Though numerous street peddlers line the streets of Diagon Alley, customers would be wise to be wary of them. Any number of items can be found hawked on the streets daily, many useless and some illegal. One might be able to buy a cheaper wand, running the risk of it exploding during use. Bottoms have been known to fall out of the defective cauldrons bought from one of the carts. Not all is bad, though. Discounted jewelry can be bought, though the gold or gems may not be pure. One some days, a hag comes through with a cart of wind-chimes, some proclaimed to warn of burglars. Often, knick-knacks and small décor can be found in various carts. Be warned, though – sometimes the items being sold have been stolen from others.
Beyond item hawkers, various stalls are set up selling street food. Try a Cauldron Bread (a bred bowl carved out with soup or chowder served inside), stop by and grab some skewers/kebabs to go, hit up the Confetti Popcorn (the fizzy popcorn is supposedly made with real Muggle soda and fizzes in your mouth; dill pickle flavored even crunches like a pickle; berry flavored popcorn actually has dried cranberries, which goes well with the raspberry, blackberry and strawberry flavored popcorn). If you’re looking for a quick snack, the streets have enough. |

Olliver {Ollie} Stratton | Brain Twin | MASTAH ASHURRII | Reisdent PokeNerd | Digifangirl Ollie knew better than to head to the Leaky Cauldron before work. The last time he tried to stop in for a quick lunch, he wound up spending far to long with his dear friend, chatting. Mozzie had a rather annoying habit for being incredibly chatty which could be endearing and darling, but did him no good when he was in a time crunch. Oh, sure, it was partly his fault, too - he could have kept better track of the time. But he liked to catch up with her!
Out here, he could stop over here, greet Grettle Pansie and get himself a large bag of Fizzy Confetti Popcorn and a teriyaki kebab from Agustus Hockenbocker. While it would all wash down quite well with a bottle of butterbeer, Ollie instead opted for a bottle of cherry syrup and soda. Fizzy and tasty. All was fine.
As he walked along, munching on handfuls of his confetti corn (it really did fizzle in his mouth, too! How strange!), he cast his eyes to the sky above. Rather grey, a little drizzly, though he knew better than to expect much else from the area. Ollie didn't mind too much. While he greatly appreciated the golden rays sunshine cast upon him, the warm orange glow, the long shadows of afternoon, he also appreciated the shades of grey in an overcast sky, the cool air caressing his skin, the crawling sensation of the drizzle in his hair.
A quick check to his watch told him he had a short while yet until he had to be in to the Prophet, thus he had a little while yet to meander around, and maybe check out the little street carts. |

Leon Odessa Gringotts Head Curse-Breaker | The Eye of Sauron | | Snake Charmer The cauldron bread was good, but not particularly simple to eat when one was in a hurry. Not that Leon was today in a hurry to be anywhere, but walking and eating required a special kind of skill here in Diagon Alley where you could crash into five people in the split second you took to look where you were putting your mouth.
Still, the tomato, mushroom and green pepper soup was a little hard to resist on cooler days. And on grey and drizzly days like this one, it was a bit of comfort to make up for socks that were getting just a little wet.
He bought some cauldron bread with his favourite flavour and took up a spot near the wall, partly for shelter and partly so that he could eat without that crashing thing. He wore a tailored suit just visible under his robes, which were open in front despite the weather.

Sadie walked along the street vendors in Diagon Alley a little bit hesitantly. There were some creepy looking witches and wizards trying to sell items that would probably blow up in her face or someone nearby. She tried to avoid them and said a lot of 'No thanks' as best she could, veering around them. Some things interested her and others didn't. She finally came to vendors who were selling different flavors of popcorn. She had always had a thing for the muggle food but looking closely, this wasn't normal popcorn.
The girl decided to buy the popcorn that was dill pickle flavored seeing as she had always loved pickles. When she tried it she was amazed to find it really did taste like dill pickles. Smiling, she went to go look at a vendor who was selling jewelry. She picked up a necklace to examine it more closely.

He'd just polished off one of those cauldron bread things and was now examining the other wares the vendors were selling with a sense of detachment. There was nothing new. Why wasn't there ever anything new?
he turned his grin on the tall blonde -she was practically the same height as him, though she was probably finished growing where he felt as if he was stretching inches daily- and leaned against a table, ignoring the vendor's glare.
Tables were for leanin' after all.

Tables were for leanin' after all. Sadie looked upon the rest of the jewelry. Gah this stuff probably was as fake as you could find a diamond. She heard someone say the necklace could be cursed and looked up to see a good looking guy just magically appear. At least he wasn't some creep. Then again she hardly knew him so he still could be one.
She smiled slightly as she replied back with, " Well, then my death with be tragedy wouldn't it?" Hmph... She put the necklace down and found a big blue opal looking ring. Ehhh this was probably more trash. She put it back down and walked over to another vendor who was selling all sorts of knick-knacks, seeing if the guy would follow.

