Conference Room

The conference room is a very simple yet stylish circular room where meetings will be held. In the center of the room is a large circular table fitted with more then enough chairs for each member of the department. Your Head of the Department feels this setting is much more comfortable and doesn't put themselves above anyone else.

One wall if nothing but floor to ceiling windows allowing in what appears to be natural light but how could that be since they are on the ninth level? The ceiling appears to let in light as well. Clearly the room is charmed to allow this happen.

Scattered about the room are a few plants to give it a touch of comfort as well.

So please take a seat and lets begin!

Normal Addison Anders held a Welcome Back gathering in the Break Room upon returning for a new year. This time around she was rather pregnant expecting the birth of her daughter to be Mid-April. That being said she had just thought that this room would be more fitting and comfortable. The light that shone in through the windows and the plants gave off a lovely warm relaxing feel.

The blonde did know that her department had grown used to and were fond of the foods she had always supplied. So when they entered the room there was a long table along the wall which held bagels and cream cheese or butter, muffins, donuts, coffee, milk, orange juice or bottles of water. There was also a basket of fresh fruit should they rather those instead. Hopefully it was enough and on one would mind the change.

Addison herself had taken one of the seats at the table which she had slightly turned towards the door so she could see who came in. The chairs were charmed for extra comfort which she very much enjoyed today. On the table in front of her was her drink and breakfast but she hadn't started eating. A hand rested lightly on her stomach as she waited for the first of her team to arrive, there was a few things she wanted to go over this morning.

As arranged, the minister arrived just prior to the meeting's start. She smiled at Anders and joined her near the front of the room though she didn't sit down.

"How are you, Addison?" Did the younger woman mind first name basis? And would her employees be arriving soon? Althea hoped so, she was on a tight schedule.

Delphina Prior entered the conference room of the Department of Mysteries, and spotted her boss and... 'Blimey,' she said, eyebrows raised in surprised. 'Ministress for Magic, Mrs Scabior, hello.' She was rather shocked at the presence of the MINISTER for magic. Ministress? Well, she just didn't know the right title. Delphina had found herself in the conference room with two very important people. Two VIPs. 'Hello again Addison,' she added to her boss, giving her a smile, which was as confident as she could muster, being that she WAS IN THE PRESENCE OF TWO VIPs! Merlin!

Val entered into the conference room as soon as he received word of the meeting. He had been brewing over some calculations regarding the volume of gravity past the Kuiper Belt, nothing worth mentioning just yet but in due time most definitely. Setting it aside for later he headed over to the meeting and was greeted by the pleasant surroundings. His hazel eyes found three already there, his boss, a fellow colleague whose name nearly escaped him given their many brief encounters and the newly elected Minister of Magic. Very interesting.

"Good day, Delphina, Addison. Minister Scabior." He uttered out saving the highest rank for last. Since more were expected to arrive, Val made his way over to collect some water and a bagel before taking a spot.

Blaire had slipped in right after Val, her mind still swimming with thoughts of temporal healing. She'd just recently read a fascinating article on the subject and had been writing out her own findings when she realized it was time for the meeting.

"Morning all. Hello Minister." A polite nod was given as the time manipulation specialist settled in her seat, gaze shifting from one blonde to the other before settling finally on her department head. It wasn't every day the minister attended department meetings and she was quite curious to hear what this was about in the event that it wasn't simply a formal introduction opportunity.

Tick, tock, tick, tock, tick, tock. While Dimitri had enjoyed his holiday, there was nothing more pleasing to his ears than the consistent chime of the clocks in the time chamber. Prior to the meeting, the time manipulation specialist had wasted no time getting back into the swing of things. In fact, he had been tinkering with one of the Time-Turners when the watch on his wrist surprisingly shouted at him, reminding him that he had a meeting to attend in the conference room.

