I have this thing with reading the book a few times before the movie comes out (with GoF I only got to read it once coz of stoopy school) anywho...I'm reading OOTP and I really can't wait for the DA scenes (if there are any...there should be or I'm protesting or something else to show my displeasure). Post Azkaban breakout where our Neville becomes determined to learn DADA. I was really proud of Neville when I first read that! What about you guys?

I think my favourite scenes will have to be in the Ministry of Magic. I really thought that Neville would take revenge on Bellatrix Black but it didn't happen. Another one are with the DA classes where he hexes Harry. And another one is when he tries to beat up Malfoy in the dungeons.

I like the scene in the first book where he finally, finally gives the rich brat Malfoy what he was asking for. I still think Neville is a severely underrated character. JKR could've done great things with him...

i love neville (though not as much as ron) i think neville & luna will be great together.

The best ting in book 5 that Neville was more stronger and begun to trust himself. He had argued with Draco and tried to protect Ginny and went with Harry to the Ministry. Really, I was happy to see Neville Like that.I think some of the reasons that he didn't trust himslef was his grandmother. She always made him feel that he is not like his parents but less than him and we see that in book 6 when Neville was choosing the classes he will take. I don't know but I feel that I don't like his grandmother.

Thats why i love him, somebody who does something like that is special(in a good way)

Yes. I noticed that too. It made my heart smile to see his confidence rise during that book. It was a result of Bellatrix's escape from Azkaban and when I think of what Neville has gone through...well it's not something I'd wish on my worst enemies. Seeing his parents but not knowing if they recognise him or not is horrible. I got a little jolt of happiness when his mother gave him the lolly wrapper.
After the DE's escape you saw a more resolute Neville. Like the book says (soooo papaphrasing here ) No one in the DA improved as quickly as Neville, besides maybe Hermione.
His grandmother Seriously. The reason Neville is so self-doubting and lacks confidence would have to be this woman and to a lesser extent his family (throwing him out a window to see if he was a squib or not? Harsh mate. Thank goodness he bounced no?).
And I agree Meandering, Jo could have done so much more with Neville. Then again she said she could do so much more with Dean too...Maybe for my birthday she can write me a few book soley on these two? *wishfull thinking*

This is something I like in the books, they way Jo ages and matures her characters, especially with Neville. He has had a long time being the resident awkward, bumbling, shy bloke that he is, so it's an absolute pleasure in seeing him mature and improve and all that, especially in OotP. It's a bit off topic, its the same thing she does with Ron, I think. I'd like to see Jo do more about these two in the last book.

Exactly! The only people that he's had a crush on are Hermione and possibly Ginny. But both of those aren't going to happen...I don't think he'll be paired up with anybody in the end, it's just left to us to make up our own endings after he's grown up (hopefully, he does) and left Hogwarts.

Nothing too big and scary. Even if you've never written before you can have a go with a little short. Let's make it shipping since we all seem to have opinions on that. Neville/Whichever female Hogwarts student you'd like. Keeping nice and SS appropriate of course. What do you guys think?

And on Neville/Luna shipping. JK herself has said it will not happen. They may be outsiders but that's where the similarities end. Luna, bless her cork lovin heart, is a bit much for Neville. It wouldn't work....still. If written well any ship can float. I do, and probably will always, love N/L. It's so sweet to think two ppl who don't really feel like they belong kind find a place of comfort with each other. Like coming home. *le sigh*
