Attention all Current Ministry of Magic Employees!

The Ministry of Magic RPG has recently gone through a substantial amount of renovations in order to make the roleplaying game better and more exciting than ever! We are pleased and excited to announce that the next step in implementing those changes is ready to be launched! Sorting (called Placement in the MoM RPG) is now open for all current MoM employees! Oh my gosh YAY finally right? RIGHT? And that's not all - we come bearing GIFTS (sort of - play along, okay?)

First, the Ministry is switching usergroups. What in the world is a usergroup? A usergroup is what adminny-type people use to say "this group can post here" or "this group can no view here" (that is exactly how we talk, too). With the usergroup change, comes SHINY new usertitles. Behold:





Snazzy. You all get one of those. But you have to take the Placement for that to happen. Easy enough.

As part of the renovations, the placement quiz and the method in which we sort has been completely changed. We now have a system in place that let's us use your character's background, qualities, and skills to place them in a very specific job suited just for YOUR character! What this amounts to is that each of you will be assigned your own special and unique job within the Ministry of Magic! SO, all current MoM employees will need to re-submit a placement quiz, so that your character can be placed in his or her new position!

Recap: You get to take a fun new quiz (admit it, they're fun), you get a shiny new usertitle, AND your character gets to be all special with a one-of-kind job.

NOTE: This call to take the Placement quiz is ONLY for CURRENT Ministry employees. This means to take the Placement quiz, you must have been previously sorted into the Ministry and be apart of the Ministry employee usergroup. Current employees will have 2 weeks to take the Placement quiz. Any current employee that misses this cutoff will have to wait until the next Placement and no longer be able to post in the MoM. So don't delay! Current employees will be sorted out first, then the MoM Placement will be held for all NEW members/employees at a later time.

The placement quiz can be found here and will be open for the next two weeks! Please read the new and revised MoM RPG Rules/FAQ before completing the new quiz. Lots of things have changed and/or been revised! Please remember that we are implementing a brand new placement system for the very first time, and this system isn't just a simple 'scanning of the application'. We'll go through each application and consider everything about your character before officially placing him or her into a position. It's possible that it may take more than the normal amount of time to process applications and contact you with your new position. Please be patient and know that you'll get your results as quickly as possible!

Outside of the Placement Quiz, you'll also notice that we've completely redone Ministry Mingling, the forum where you can come and discuss the Ministry of Magic from an OOC perspective! The new and revised MoM Rules/FAQ can be found here, as well as Ministry of Magic Announcements, MoM Character Biography, Minstry of Magic Chat, MoM Ideas and Suggestions, What in Merlin's PANTS?!, and Ministry of Magic Questions. We encourage you to use this forum to connect with other members, keep up to date with Ministry happenings, and share your ideas and suggestions.

We interrupt this regularly-scheduled Site Notice to inform you that the VERY BUSY and VERY IMPORTANT Lord Berty Borr has declared TODAY a holiday for all Ministry of Magic employees. In celebration of his new role as Junior Undersecretary to the Minister of Magic, a party in his honor will be held today in the middle of Diagon Alley. All Ministry of Magic employees are welcome and encouraged to come to the party immediately after taking the new Placement Quiz!

WE REPEAT! This has been an interruption of a regularly-scheduled site notice to inform you that the Ministry of Magic is now CLOSED due to National Lord Berty Borr Day! Please report to the party right after completing your Placement Quiz!

OOC: The Ministry of Magic RPG is actually closed (so you won't be able to access any of the forums at the moment). OOC, the party will be open for longer than just a day, so feel free to join in at any moment! Just remember to take your Placement Quiz first!

For the next week (beginning now and ending next Monday, April 4), Ministry of Magic placement is now open for all those who missed placement the first go round or are brand new to the Ministry of Magic RPG!

Please do not take the quiz if you were placed into a department during our last placement!

The plan of action is to leave this round of sorting open for one week, and then we'll open the Ministry of Magic RPG! In the future, all Ministry of Magic placements are planned for the month after the School RPG sorting.

Jobs are available in the following eight departments:

• Law Enforcement (+ Security and Wizengamot)
• Accidents and Catastrophes
• Environmental Regulation and Protection
• Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures

* Magical Maintenance isn't a department by itself, but is rather a part of the Minister of Magic's Office.