He had made a quiet entrance, simply looking around and giving those that looked over to him a simple nod of his head. The first person that caught his attention was Blaire, his fellow specialist. Then there was Val, whom Dimitri decided to sit by, and a new person. "Morning."

A small smile then appeared on his face at the sight of Addison and her bigger-than-normal stomach. He wasn't one to pry into other people's business, though he noticed, based on experience when his ex-wife was pregnant with Dustin nine years ago, that there would be a newborn in a few month's time. His gaze then shifted to the other blonde in the room: the new Minister. Dimitri gave her a polite nod of his head and left it at that.

To preoccupy himself until he meeting started, he reached forward for a doughnut and a cup of coffee.

Addison couldn't at all say that she was surprised when the first arrival had been the new Minister. The women was very punctual from what she could tell and she knew that she also had plans to meet with the other departments as well. "Hello, Althea. I'm doing well thank you. How is being Minister treating you?" she asked a warm smile gracing her face. First names weren't at all a bother to her as she had instructed all her department to call her by hers. "Everyone will be arriving at any moment they are a very punctual group." Now don't let her down by being late anyone. "Please feel free to have some coffee or anything you like while you're with us." That's why the food and drink were there.

As luck had it Addison knew her department and sure enough one by one they began to file in. Delphina was the first to arrive. Her flustered appearance brought an instant smile to the pregnant women's face. "Hello Delphina, get yourself something to eat and drink if you like and pick a seat. We'll be starting the meeting very shortly." Seeing as how this one was new to the department Addi felt the small need to let her know that she was welcome to eat and drink while at their meetings/gatherings. Everything was usually kept very informal just so the point of the meeting had gotten across.

Picking up her bottle of orange juice she took a small sip setting it down just as Val and Blaire entered the room. "Good morning to you both. How are things going today?" By this she meant with their areas in the department but it could have meant just in general as well. However they wanted to take the question was fine by her. It was good to see that they need not be told to eat and relax either since they had done this before. It made things flow along much more smoothly.

"Morning Dimitri," she greeted warmly as the man entered and sat himself down quietly. He wasn't much of a talker she knew but he was a good worker and that was fine by her.

Once they had all gotten themselves comfortable the blonde turned to address them all. "I'm sure you all know Althea Scabior our Minister by now. She was nice enough to fit our department into her schedule this morning since she was stopping by and she would like to go over a few things. Althea you're welcome to start whenever you're ready." The room was now all hers.

Oliver didn't think he was late - well, he knew he was running late, but he didn't think he had gotten there after the meeting actually started. But he could hear Addison's voice from the corridor and he did his best to slip in quietly and unnoticed.

And there was already a full house in the conference room. Oh Merlin, was that the Minister too? Of course she would be there on the day that he was not exactly on time. Still, trying for casual, Oliver simply nodded in greeting to anyone that might have looked his way, not saying anything just yet so as to not draw attention to him or his slight tardiness. But it wouldn't be too conspicuous for him to grab something to eat, since he was already on that side of the room anyway.

Adam was late. Late and smoking a bit around the edges. His black hair was standing up at odd angles and sporting some mysterious gray and pink streaks. He had done his best to smush his hair back into place and to clean up his shirt, but he hadn’t been able to do much besides change into his spare labcoat (which still had a green strain on the right). It hadn’t been the brightest idea to start that potion last night, but Adam wasn’t the most brilliant at making decisions when he was excited and well, he had been waiting a long time for his brand new Lovage plant to bloom so he could use the petals in his experiment. Sadly, he had miscalculated something and the potion had gone poof-boom-bam!, instead of sissle-hissle-piff.

Despite his attempts at cleaning up his appearance, he hadn’t realized in his haste to clean up the lab that the potion explosion had singed off a good portion of his left eyebrow. Worse though, was that he was now too late to fix himself a plate of something to nibble on.

Adam took a deep breath, cracked opened the door and slipped into the room hoping he hadn’t missed anything too important. He grabbed the first chair that was vacant and happened to be to the right of Blaire. He sat down, making an odd hissing noise and smelling vaguely of chocolate-pineapple and campfire. “Vhat,” he whispered to Blaire. “Did I mist?”

