What did you think of Neville's performance? Was he spectacular or did he fizzle?

Well I will kick this discussion off I think that they wasted a talented actor like Matthew in this movie. He had one line but he was in several scenes that he could have had minor lines in. I really hope they give Neville the speaking time he deserves in Deathly Hallows.

i agree with you. i only remember seeing nevill in the 1st potions class. i was upset he didn't have more lines like in the other movies. it's like they're putting him down.

I didn't like that they took away his moments. They spent a lot of time on Malfoy and like zero on Neville. At least we know that in DH he has a few big parts.. Unless they decide to give them to someone else

I was...so distraught over Neville's lack of screentime in HBP Actually, let me rephrase that--he had a lot of screentime but hardly any lines! Only two I mean, even in the other movies, like CoS where he was a minor character in the books, he had more lines than in this one. The thing I really missed too was that they always made Neville the comic relief--not in this one, though

It's ok though, cause we all KNOW Matt is a brilliant actor despite the lousy role they gave Neville in HBP. He'll get his shining moments in the next movie

Oh, I doubt they'll give his parts away In fact, he's been GIVEN a lot of parts in the movies, with the exception of HBP Like finding the Room of Requirement and giving Harry the gillyweed...didn't he steal those parts from Dobby?

Well see I always hated that they made Neville the comic relief, like he was a joke or something when Neville is just as deep as Hermione. I mean his character has more of a back story than Hermione does. They took away his scene in OoTP between him and the trio with his mom and dad and I was really looking forward to that. And its like if they stopped shuffling people's lines and keep them with the person who said them it would be gravy you know

I just wished they would have looked at Neville as we all look at him. He totally rocks!!

That's true, I really did miss that scene It would have been a tear jerker for sure, but it would have made the whole backstory with Neville a lot clearer to those people who HAVEN'T read the books.

I really wanted to see more of Neville and Luna in the movie. I don't know why they do what they do, but I have never come out of a Harry Potter movie feeling so disappointed. I've always loved the movies, and I've always felt like they did great with them. But, this time was different. At the end of the move, I was like...that was it? I mean, it was a great movie, it was terrific. But I felt like they left too much out and they changed too much.

Well to me it was like they concentrated on one or two minor things that overshadowed the movie

I mean the tension between Ron and Hermione was just totally overblown and it took like 7 or 8 scenes in the movie so we didn't get a good background on the horcruxs, we didn't get to see all of Dumbledore's memories. That little scene at the burrow could have been left out and they could have done like a flash forward scene and combined like 2 or 3 things into it (kinda like a dream sequence)

The HP plot line seemed to have been lost in this movie. Its a filler movie and not a stand alone, with its own plot kinda movie like the other movies have been you know.

I liked the movie, even if it did leave out a bunch of things. But they did cover the Horcrux and Snape killing Dumbledore. Poor Neville got a bum break in this movie though. But the next movie should have a more interesting view of him. (I sincerely hope)