Please decide for sure which character you'll be playing before taking the quiz. Placement is based on characters, therefore the MoM is hiring your character, not the OOC you. We ask that you only take the quiz once per placement opening, so please be sure of who you're playing before you complete/submit the quiz.

The new and remodeled Ministry of Magic is pleased to announce our first winner of the Ministry-wide "Employee of the Month!" Congratulations to Lizzie Hathaway, played by the lovely mialovesyoulots. Our Minister of Magic will be naming a new EoTM each month! He's currently on the lookout for all you hardworking, punctual employees from all levels!

Ball invitation compliments of momentai

With the help of employees Ministry-wide, the Cult of Walpurgis has fallen, and the Ministry of Magic is under an entirely new leadership! To celebrate, the officials at the Ministry of Magic are hosting a Celebration Ball! All Ministry of Magic employees received an official invitation, so if you've been placed into the Ministry of Magic and have a character there, your character is free to attend!

The forum for the ball can be found here (IC it's in the Atrium of the Ministry of Magic (level 8) in a very large room that's been converted into a ballroom.); but you'll likely want to start in our welcome thread, just so you have all the additional details you and your character will need to know. Because this is a Ministry of Magic ball, and it's purpose is to celebrate the recent victory over the Cult of Walpurgis and to officially introduce the new Ministry of Magic leadership team, one of the characters you play must be your current Ministry of Magic character. After that, and if you've already been placed into the Ministry of Magic and have permissions to post there, you may play one extra character. This can be a member of your Ministry character's family, an invited friend, and or any other character you think may have received an invitation to the ball. Please remember, however, that this is a governmental ball. Not just everybody would have received an invitation to come. Think of it this way: if the leader of your country held a ball, which sorts of people might be invited? It wouldn't be just free for everyone out there, but more exclusive to people like employees, their families, their friends, or other invited guests. If you're unsure as to whether you can play a certain character, feel free to PM myself, Anna Banana, or another member of the Ministry Department Head team.

As placement is scheduled to end tomorrow, I also plan to close the Celebration Ball within that time period, too. This is just a heads up that the ball will officially close this Wednesday evening sometime when I get in from work.

So if there's anything else you wanted to RP at the ball or have your character do there, now is the time to do it!

Edit: This date is open to a possible change, so as to allow new employees the chance to RP more. Also, the Awards Table *is* open for you come and RP your character getting their award! So please do go and ahead and make use of that, so your character can be rewarded properly!

The placement questionnaire can be found here and will be open until Monday, October 15th. It would be a great idea to read the MoM RPG Rules/FAQ before completing your application (it's not that long!). We've added a guide to help you complete the quiz, as well as an example of a correctly filled out quiz.

NEW FEATURE!!! Well, fairly new. To see which positions are currently available in the MoM, visit our Job Postings Thread. Of course, this doesn't necessarily mean these are the ONLY positions we have available for you. We've been known to create jobs before based on awesome applications we've received.

Once you've filled out your application, you can visit Ministry Mingling for more information. Placement is a lengthy process for the MoM Staff, so please do put on your patient pants after submitting your application. Your application will literally go through the "hands" of SEVERAL Ministry staffers for consideration and this type of process takes time. It may be UP TO 2 weeks before you hear back from us. We're a thorough lot when finding the right job for you.


Who can take the Ministry Placement Questionnaire?

• Members! All members can apply. You need only to get your ten legitimate posts first. No RPG experience required.
  
• If you are not currently a member of the Ministry of Magic and would like to be - YOU may apply now!
  
• If you ARE currently a Ministry employee, but wish to change characters - simply retake the questionnaire using your new character.
  
• If you wish to have your current character considered for another job, a promotion, or another department - you may also take the quiz! Just use question 3 for letting us know what your wishes are. We cannot and will not make guarantees, of course, but we will review your character and their job and see what we can offer. Note that promotions will typically come In-Character from your Department Head with character longevity and reliability.

Questionnaire:

• Use this Guide to help you answer questions!
  
• An example of a correctly filled out quiz can be found here. Again, it's just an example. You're free to use it as a guide when filling out your quiz.
  
• All parts of the questionnaire should be filled out in-character (as your character, not as you). There is only ONE question that should be filled out from an OOC perspective, and that's the last question on the quiz.
  
