Default Older Music (70s, 80s, 90s, etc)

Do you remember all the music that used to play all the time over the radio? Backstreet Boys, N'Sync, Poison, Guns 'N Roses, Nirvana. and all the rest of the different types of music?

Well, who was your favorite? What did you like?
Well, for me, I used to be OBSESSED with Backstreet Boys. Yes, I admit it, and my favorite was Nick. . Anyways, I used to love those pop songs. Call me a dork, but I admit I was obsessed.

Now I like 80s rock songs. Espiecally things like Poison and Guns 'N Roses and the rest.

Who else likes older music? What was your favorite back then?

Well I love loads of older music myself...I really like the Ramones, Credence Clearwater Revival, Johnny Cash...he is the only country-esque music I can listen too just because he is a great musician...The Who, The Smashing Pumpkins, Weezer (started in the late 80's early 90's I do believe...the are over 13 years old.)...Blondie, The Cure...and much more.

I love The Beatles~~ They have quirky songs and their music is sooo different from what they have know. They're lyrics were so simple yet so unbelievably awesome!

I admit that I was a fan of the Spice Girls for a while when I was much younger. It's my darkest secret - which is why I'm spilling it on an Internet forum (duh). It's probably analogous to girls fawning over the Backstreet Boys

Apart from, um, that...
The usual stuff: Beatles, Sex Pistols, The Cure, Pink Floyd, The Ramones, The Kinks. Never liked the Stones, though, I'm a Beatles man all the way.

I love The Cure, N'Sync (it was a short phase), Spice Girls, Pink Floyd, The Beatles (Strawberry Fields Forever is ah-mazing), Queen, Blondie, and Johnny Cash.

I am going to be very honest about this. My favorite band of all time is Led Zeppelin, who were very big in the 70s and were really pioneers of heavy metal as we know it today. All of their music is exceptional, the lyrics are insightful, Robert Plant's vocals are superb, Jimmy Page's guitar sensational, and I think it really does withstand the test of time as some of the greatest music ever recorded.

Oh yes, I completely forgot about that. Blur were great, sad that they're no longer active.
Damon Albarn is, though, and he's still awesome.

Oh jeez. 90s music is older music now? *dies*

I was going on in the TP about Stone Temple Pilots reuniting, and only a couple of people knew what I was talking about I was deeply saddened.

But yes, that nifty grunge renaissance sure did spawn some classics Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Alice in Chains...good stuff.

LOL i cant believe you lumped the boy bands with GNR and Nirvana . GNR and Nirvana are like a whole different level, heavyweights that are given due reverence, never to be taken lightly unlike the boy bands.

They were just examples. They're all basically put in the same group here because they are what we are talking about--the great bands of the past decades. You can't deny that the boy bands contributed to some of the best years of the 90s. That's how I see it. They're all great.

I've just discovered the awesome power that is called Day Tripper. Okay, I didn't just discover it, but I just listened to it. For all you weirdos who doesn't know that Day Tripper is a Beatles song, then you're a weirdo. Haha. But I'm now getting more and more into the older songs, I mean the ones who were there before my mom was born. I'm an old soul on the inside.

You just made me nostalgic. Even though I wasn't around for The Beetles or Nirvana, or other similar bands, I've listened to them, and I ADORE them. Some of my favourites.

[T] Backstreet Boys:

Super favourite band to this day, I love it more than my own life. Seriously! Their songs are just... plain beautiful. I can listen to them for hours at a stretch, and never get bored. AWESOME band!

[T] N'Sync:

Another, current favourite. Love the songs!

[T] The Beatles:

I think 'Let it be' was the first, Beatles song that I listened to. I'd always heard a lot of them but, back then, when I heard their music for the first time - I was absolutely taken in. I adore their songs, adore their lyrics, adore their work.

[T] ABBA:

I remember my father talking of this band when I was barely five or six years old, I think. I didn't even hear any real music, then. But, later on, I listened to their songs, and I found them pretty nice. 'Money, Money, Money' and 'I Have a Dream' are two of my favourites.

[T] Guns 'N Roses:

Another awesome band! I love their songs, brilliant work.

80s rock = love.

A lot of the stuff I listen to nowadays is probably based off of that stuff. The hard drums and whatnot are pretty much the base of the songs.

Favorite to come out of the 80's: DEFINITELY Billy Idol. =D

*ignores the spice girls part*

I know I don't know you but I love you.....because you like whitesnake.

*closes eyes and reminisces....*

I got to see Whitesnake AND Alice Cooper AND Kiss AND Lordi AND Poison AND Ozzy Osbourne all in one go it was the best.....all the old metallers and the Bogans and the younger generation (which I technically fit into) all rocking out......it was a 2 day event and it was AWESOME. And it had special effects throughout the entire show done by WETA workshop....those are the dudes that did Lotr and King Kong.

I'm getting teary just thinking about it.

I absolutely Love the Beatles and Queen (although to young to have been able to appreciate them the first time round).

I am thoroughly an 80s child. I still go to see Erasure, Pet Shop Boys and Alison Moyet even now. I'm also lucky enough to have tickets to see the legends that are George Michael and Elton John. Total Flash backs.

From the 90s, completely Take That. I was the happiest girl on the planet when they got back together a couple of years ago, and even happier when I got to see them again live.

I think each decade has some brilliant artists, you just forget how great they truely were as time goes on. I was lucky enough to be at the Wembley Foo Fighters gig where Jimmy Page from Led Zepplin joined them on stage and that was just once in a life time stuff. Brilliant
