Fishing Date: Armen Recard and Roxanne Carter

:music: Sitting on the dock of the Tay...:music:

Before you winds the chilly waters of the River Tay of Scotland. The dock is old, wooden, and rickety, but nothing to worry about! Fisherman and anglers are minding their own, making for cheery background noise as their day of fishing comes to a close. They'll be returning to their nearby fishing town, giving you and your date the privacy and rule of the river. The air is slightly fishy, but nothing overwhelming. You'll get used to it. An occasional fish jumps out of the water, perhaps celebrating another day it wasn't snatched from its home.

Two lounge chairs and a picnic basket await for a light dinner, but in the meantime, why not see if the fish are biting? Two rods and reels are set up on the dock. Beside those, you'll find a tackle box full of complicated muggle fishing tackle. Careful with those! Hook one to your line...

...or use a line to hook your date ;).

In the event you or your date cannot swim, please use the provided life jackets. Or, just try not to fall in. Have fun and happy fishing!

*dives right in- figuratively at least!*

Roxanne squatted where the dock meet the lake bank, waiting for her date. As she she waited, she was checking over the fishing equipment, making sure the fishing lines were untangled and such. It seemed that everything was in order, unfortunately for her because she needed to keep her mind off the (ironic?) situation. Just a few weeks ago, she'd been bad mouthing the man, now they had been set up on a date? Yep, that settled it. Besides being ironic, fate had an evil sense of humor.

Roxanne exhaled as she made up her mind. She was going to enjoy herself. Even if it was with Armen Recard…

Hehheh…

LOL! Oh this will be good....

Fishing? O_______o

Armen was completely lost as to why they were going fishing on his date. Had he skipped over the question that said 'If you don't answer this one, we assume you love to Fish.'? After deciding after much deliberation not to just completely skip out and not show up, Armen had Apparated to the specificed location and walked out onto the dock to meet his date.

The man stopped by the place the woman was sitting and reached out to shake her hand and introduce himself. "Hello there, are you Roxanne?" he said hoping he had picked the right person and it wasn't just some Muggle lady or some fisherman's wife.

Hopefully she knew how to fish because the Ministry Gopher hadn't the slightest clue how.

Roxanne looked up from her checking of the fishing line when she heard her date speak up. Or at least, she assumed it was him. It'd be incredibly awkward if it was just some random person. "Yes, and you must be Armen." She shook the hand he was holding out, then silently offered him one of the fishing poles. Line already in and everything. "Do you know how to fish?" 'Cause she knew the basics…

She was pretty, that was for sure. Armen just hoped she didn't have a boring personality. He himself was a wonderfully charming man and he needed someone that would at least be able to keep up with him when they were with company and to just make things interesting.

Shaking the woman's hand he too nodded, showing that he was, indeed, Armen. "That's me." he said with a nod and a small smile. She hadn't done anything to make him hate her so far.

"Do I know how to fish? No." he said shortly as he took the pole from Roxanne and held it away from his body, eyeing her, as if waiting for her to start. Armen wanted to speak with the Matching Making Services location scout as soon as this thing was over.

Well that was interesting. A man who didn't know how to fish. Roxanne bent over and opened the provided tackle box, and pulled out a bright orange lure. "Pick out a lure and tie it to the end of the fishing line." Teach a man to fish and he'll fish for a lifetime and all that. And she was ignoring the shortness in his voice. For now. "You do at least know where the end of the line is, right?" She cracked a smile to relieve some of the tension she was feeling. It had worked for her in the past…

Was she making fun of him?

Armen quickly bent forward and rummaged throught the Tackle box before finding a lure that was a bright yellow worm shaped thing and he quickly tied it around the end of the line. He then kicked off his shoes and pulled off his socks. After laying them in the center of the small dock, he sat on the edge of the wooden planks and plopped his feet into the water.

"I can, can you?" he said cheekily, cracking a grin aswell.

This probably wouldn't be too bad, as long as he didn't catch any fish and have to un-hook them. "So Roxanne, do you work at the Ministry?" he said waiting for Miss fishing expert to join him.

Ah, so he did know a little something about fishing after all. Hmm…

Roxanne slipped out of her own socks and shoes, carefully rolled her jeans legs up so they wouldn't get wet, and parked herself on the edge of the dock, feet dangling in the water. Slightly chilly, but that was okay. "Yes, I work at the Ministry. And you…?" Said in the most friendly of manners, of course. Since he was being nice and all.

She cast her line out into the water, watching as it landed a couple of feet in front of her. At least it hadn't caught on her clothes or anything…

Armen couldn't shake off the feeling that he had seen this woman around the Ministry before he had asked if she even worked there or not. The only thing he didn't realize was where he had seen her--the MLE offices on his many Crusades for the Cult. Even worse she was one of the ones that was less than satisfied with his antics.

After she had joined him, the man waved his fishing rod around to cause some ripples in the water. That was the stuff you were supposed to do right? "Yes I work there. You would probably know me, I was formally the Department Head of Magical Transportation." he said proudly, trying and almost able to keep all the pompousness out of his tone.

"Which department do you call home?"

Okay Roxanne, be careful what you say now… He was right, though. She'd recognized the name as soon as she'd read it. "Your name rang a bell…" To say the least. "Aren't you the Ministry Gopher now, though?" No trace of unkindness. Just a simple question.