• Question 14 asks for a letter of reference. Feel free to ask someone on the site to create one for you (only if their character knows your character) or you can create one of your own. Most members create their own.
  
• The more information that you supply on the application, the better we are able to place your character. Take your time and fill it out thoroughly! The longer the application, the better.
  
• Please fill out the entire application! Don't skip questions! If you must skip a question, then tell us why in the Additional Comments.
  
• Please note that questions seventeen and eighteen DO ask you about your placement preferences, but they are NO GUARANTEE you'll be placed or not placed in a particular department. These are just used as guidance when finding the right department for you.

After Placement:

The only way to change your MoM character is to retake the placement questionnaire when placement time rolls around. So before you fill out your application, you need to think carefully about the character you'd like to play, because you won't be able to change again until another placement opens. The Ministry Placement fits very specific jobs (that are assigned by the MoM staff individually with much care and thought) to your specific character. So, you can't just up and change characters and keep the same job.

Ho, ho, ho, MERRY CHRISTMAS!

...and no, we haven't gotten our months all mixed up. It's Christmas time here in the SS RPGs! October 1, 2012 begins the month of December in our RPGs, and so we've decided to try something a little different this go round.

We're giving YOU, our current MoM employees, a little IC holiday break. During the time placement is open, we'll celebrate Christmas in the RPGs. Because of this, the MoM RPG will be CLOSED from now until Monday, October 15. This means that you won't be able to access any of the forums during that time period. We'll post more information closer to the time of our re-opening.

In the meantime, why don't you pay TerrorTours a little visit and send you and yours on a much-needed holiday vacation!

Have a safe and happy holiday season, and we at the Ministry of Magic will see you in January!

After a much-needed holiday break, the Ministry of Magic is re-opening its doors to all employees, new and returning! However, this time we're doing something a bit different. We're not opening the entire MoM all at once. Instead, we're going to open with an Employee Orientation for all new and returning employees!

The Orientation will feature fun and exciting IC events, such as:

- Swag Bag FREEBIES!
- A raffle for IC prizes
- A 'getting to know you' game, in which you have to RP to figure out things like--Who can speak fluent troll around here?
- Food, of course!
- Guided Tours (you can give a tour or get a tour)
- ...and much, much more!

In character, the Orientation takes place in a large room inside the Atrium on level eight. It'll stay open from about 8:00 A.M. - 5:00 P.M. Again, this is in-character time.

Out-of-character, you can reach the Orientation by clicking here. We'll have the Orientation open for about five days OOC time, and then we'll open the Ministry as a whole.

If you applied for a position this placement period and have yet to receive notification of which department your character was placed in, please PM Anna Banana.

It's come to my attention here recently that some of you are having an issue with your posts at the Employee Orientation coming up as moderated posts that need approval rather than already-approved posts. We're looking into this and will hopefully come up with a solution soon!

In the meantime, I apologize for the inconvenience and that fact this is affecting some of you RPing at the Orientation.

MINISTRY PLACEMENT IS OPEN. HAPPY PLACEMENT, EMPLOYEES

As some of you might have noticed, Tegz is no longer our Minister for Magic. The OOC year term that was installed when elections came about for the person elected as Minister has run out, and it is time for a new minister.

During this time, we should have ran an election and elected a NEW person to be the minister for this OOC year. However, I have just taken over at admin, and by the time I did so, we should have already been planning an election if we wanted to have time to do it right. We did not have that time, and there are other aspects about the RP in the Ministry that I would like to focus one, one being getting some of our levels up to par and as active as they can be, another is regulating the ministry to be as regular as the school with open and close dates, and thirdly, getting more activities within the ministry to provide places for you all, the members, to play in and be involved in.

With all the OOC work, behind the scenes and in view, I did not desire to devote mine or my DHs time with an election. With that being said, I am not getting rid of the elections. As soon as three months from now we could have another election, or even for the next placement. But fret not, because they have not gone anywhere!

This OOC announcement is to inform you all, the members, about what is going on and why it is going on. I know a lot of you look forward to the elections, and it is not my intention to get rid of them. I just need to gain my footing, and help some of my staff gain theirs, before I feel right in taking on such a big plot event. So, for the time being, we will have a red account minister. Stay tuned, for he will be making an appearance soon.