With his beat friend nowhere in sight, Stephen strolled along the street, minding his own business. There wasn't much for him to do if he had n o guide to show him where everything was. That Kat girl offered but she was a demented child and Stephen just had to get away from her and the other girl. If he knew Lexi pretty well, which he did, she'd probably in the girlie-like shops right now.
Ehh, oh well.

Ahh, street vendors. They amused Lexi, usually to the point where she ended up buying some half-real piece of jewelry from one of them. She'd never purchased a wand, though. No, no, having it backfire and singe one of her dear students' hair was not something on the top of her priority list.
She kept an eye out for a vendor or two as she walked down the streets of Diagon Alley. She had yet to see any, which was just as well, since she didn't plan to buy much today. She was mainly out and about for a social outing. She'd left the house this morning with hopes of catching up with a friend or two before it was time to leave for Hogwarts. Only, come to think of it, she was having a hard time finding her friends, too...

Nolan was on the hunt for sweets. He was not in a good mood and sweets always made everything better, right? Right. As he walked by the numerous street vendors, he couldn't help but do a bit of window shopping and see if anything interesting caught his eye. Usually he passed over the shady looking stands, but every once in a while he saw some fancy Divination equipment that he just HAD to have. Most of it was tucked away in his vault now, but he still took pride in his collection.
He bit his lip and looked around, looking for food again and remembering that he needed comfort food. Although if he DID happen to see something that interested him, retail therapy couldn't hurt either, right?
As he walked by, he smiled a bit at some of the kids he passed--obviously students. Regardless of how down he was right now he still wanted to be seen as the friendly professor he was. Sniffle. As he pondered over whether or not popcorn was acceptable comfort food, he noticed his colleague, Lexi Carlton, standing nearby. He smiled at her and nodded. "Hello Lexi," he said with a soft smile. He wasn't sure if he was in the mood to talk but...he still needed to be polite!

Either she was becoming a really familiar to some of the street vendors, or she'd actually happened to find a friend. Or, from the sound of it, the friend had found her. She paused mid-step and thought about the voice she'd just heard. It sounded fairly familiar...
She turned around and came face to face with Nolan Reynolds, her friend and co-worker at Hogwarts. "Oh, Nolan! Hey!" she happily greeted. "Aren't you a site for sore eyes? It's been...well, all summer. How've you been?" Oddly enough, Lexi had seen or talked to any of her co-workers all summer. She'd been so excited to see Ty and Al that she really hadn't thought about contacting any friends. She'd have to pay more attention to that the next time there was a break.

Ehh, oh well. The streets were kinda packed and Adam meandered his way over to the street vendors because he was hungry. Examining the different foods, his hand lingered over the pop-corn. Maybe he'd get some for tonight; if him and Lorelai were having a movie night-in, then this pop corn would be fab. Hand hovering over it, he picked one up at random and handed over a couple of sickles. Now to find Tyler.
Then Adam remembered that he wasn't coming back to Hogwarts. Gosh, his best mate wasn't going to be there for their last year. It was going to be absolutely awful without him.
Turning around, he shoved the pop-corn in his bag and knocked into someone by accident. "'Scuse me," he said as he brushed past the guy.

If he had been aware, he probably would have made use of such things, another technique to reel 'em in.
Hearing the voices of two adults talking, James looked up, made a slight face and then moved along, trailing after the tall blondie. Obviously she wanted him to anyway right? He might have taken the opportunity to perve a little bit.
Not discreet at all.

Not discreet at all. " I'm sure they would," Sadie agreed, tucking her curly blond hair behind her ear. The slight breeze today wasn't giving her hair justice at all today. Then again her parent's would probably kill her again if she did die so carelessly.
She turned to see he had in fact followed so that was a point in her book. She smiled to herself and looked around on the table, picking up a book that read 17 Ways to Tame the Most Savage Beasts. Yeah right. Who would pay money for that.
" Any particular reason you're seeming to take more interest in me than this junk?" she questioned, her back still facing him. That comment earned her a dirty look from the vendor and she stuck her tongue out at him.

Lexi narrowed her eyes in confusion, wondering just what could have happened that had Nolan so down. Maybe it was the fact that the summer holidays were at an end, and the school year would be starting soon. That had to be it. As much as Lexi loved her job, she loved a holiday just as well.
She felt sort of weird talking about her summer break when it seemed that Nolan's hadn't really been good at all. "Oh, I---... Nolan, are you alright?" she asked, changing her mind at the last minute and opting to make sure there wasn't anything she could do to make her friend and co-worker feel any better. "Mulling...over a popcorn purchase?" Now she was really confused. Surely popcorn wasn't the cause of all this sadness. "What do you mean?" She wasn't letting him off the hook that easily!