"Minister. Lets keep our job titles gender-neutral shall we?" Althea said, not unkindly but certainly with the kind of conviction that suggested she found gender-specific job titles to be inappropriate, particularly in a professional setting.

Ah it was Blaire. Althea smiled at the younger woman. One of those who had been part of her campaign, as it were. Mysteries was lucky to have her.

"Its treating me... busily. Thank you." Althea nodded her thanks at the offer of coffee, but she'd not be partaking. She was on too much of a schedule at the moment and wanted to keep her time here brief so they could go on with their work.

Althea acknowledged the other employees who addressed her, with a smile or a nod, then waited as the department head introduced her. Good, she'd get right into it.

"I'm pleased to have this chance to speak briefly to you all. In the coming months there will be many changes beginning in the Ministry, as well as in the wider Wizarding community. Most of the measures we are implementing in the initial stages of my time as Minister aren't specifically related to work here in your department, but I still encourage all of you to keep up to date with the memos which will be sent out across the Ministry, and invite you to come along to open meetings and conferences as your input will be welcomed as citizens of Wizarding Britain." She hoped very much that they would be interested in what was going on.

"In the same vein I wish to inform you all that you may make appointments to speak with me, or you may write to me, if you have any issues that are outside of your specific work here on level nine. Anything that is Mysteries-related should, of course, be dealt with by your department head," Althea nodded once at the woman and continued, "but I am available to those who use the right channels. Please keep abreast of developments and take note of the memos that will be sent out. Does anyone have anything they would like to say?" Because if not she'd leave them to it.

Busily. That was certainly a very pleasant way of describing things. Addison smiled softly at that response nodding her head slightly when the offer of coffee was declined. Of course the Minister was on a very tight schedule but it was only right to offer the same things to her as to the rest of her department.

Sitting back in her nice comfortable chair the blonde kept quiet. Picking up her bagel with the smear of cream cheese she had spread on it she ate quickly, every once and awhile sipping at her orange juice. Her eyes traveled over each of those on her team making sure they were following what was being said by their minister. Each was. She knew they wouldn't let her down even if both Oliver and Adam had only just arrived. The two men received a warm smile from her Adam also getting a curious look as if asking if 'he was alright'. Clearly the man had partaken in some form of explosion or something!

Questions though. Did she have any. No, no she didn't. Did anyone else? Addison looked at each of them waiting for someone to speak up. "I do not have any questions at this time. Before our lovely Minister needs to move on does anyone have anything to say?" She turned her eyes back onto everyone else in the room.

Apparently Adam hadn’t missed much because just as he asked Blaire to catch him up, the Minister began talking. Adam returned Addison’s smile with a toothy one of his own, letting her know he was alright. Leaning back in his chair, he let out another puff of smoke (which this time smelled like Pineapple and chicken and make Adam terribly hungry) and listened.

Once the Minster was done speaking, she opened the floor for questions. He himself didn’t have any, her speech had been pretty self-explanatory. He swiveled in his chair looking around the room (and eying up what was left of the food that he could snag before heading back to the mess in the Ever Locked Room). Nobody seemed to have much to say it seemed.

Lovely Minister? Althea wasn't particularly a fan of being called such, given it was generally a feminized descriptor, potentially sexist in a professional context, and had no place in a political arena unless you were intentionally trying to point out certain attributes that had nothing at all to do with her capabilities or suitability for the role.

And there was the small fact that she wasn't actually lovely. It wasn't so long ago that she had people calling her dragon lady or ice queen or other such equally as sexist but far less complimentary terms.

She made a mental note to remind all the department heads of this, but for now she simply nodded, took note that there were no follow up questions, and then spoke again.

"Thank you all for your time. Please keep an eye out for memos from my office." And that would be all. The tall blonde Minister left the room, she had her schedule to think of after all.

