smiled as she saw the red-haired woman. Her smile grew even wider when she heard her say hello. Oh, she was American too? Cool! She didn't get too many American customers. "Hey, what's up?" she greeted. "My name's Dory. What can I do for you today?" |

Atticus's next stop was Paradise Piercings and Tattoos. And honestly, he could use a new tattoo himself, or maybe a piercing. He hadn't gotten one of those in a long time and he thought of just the perfect spot. Heh. But that wasn't his reason for stopping in today. With an armful of samples, Atticus confidently walked in, looking for the shopkeeper. And there she was tending to a customer. Two gorgeous ladies, what could be better? "Afternoon, ladies," he greeted them with what he considered to be his most charming smile. Double the women, double the charm, of course. "I'll wait my turn, take your time..." Clearly one of them was getting something done today, and she wouldn't mind if he watched while he waited, would she? Unless it was something terribly private, of course. |
Text Cut: Amidala & Atticus Dory smiled. "Nice to meet you, Amidala," she replied. "Cool name, by the way!" It reminded her of a character from a series of No-Maj movies she used to watch with her grandfather. She wondered if Amidala's parents had been Star Wars fans. Was it rude to ask? Never one to keep her thoughts to herself, she decided to go for it. "Were you named for the Star Wars character?" Because that would be awesome! Dory listened as Amidala described what she wanted, already envisioning a tattoo design. "Sure, you got it! " she said. "So that's 3 galleons, 15 sickles, 19 knuts for the piercing and 19 galleons, 8 sickles, 5 knuts for a moving tattoo... the total comes to 24 galleons, 6 sickles, 24 knuts." Great galloping gargoyles, British wizarding currency was complicated! It looked like she'd be faster at calculating it after living in the country for so long, but oh, well... that's life. She had just opened the cash register when the bird call over the door sounded again. Whoa, busy day, huh? The rainbow-haired American looked up as a man she immediately recognized walked in to the store. "Hey, Atticus! What's up, dude?" she greeted her fellow shopkeeper with a friendly smile. "What bring you here today?" |
Crashing too! :D Normally Frankie dealt with Dark witches and wizards who wanted nothing better to do than cause chaos and attempt to knock him out cold. Today, however, he was on the lookout for some vendor that allegedly was up to no good with his business dealings. This type of manhunt wasn't exactly his forte needless to say. The risk was low. The adrenaline wasn't high. He was bored with it all. But here he was, walking into the tattoo parlour on a mission. The area for street vendors was, of course, vacant, so there was really only one thing he could do. Interrogate and hope something would come of it. "Excuse me," the blond interrupted the three that were present, ignoring the tropical bird that sounded the moment he walked in. He flashed his badge at them to show that he was there on serious (though painfully mediocre) business. "Sorry to bother, but there's been reports about some vendor that's been selling 'round here. Apparently selling false artefacts and passing them off as real. Would any of you happen to know anything about that?" |
SPOILER!!: Dory Eeeeeeeep! FINALLY someone got the meaning behind her name correct! Ami let out a quiet giggle and nodded. "I was indeed." Ami could go on and on about her Muggle father's love of Star Wars, but that's a story for another time. The red head nodded, counting the exact amount to be paid. "Perfect, here you go." She handed over the money ever so politely, because the shopkeeper here seemed very nice! Now she was excited to get down to business even if her demeanor seemed serious. SPOILER!!: Atticus Ami reacted to the greeting of the gentleman with a nod in return. "Hi." The red head doesn't recall ever meeting him, but besides all the curiosity had she went back to focus on the shopkeeper and getting her money's worth today. SPOILER!!: Frankie The BADGE! The badge caught her eye for obvious reasons and not to mention that gosh awful bird noise. A vendor selling false artefacts? Hmmmm. |
SPOILER!!: all of you Atticus soon turned his eyes back to Dory. "Just thought I'd see if I could interest you in some merchandise today... but I can wait. I see you're busy right now." Again he flashed that charming smile. "We can talk business in a bit, if you ladies don't mind me hanging around." And that was directed to the redhead as well, since he was mildly interested in what she was getting done today. But he wasn't trying to be a creep about it. He paid no attention to the bird announcing another's arrival, but he did turn was his attention was drawn by the voice. Oh. The law. His eyes briefly fell to the badge but he kept his smile. Nothing to see here. "I'm currently selling some of my merchandise, but everything's legitimate." He might be visiting some of the other shops, but he had his vendor's license and as far as he knew, he had nothing fraudulent. Not that he'd admit it to this guy. But maybe move along now and stop infringing on his business. |