He could, if something like that happened, talk his way out of it, but he probably wouldn't because he'd enjoy seeing what it'd be like being blamed for something serious like that. He could always talk himself out of it later after all.
"Oh, you wanted compliments!" Jimmy smacked his forehead theatrically, always the joker.
Hmmmm good question. "Not so far today." Jimmy answered with a shrug to punctuate it. Nope.
Nobody to snog. How sad.

Nobody to snog. How sad. " You definitely seem like the type," Sadie mused, walking passed him to another vendors table. For all she knew he already did. She looked around at the table, viewing the cheap wands and cauldrons. Err... maybe she should get a fake wand to get payback at Xander for setting her room on fire that one time.
Sadie just rolled her eyes as he smacked his forehead. " Yes, compliments would be nice," she told him, picking up a fake wand.
Not so far today? Yeah she could have guessed he was a player like that. Not that the girl had a problem with that. " Well maybe if you're good you will," she offered with a smile. She never had a problem with it.

Nolan shook his head. "Nah, I'm fine," he lied, turning his attention to the popcorn stand once more. "I'm just trying to decide if I'm in the mood for popcorn, or in the mood for something sweet like candy," he explained with a smile. Maybe if he smiled, she'd stop asking if he was ok. Cause he wasn't. BUT he wasn't in the mood to reaccount the entire story of his explosive fight with Ginger, where they decided to call the wedding off and, in a fantastically idiotic move, Nolan had chucked her racing broom out the window and broken the handle.
That had resulted in HIS things ending up out on the street, and him staying at his sister's for a week. Even though Ginger had taken him back and let him come home, she was still angry over the broom and the wedding was still on hold. Sigh. "Got any lessons planned out?" he asked with another grin. Man, he should have gone into acting. He was clearly a pro.

Giving up on looking for Lexi, someone had bumped into Stephen. "Oof," he huffed quietly as the tall kid brushed passed him. "Well, you're excused," Stephen said and looked back at the guy. C'mon, he wasn't that short for a fourteen-year-old boy. He was pretty tall actually. Well, maybe not as tall as the guy but still.

Sadie just rolled her eyes as he smacked his forehead. "Yes, compliments would be nice," she told him, picking up a fake wand.
Not so far today? Yeah she could have guessed he was a player like that. Not that the girl had a problem with that. "Well maybe if you're good you will," she offered with a smile. She never had a problem with it. "Thanks." James answered graciously. "I'm not all that bad really. Misunderstood maybe, but not... you know, bad." Today anyway. He gave her an innocent look.
"Compliments. Lets see. Well you probably know that you're pretty, and its hot that you're tall and all... but since you ARE pretty you've probably heard it a whole lot and by now you know that there are more important things? And it isn't like you can help being gorgeous. So maybe you'll let me buy you a drink, get to know you better and let me find something real to compliment you on?" Then he gave her a cheeky grin. "And maybe if I'm good..."

Man, he should have gone into acting. He was clearly a pro. Oh. Well it just sounded like Nolan needed a bit of persuasion to step in the right direction...toward the candy, for instance. Lexi's facial expression changed from one of concern to one of...well, normal, bubbly Lexi. "Oh, well in that case, I think you should go for the candy. It tastes better than popcorn," she advised. Lexi occasionally liked popcorn, but for the most part, she thought it was really bland compared to other sweets.
Nolan was smiling, which made Lexi smile even more. All thoughts of something bad having happened to her friend completely left her mind. Nolan was alright...she was almost sure of it. Something deep down inside told her to keep a careful watch on him, though. "Lesson plans? Oh, umm...no," she admitted, blushing just a little. Lexi wasn't exactly the kind to focus on school during the holidays, so she'd given little thought to what she'd actually teach this year. "Why? Umm, have you? I mean, should I have? I don't want to fall behind or anything." Then again, she could always get started soon and by the time the feast began, she'd likely at least have a few ideas.

Until she got to know him she was going to go by what she thought was true of him.
The blond girl listened as he started listing compliment after compliment and just stood there in satisfaction. " You compliment well kid. And yes I've heard a lot of that before. Maybe not from some of the right guys though." Yeah some of it was more like a plea for her to go out with them. " But I'd like to take you up on that offer, and we'll see how good you are," she added with a smirk. Heh.

"James Sacheverell Wilkes at your service, I usually go by Jimmy or Jim so... take your pick." Jim offered his hand. "Feel like ice cream or are you the kind of girl who worries about her figure?" Jimmy eyed her up and down and grinned all cheeky-like.