Addison had thought she had given her staff time to ask any questions they had directed at their new minister. It seemed not even one of them wanted to know anything. Not that she blamed any of them for she hadn't had any questions either. All that had been said was very much laid out for them and straight forward.

The toothy grin from Adam in return to her own smile she had given him was enough for her. Besides the fact that he was letting off small puffs of smoke with his movements the man didn't appear to be in any harm at all. Slightly inclining her head in the form of a small nod her blue-gray eyes turned back onto the minister once again.

Had she taken much notice to anything she might have said wrong, no she hadn't. Her words hadn't been meant as anything more then that the minister had done them a nice gesture by stopping by and speaking with them. As she was finished and taking her departure the blonde smiled warmly. "I will most certainly be doing just that and thank you again for stopping in to speak with us. Have a good rest of your day."

Turning her attention back onto her staff Addi gave them all another warm smile. "If you haven't gotten the chance to grab yourself a bit to eat go on and do so now." Yes she had taken notice to who had been eating. "Before we continue does anyone have an questions, concerns or just anything they'd like to talk about?" If so now was the time to do so.

The minister appeared to be done speaking and Addison had made a follow speech/comment that seemed to reinforce the appearance of the mister being done with them. He spun his chair back and forth and back again, looking at his coworkers and waiting for the Minister to leave before he took Addison up on the ‘getting food’ offer. Something smelled like Hawaiian chicken and it was making his mouth water; he had no idea that he was what smelled like a Hawaiian BBQ.

Spin. Pause. Spin….

Awww fuewy….

The minister didn’t appear to be in any hurry to leave. Maybe she was going to stay and observe the rest of their meeting. His tummy growled like a hungry elephant. Not one to pass up free food, Adam pushed his chair back, trying not to make too much noise or to draw attention to himself. Little puffs of chicken and curry smelling smoke poofed behind him as he stepped around the table and snagged a bagel and muffin. He really wanted a tea, but settled for a bottle of water before hurrying back to his chair.

Sam rather liked being in the presence of power, as she hoped someday to be the one in these higher positions. Not yet, of course, as she was quite fond of her role here right now. Sam listened and observed, but found that she did not have anything productive to say at this point. It was tragic for her really... no one would remember the silent girl by the wall.

That was...ambiguous.


Minister Scabior wasn't very specific, and Jasper thought she must've had her reasons. Strange though. They hadn't had much in the way of information leaks in recent history and yet information was certainly withheld. Scabior didn't seem the type to go forth without a plan. She knew. Certainly she knew. And probably so too did Addison or wouldn't she too have had questions for the Minister?

And she didn't ask for questions, Scabior didn't. She asked for comments. Input. Interesting. He would be attending these other conferences his schedule permitting. And if that was her goal, it worked.

The air carried the smell of some kinda braii happening. He looked over at Gerulf, then leaned in to sniff him. "Yeah, I've got one.", said the salt 'n pepper wizard sitting besides the potioneer. "Why does Adam smell like Bar-B-cue?". Despite his age, Jasper was probably the most child-like one of the Unspeakables. "You smell wonderful, mate." He assured his colleague.

Addison Anders was normally a very informal women unless the correct occasion called for her to be a certain way. When it came down to interacting with her team in the department she kept things on a first name basis and as relaxed and friendly as possible. So despite the fact that there was a table along the wall at the back of the room holding freshly made coffee, juices and a small variety of muffins and fruit, her team would know something was up when coming into the conference room.

This wasn't where they normally held their meetings especially after just returning from the break but here she was. The blonde was already sat at the circular table, a muffin and half of a banana sat on the table before her along with a cup of coffee. There was a few things that needed to be spoken about this morning so she hoped no one arrived late and she wanted to start right away. If she was here on time, clean and ready for the day not looking like she had just been carrying around two little ones all morning than she expected the same from all of them.

