I've been playing guitar for two years and a bit now and I'm classically trained although I also play a lot of rock and alternative for fun. I'm getting into jazz and big band music now since I joined orchestra in school.
One of my influences is Tyler Hilton. His guitar style nicely fits in with his lyrics and his playing is very distinctive along with his voice.
How long have you been playing guitar? What styles do you play in? Are you in a band or musical group? Who are your influences?
I taught myself to play the guitar as we dont have much money. I can play quite a few things now. I'm still learning though. I'm not really sure who influenced me into wanting to play the guitar but I enjoy playing it now.
i've wanted to learn how to play guitar for FOREVER!!!! i haven't started yet but i think i'm fixing to..and when i DO start my influence would either be slash or the guitarist from DragonForce (i don't know his name)

I was trained classically to start but always had a thing for noise so started on the electric guitar when I was 12. *nods*. I'm not in a band at the moment....not since high-school - I just jam with my son *grins* he's nearly 5 and he can play those pots and pans like a machine.

Its really a hobby thing for me; I write lyrics and play and occassionally just jam with my mates. Theres nothing better than picking up a guitar, sitting around a fire and having a few beers with your mates.
Ive been playing guitar for about 6 years. I had lessons for about 2 years and from then ive just taught myself.
I play mostly Rock/Alternative that sort of stuff and im in a band with my friend who plays the drums. I song aswell. Were called Bleep.
I love playing the guitar, although I do play on Guitar Hero too much I so agree with Connor [Nico.T] that there's nothing better than playing it out of doors... I like to flaunt the fact I can play too...

I've never been trained, I'm just the bog-standard self taught guy... I started 5 years ago on the acoustic, then got a electro for my last birthday. Tis awesome!
I'm managing my way through shredding right now, though. It's kinda very tricky (to me ), anyone able to give some tips?
