Anita Imogen Volt Magical Transportation | How much do you learn about your favourite musicians Sorry for the long title. I was just wondering how much information do you find out regarding your favourite singers and bands. Do you just learn the songs? Do you learn about what role each member plays in the band? Do you learn about their history? Tell me here in this thread.
With bands that I really love I try to learn as much as I can. Take the Beatles for example. I know most of their songs off by heart. I know who wrote which song and the vocal/instrumental roles. I also know the Beatles story.
With musicans that I am not as big a fan of, I try my best to learn their songs off by heart. |

Liliana Hayman Department of Mysteries | Well, it really depends on the artists If I really really like them sometimes I find out as much as I can about them, or if they're from a certain country that I like I see what I can find out just for something to do. Sometimes I'll know the band but not the name of the song so that's why I try and find out things about them because it makes it easier to find out the song title...but other than that, if I love the song, I at least find something out about it.. |

| Well, I listen to more bands than soloists, so I kind of read up on the band's history and what not and get all their songs (if I really love them, otherwise I just get some of their songs). I also try and make sure I understand what each song is about (otherwise the band's message won't be getting across to me, and I won't be able to judge how well they've said what they wanted to say, musically and emotionally) Mostly, though, I tend to find out as much as I can about the singer of the band (I tend to get really obsessed with singers...) It's probably 'cause I sing myself, and because they're (generally) the face of the band and are damn good vocalists. I have a soft spot for keyboard players too, as I play the piano. With guitarists, bassists and drummers, though, I never know how to judge how good they are, so I just take them as part of the band, and as long as they can play that riff/beat I particularly like well in live videos on YouTube, I'm happy. |

| I generally get as much knowledge as is publicly available about the bands and their pasts, formations, song inspirations, etc. I try not to dig too deep into their personal lives. As a rule, if they wouldn't reveal it themselves, I wont seek it out. |

| I'm quite scary in the fact that I research them to a fault. I love to know what makes people tick, thus indicated by my addiction to biographys lol. |

Well I tend to know basic facts about the artists-where they're from, the genre they work in, stuff like that.
For Linkin Park however.... I know their names, the band history, what they do in the band, the albums they've done, what songs i haven't got yet, their wives names...lol anything You cooooooould call me a fangirl... |

Hogwarts RPG Name: Jett C. Jackson Fourth Year | Errmm. I tend to be pretty obsessive when I like people. xD
My favourite band, for example, are the Jonas Brothers. I know absolutely everything about them. Yep, obsessive.
Other people I like, I learn general stuff and I'm pretty good at learning songs off by heart anyway. |

Hogwarts RPG Name: Shel Ambrose Seventh Year | It depends. If I find an artiste/ band really impressive, I always try to learn as much about them as I can. Lyrics, magazine articles, pictures, online information sources - I browse through everything. Only if the artiste/ band impresses me a lot, though. |

Mona Artemis Quigley Accidents & Catastrophes | I agree with Maxshie. It depends on my level of obsession. For example, I'm a big Distillers fan and have every (full-length) album and know all the words to everything ever. Of course, I'm less obsessed than my teenybopper Backstreet Boys days, but I still tend towards obsession sometimes |

Roxie B. Mathias Magical Creatures | Ummm...I'm not terribly nosy. Just a general middle-of-the-night-can't-sleep-nothing-to-do thing on Wikipedia as far music research goes. If I hear th gossip on TV by chance, I hear it, but I honestly pay attention to the music, man. I'm all about the music. *mellow*
Peace. |

Jacob Webster International Cooperation | How much I research a band really depends on the band - and also how much time I have to do so. Usually though, I'll become attached to one member of the band and learn a ton about them. The bands I know the most about all the members are Green Day, AFI, From First to Last, and My Chemical Romance. Besides them, I tend to learn general things: genre, albums, country, members' names, etc. |