No one would disappointment this happy still smiling women, would they?

Slade walked into the conference room in a clean suit with a very bright blue silk tie. The tie was enchanted of course, and for some reason bright blue silk held the enchantment the best. It was not his favorite color: that he left to his father. But that's how it was. He was not sure how the department worked quite yet, so whether this meeting was unusual or not was lost on him. He made his way to the table with food and drink, and picked out an orange juice and a muffin then sat at the conference table. He'd had breakfast already, but it seemed impolite not to have at least something.

Val entered in the conference room, well-groomed and properly dressed as usual. Following his morning duties he made his way over, skipping the light meals for some coffee before taking a seat. "Morning," His hazels eyes met Addison's first before they glanced over to the newer guy and his choice of attire. Huh. He had no words for it, instead choosing to wait and see who else was coming in.

Breaking off a piece of her blueberry muffin and popping it into her mouth, Addison washed it down with a sip of coffee. Just in time to as right than one of the new men in the department arrived. "Good morning, I'm Addison Anders," she introduced herself once again as they should all know who the head of the department is from being hired but sometimes memories slipped and that was okay. Addi did take quick note of how dressed up Slade was and was sure in this department he would most likely choose to dress down a tad bit. One never knew what they would be getting into around here.

Ah, here was a face she knew. "Morning, Val" she greeted in return with a light smile After he was seated she took another sip of her coffee directing her blue eyes at the door. "I'll get this conference underway in just a few moments. I'd like to give the rest of our team a little longer to arrive." They all still had a few minutes before she would be considering them late.

As introverted as she was, Sam had grown fond of these get togethers. Dressed in a half sleeve shirt and pencil skirt, she entered the conference room and observed the scene. Only a few were here early it seemed, and the most familiar face was Addison's of course. She smiled and nodded at the others in the room. "Good morning," she greeted them.

She turned to her Department Head, "Good morning!"

The next step of course, was getting a snack. Sam felt that it was best to get snacks and coffee before the meeting started... Did she mention coffee? She grabbed a plate and put some of the fruit and a muffin on it. She grabbed a cup of coffee and headed to a seat facing Addison. She really didn't feel like twisting her neck for who knew how long.

She organized her breakfast plate and her notepad, and smiled again at those at the table. She normally worked alone, so her game was guessing if she had worked with either of these gentlemen before or not... She was so bad with faces sometimes...

Brighton had dressed rather simply in a dove grey, long sleeved button up shirt and black trousers; thankfully, it appeared that most had followed a similar dress code. He appropriately gave a 'Good morning' that was directed to everyone in the room, though of all the faces only one was familiar. Addison Anders, of course, and for interview and general hiring process; expected, really, considering she was the department head. He gave her a nod, anyway, out of familiarity alone.

He'd had breakfast, already and a good one, too. But the idea of sitting down without nothing to do while they waited for the rest of the department wasn't particularly appealing. Brighton poured himself some coffee despite not being particularly fond of the taste, and after a moment's worth of hesitation, chose a blueberry muffin before heading for the table and claiming a seat.

CYPRESS WAS HERE.

The usually late young male was on time, and it had nothing to do with him, like, changing his habits or anything. He had set his alarm for the wrong time.

So he found himself with all sorts of free time this morning, and he wasn't a fan. There was nothing like the thrill and adrenaline of running thirty minutes late to work and having to think ON THE SPOT about what excuse you were going to use.

Unfortunately, he sauntered into the meeting on time with a cup of lukewarm coffee in hand. He sipped it and nodded at everyone. There were some new faces. Cool, mate. Cool. "Sup," he said to Addison. Suave, right? He shuffled around, fidgeted with the beanie atop his head, and wished he were home with Lily, his best friend teacup Yorkie. Why couldn't they bring pets to work? Like, could he sneak her in one day? She was tiny and adorable. Everyone would love her as much as HE loved her if they jusT GAVE HER A CHANCE.
