The Kappa Coffee is a petite cafe in Greenwich, London, known for their splendid sparkling drinks and their tasty fresh sandwiches. It is quite a popular place for the budding writer to hang out and pass around ideas, and also someplace to read a few of your writings out to everyone. The most common theme is that of poetry. Some people go just for the entertainment of it all.
The cafe is just around a corner, out of the way of all the hustle and bustle of the city. On the outside, it looks like a run down book shop, closed because it was put out of business, but on the inside, it's a music filled, happy chattering, all around fun atmosphere. The lights are quite low, yet the twinkling lights that fill the air give off enough light to see your company as well as what your eating or drinking if you so choose to do so. The main light however, is focused over to the far corner of the cafe, where a three person band is quietly playing some background music as someone melodramatically presents their creative writings.
To the side there is a long bar in which one can order whatever drinks and sandwiches are on the menu, while low, finally polished mahogany wooden tables scatter the cafe, far enough apart to give each visitor their privacy if one doesn't want to sit in a row. Pictures of famous witches and wizards, as well as talented captures of rare creatures, scatter the walls in a modern formation, ultimately giving the place a rustic with a touch of new mood. Feel free to just sit back and chat, eat some of the delicious food, listen to some poetry writings, and even go up and present something yourself.

Back in his apartment not far from the Ministry, Corin was rifling through his backed up mail when he spotted something that didn’t look like his usual stack of bills or letters from his nephew or mother. Ripping it open he read its contents quickly.... then read it again… and again…
He has a date. What date????
His eyes shifted towards the indicated day and time…. then scrambled for the shower.
Thirty minutes later the salt-and-pepper haired man was peering through the windows of this small café that he actually missed on the first pass. As he pushed the door open he was greeted with soothing music coming from the band jamming together on the small stage at the far end of the cafe, the aroma of coffee wafting through the air inviting him in. He slipped into café and made his way towards a vacant table by the windows. As he shrugged his coat off, his eyes shifted at the ladies already seated. Was one of them his date? They all seemed to be with friends, which had him thinking that perhaps she wasn’t there yet. Unless his date brought her entourage with her and was one of those now seated, whispering and giggling away at whatever struck their fancy. He really hoped that wasn’t the case.
Groupies. He doesn’t like them.
He set the simple flower bouquet on the table and settled into his seat, idly reading the mini-menu propped up at the center of the table.

Merlin. It was weird being back in London. When she'd moved to America, Alena never dreamed she would miss the sometimes dreary country.
She walked quickly through the streets, already on her second round of the same route in search of the little cafe she was meeting her date at. Lena was a little surprised to have it been scheduled for a poetry reading cafe. She wasn't much a fan of poetry, though sometimes some pretty powerful pieces came from the deepest heart of people. But usually it seemed so full of pain, it was almost sad to see sometimes.
Believing she spotted the place, Alena quickened her steps and allowed herself in, smoothing her dress down once out of habit and glancing around the room.
Spotting a man sitting by himself at one of the tables, Alena glanced around once more before making her way towards him. She was assuming this was her date for the evening, and she hoped beyond hope she wasn't incorrect. "Uhm, hello sir."
Merlin. She couldn't remember the name of the man her letter had said.

Maybe he should've been reviewing that letter and see if he missed any pertinent details on it. Like the name of his date. But by the time he realized that there was a woman who has walked up to his table and greeted him. Was it her? Well there was just one woman that was talking to him. Lets hope it was his date because it would've been really awkward if he was entertaining her and the real one walks in.
Not that that hasnt happened to him before but anyway...
He stood up and, not being sure of what his date's name was, uttered his instead "Hello, Corin Vanderbilt." he started as he offered a friendly handshake.

Merlin. She was embarrassed to have not remembered his name from the information given to her in the letter. Alena was fairly positive his was listed in the contents, but it was too late now. She'd already put herself out there by greeting the lone wolf in the cafe, there was no turning back.
Taking his pre-offered hand, Alena gave it a friendly shake accompanied with a smile. "Alena Parkingston. It's a pleasure to meet you." That...name sounded familiar at least. "You're here for a blind date, right?" She flushed slightly, but kept a small smile on her face regardless.

Bam. Parkingston. Now he remembers, if only it sounded medical. Which he remembers more with ease than anything else.
He returned her handshake as he replied " A pleasure to meet you too Alena. Yes, yes I'm here for the blind date" That I have no recollection ever signing up for. He would have to stop by the Minister's office and hunt talk to his cousin. Only the young chap would find this hilarious.
He offered her the bouquet of pink tulips that he brought along. "These are for you." Oh wait is she allergic to flowers? He bought it from a witch with all those funky herbs and amulets that was supposed to make you live forever. He could only hope the tulips were anti-allergenic at the very least right?
He shifted a bit to pull the chair for her and waited for Alena to get settle in.

Oh. Good, he WAS here for the blind date. She would have felt quite silly if she'd asked the wrong guy. The matchmaking service really should have mailed pictures out for the matchee's as well as the name. That would definitely be helpful! Faces were much easier to remember. "I'm relieved. I thought perhaps I'd approached the wrong person." Lena chuckled slightly, and offered a small smile in addition.
Blinking slightly at the offered flowers, Alena's smile brightened as she accepted them. "Thank you, they are lovely. Tulips are my favorites." She liked most flowers of course, but the tulips did tend have her favoritism. It was just quite a relief he hadn't brought her daises, that would have kept her sneezing for most of the evening. Merlin. That would be a bit embarrassing as well.
Oh, he was pulling the chair out for her? She could definitely say she'd been matched with quite the gentleman to share the evening with. Settling herself in, Alena offered another, slightly more quiet, "Thank you" before glancing around their surroundings to take it in for but a moment. "This place really is charming. Are you a poetry fan?"

He could feel a slight ease on his shoulders when his date didn’t end up sneezing as he handed her the bouquet. And it happened to be a favorite of hers. Good tidings twice over? He sure hope his luck can last the rest of the evening.
Corin eased the seat in as Alena settled down, then returned to his side of the table. And then she asked he was a poetry fan. Uh oh. Should he come up with a beautiful lie and hopefully not spoil his date’s evening (given that, in his head, all ladies have a love of poetry) or just reveal the unromantic truth that in his line of work, poetry wasn’t really part of the morning briefing?
He smiled slowly, of the split second it took for him to ponder his predicament “I rather liked Walt Whitman’s work.” Yeah ONE specifically, which he had managed to dredge up from his foggy memories of his days in Muggle Studies. “Do you read a lot of poetry?” He’s a dead man if she says yes.
Why couldn’t that blasted dating service set them up in a Muggle movie theater huh?

Lena tucked her legs in underneath her chair, getting a little more comfortable as he settled himself down into his own seat. She couldn't help herself from briefly taking another scan of the inside of the building. It was a quaint little place, perhaps a bit dark, but a nice setting nonetheless. It did seem a bit odd of a location for a date, but perhaps that was just because she wasn't big on poetry.
Perhaps others saw the lack of lights as somewhat of a romantic scene, while Alena merely found herself feeling a little bit uncomfortable.
Walt Whitman? Oh merlin. He was enough of a fan to have a poet he was partial to. She was so out of all things poetry, Alena couldn't even recognize the name. Biting on the inside of her lip, she hesitantly found herself giving an awkward little giggle. "I'm afraid I'm so out of poetry, I don't even recognize the name of your poet. The most I know is Robert Frost's 'Two roads diverged in a yellow wood.'"
And that was also the only amount of the poem she knew.