*rearranges* So sorry for the delay! RL threw me a curveball >_< Text Cut: Everybody! Dory couldn't help but giggle along with Amidala. She was glad she'd guessed the origin of her name correctly. This conversation would've taken a really awkward turn if she didn't! "Nice! Gotta love those fictional character names, right?" she replied. And she would know. She was named after a cartoon character herself- and not the one everybody usually associated with her name. She took the money Amidala handed her and carefully counted it... not that she didn't trust her, of course. Re-counting the money herself was a force of habit. A bell sounded as she opened the drawer to the tiki head-shaped cash register and placed the money inside. "Awesome! You're all set." Dory was about to tell Amidala to wait in the tattoo parlor when Atticus happened. Blink, blink. So he was trying to boost business by hitting up other people's shops? That was a new one for her, but to each their own! The mention of merchandise did remind her of something. "Now that you mention it, I have been meaning to get some new tuneage for the juke box," she said. "I'll stop by the shop later." The light glinted off her many piercings as she raised an eyebrow. So he was planning on sticking around then? Okay, that was unexpected... but she was good with that as long as Amidala was. She shot the redhead a questioning look, as if to ask if she was okay with it. "That's cool. Feel free to check out the tees and jewelry while you wait -" She gestured toward the display along the right wall. "-or you can chill in the lounge." Dory's rainbow head whipped around as the bird call over the door sounded for the third time with in only a span of a few minutes. She smiled at the guy who walked in, but before she could offer help, he was flashing a badge and launched into his business. Well, this guy didn't waste any time, did he? Wow, the ministry must have a lot of spare time on their hands if they were sending law enforcement into people's shops over false artifacts... not that sh'ed say that out loud! So far, Dory wasn't too worried about the intrusion. Everything she sold was exactly what it said on the tin: tattoos, jewelry, and various apparel. "Could it be a street vendor you're looking for?" she asked. "Those dudes come and go so fast, it's hard to keep track of them, but I did see a sketchy-looking guy a few days ago." It would would help her put a face with a stand if she knew what kind of "fraudulent artifacts" they were talking about! |
SPOILER!!: You guys ^_^ Ami normally didn't have an audience when getting her tattoos but, eh, she didn't mind it either. Afterall the art work wasn't going to be placed anywhere requiring discretion. "Not at all." She softly replied to the gentleman selling his samples and turned focus back on Dory. The red head chuckled and nodded at Dory, "my father is quite the Star Wars addict." Her father would take Ami to muggle comic-con conventions when she was a young child, dressing her as Queen Amidala and he as his favorite Chewbacca character. Ami watched as the money was cashed in and nodded once more, "perfect." She replied. The red head wanted to get this done ASAP! She hadn't eaten yet and was feeling little grumbles, therefore making her pretty hangry. |
Blue eyes shifted from one person to the next. One of them he recognized from his department. Considering he had only seen her at a meeting, he had no idea what her name was or even which division she worked in. Regardless, Frankie knew that she was clean. Though it was quite a coincidence that they happened to bump into each other in a tattoo parlour of all places. Not that he cared to delve into that further when there was a criminal to be caught. Naturally, his gaze then honed on the first to speak, who Frankie recognized from the music shop from one of his visits years ago. The blond gave the man a simple nod of his head. He was certain everything in the shop was legitimate, but he'd check in on what the guy was doing outside of his shop just to cover his bases. He would be doing that later though. Eyes then turned on who he presumed to be the owner of the establishment. He nodded his head again. "More than likely a street vendor, yes," the Auror confirmed before his brow rose at the mention of someone that looked sketchy. "Could you describe the guy for me please? Whereabouts on the street did you see him? Do you recall what he was selling?" |
And it appeared that Dory was already interested, so maybe it wouldn't be a hard sell at all. That was just as Atticus liked it, so even better. But leave? He didn't want to do that without the sale. "Actually, yes," he nodded at Dory's suggestion. "I think I will check out some of the jewelry. Maybe I'll get a new piercing while I'm here." And after she was done with her customer, of course. And it seemed as if the woman getting the tattoo didn't mind him sticking around anyway. He gave her what he'd consider a very charming smile. "In that case, I'm interested in what kind of ink you're getting." It tended to say a lot about a person. But he wasn't going to stand there and stare anyway. That would be creepy. Atticus didn't really care to have the law on his back so he was somewhat relieved that the guy had questions for his fellow shopkeeper instead of him. Not that he was doing anything illegitimate, but the man's presence just made him uncomfortable, even if he wasn't showing it. He'll just move along towards the piercing jewelry, thanks. |