The date had the potential to turn awkward with her next words. "I work for the Department of Magical Law Enforcement. Wizengamot division." She smirked a little. Yep, here comes the awkwardness…

Oh she had heard of him...figures. Armen sat up a bit more, his face smug as his fishing rod continued to bob in the water. He knew that people had been aware of his good works as Department Head.

Then she used that word. He hated that title and anyone who knew him understood that. His lips pursed together tightly and he stiffened. "I work on level one now as a personal assistant." Why was this woman poking fun at him and calling him by his given title?

His answer was delivered to him in the next few seconds when she told him which department she worked for. "MLE?" he asked, forgetting to hide his shock. She had to be bloody joking. How in Merlin's beard had he kept getting mixed up with women from that blasted department? "How's that working out for you? Bole must be struggling to keep the place up now that he's...injured." he said fishing for some delightful news on the now hurt Evander Bole. Serves him right for standing against Ikenna Gevrik.

Roxanne watched as he seemed to stiffen at being called by his current title. Ooo… someone's touchy about their job… "Okay fine, personal assistant." She liked the term gopher better. More fitting somehow…

She let out a small laugh at his shock upon hearing her department. "Yep. Funny, isn't it?" Of course, not funny ha ha, but funny strange. "Fishing for information much?" Like she'd actually tell him, of all people, if anything was going wrong. "Actually, everything's running much smoother now." And she wasn't lying either.

And speaking of fishing… She felt a tug at the end of her line and started to reel it in.

If things could get more awkward Armen would throw himself into the lake.

After being called a gopher and then him reacting with the perfect amouth of distaste she decided to call him out on it. The nerve. He agreed she was no Emily Browne in the rude department or that rude at all but still. "I'm not fishing for information, I was just wondering." he said sort of innocently. "I haven't been down on level two in a while and I was just wondering how a former collegue was doing."

'Like if he had tripped using that cane yet.'

"It looks like you have a bite." he said pointing at her fishing pole as the bobber sunk below the surface.

Wondering, rriiight. Roxanne decided to let that slide though. After all, she hadn't been looking for awkwardness when she had signed up for this whole blind-matchmaker-date thing. Nope. "Why don't we move this conversation to a more neutral topic?" Before someone says something they'll regret. She thought for a minute before coming up with something more pleasant. "So, where did you grow up?" she asked, reeling in her line.

When she had reeled in enough that whatever it was was dangling over the water, she had to do a double take. A boot?! Who threw their boots in the water?! "Okay, I'm not touching that!" Fish she could handle, but boots?!

"A neutral topic would be wonderful." Armen said, wanting to point out that she had made the mistake of telling him where she worked--the worst department in the Ministry in his opinion. She didn't hear him bringing up the Cult, or it's business did she? Seriously, was that appropriate lake fishing conversation?

"Well I grew up in a small village in France called Gordes where my family still owns and runs a Winery. My mom and dad still live on the estate there and my younger brother Eli runs the place now. I have two younger brothers, Eli and his twin Ellis, and an older sister Aubrey. We all had lived there for a while but Aubrey and I went to Hogwarts and then stayed in London afterwards. Ellis lives here too." he nodded. He didn't get to see him that often, he was always running around at parties and crashing at his Quidditch teammates' flats.

"So where are you from?" He asked as he watched her real in the boot and then freak out because it wasn't a fish. Recard leaned towards her and grabbed the rod to steady it before pulling the boot from the hook for her and then tossing it further down the dock. That had been enteraining to watch.

Roxanne watched as he reached over and detached the boot from her pole. As this was going on, she couldn't help but notice that he wasn't really that bad looking. Maybe even… slightly attractive? Trying to clear her head of this thought, she said "Thank you," recasting her line.

"Oh, I'm from Albany, New York where my father owns a chain of retail stores that are pretty successful, over there anyway. My brother Sam and I bounced back and forth between Hogwarts and home until we graduated and went to college. I eventually settled in Washington D.C. until I landed in London a little over a year ago." She really hoped that the whole 'pretty successful' thing hadn't come off as bragging. It was more a statement about an inescapable piece of her life.

She caught on to something it seemed they both had in common. "You went to Hogwarts? Which house were you in?" Couldn't have been Slytherin, she would've seen him around. Unless he was younger than her…

"Not a problem." he said with a shrug, continuing to wiggle his line in the water, hoping to Merlin he didn't catch anything. Armen didn't feel like touching any fish right now.

So it was her turn to spill where she was from and his past to him, he waited patiently to hear. "Oh you're from the States? I've actually dealt with their Ministry a few times and have visited a few places here and there." D.C was one of them, obviously. "It's nice, more variation in weather that's for sure." he chuckled thinking of their temperate zones, desserts, and plains. So different than Britain.

"Well that seems nice, I guess Hogwarts brings all of us back to England, we can't stay away it seems." he laughed again, the first genuine one since they had arrived. He was enjoying the company more also. "I was in Ravenclaw, and you?" the thirty-six year old said, trying to place her in a house in his mind. He hadn't recognized her or her name but that didn't mean they may have attended school together, that place was still big.

She smiled at his 'weather variation' comment. "So true." Sometimes having such a large nation could be a good thing. "What's your favorite place to visit? Personally, I love New Orleans. The people are just really friendly and the food's amazing." Though she could do without the bugs. Those weren't so fun to have to deal with…

"Just when you thought you were out, it pulls you back in!" Roxanne exclaimed, laughing at her own dumb joke. She was feeling a lot more comfortable and was being to enjoy this little date thing. "I was in Slytherin. Unfortunately, I stuck with mostly fellow snakes…" School unity hadn't exactly been her strong point.
