| | |  Canoeing Date: Hunter Keone and Ruth Flitzpatrick
The Otter River curves sinuously through the countryside near Ottery St. Catchpole, a sleepy town in Devon. The slow-moving river drifts through village, forest, and countryside alike, its sun-dappled surface hiding deep pockets of murky water and shale-bottomed shallow spots. The children in the village have a favored swimming hole in summer, and fishermen of all calibers enjoy plumbing the Otter’s depths from the bank. Now, however, the air is brisk and the water too chilly for either activity.
Uncle Fitch’s Campground and Water Craft Rentals is a Wizard-owned establishment just up the river from Ottery St. Catchpole that caters to a mixed crowd of both Muggle and Wizarding clientele. At this time of year, only the devoted outdoorsmen are camping in the forests and fields nearby, although the scent of wood smoke from their campfires permeates the brisk morning air. Still, Uncle Fitch is happy to rent out canoes and kayaks to the intrepid explorers sent by Ms. Raphael, and he has one of each waiting on the bank for the couple to choose between.
He also has a picnic basket provided by Ms. Raphael and her team, complete with a large thermos of hot chocolate and a quaint striped quilt in case the couple is brave enough to picnic outdoors. Uncle Fitch is also quick to remind his customers that the river flows through Ottery St. Catchpole, where several warm pubs and restaurants may provide a welcome respite from the wind, although he expects all water crafts to be beached at the pick-up point down river.

Hunter was just a tad bit nervous. He wasn't sure when the last time he'd ever been on a date had been. Definitely not since moving from the beautiful Hawaii isles to dreary England. He didn't even really know what to expect from this day, all he'd heard was they were to be going canoeing. Something he was comfortable with, thank merlin. Did that mean she was outdoorsy as well? He could only hope.
Reaching the meeting spot first, Hunt eyed the canoe and kayak waiting on the sand for them, before turning to scan the surrounding areas. He was looking for any sign of his date, but he was also taking in the beauty of the area.
Even if this ended as a fail, he could still be happy to have seen such a beautiful place not too far from his home. At least he knew where he could come next time he wanted an adventure?
Now, it was just to wait.

Today was the day. Her blind date day. She didn't know why she put her name on that Matchmaker. She even wasn't looking for The One just yet. Maybe she applied because she's bored and the idea sounds fun beside she needs more friends since she just moved in here. The red hair woman heard that her date today was going to be something outdoorsy. That was fun!
when Ruth arrived at the meeting point, her date was there. "Hello." she greeted her date. "Are you Hunter Keone?" she asked hoping that she had picked the right person. Then her eyes went from her date to the...canoes and kayaks?! How awesome was that?

As he was waiting, Hunter couldn't help but wonder if he shouldn't have brought her flowers or something. Would that have been overkill to have done something like that? Probably so. But, since he was feeling self conscious about it, he noticed a few wildflowers along the ground. They weren't anything big, and nothing that would be harmed by taking one, so he knelt down and plucked one out, careful to make sure there were no bugs on it or anything that could potentially jump out and harm her.
You never knew where you would find those darn jumping spiders.
Suddenly, there was a woman there as well, trying to clarify he was who he was. Hunt turned, and smiled giving a small nod. "Yes, that's me. You must be Miss Ruth Flitzpatrick? It's a pleasure to meet you." He offered the small wild flower to her, before following her eyes to the canoes and kayaks. "I must say, I'm kind of excited to get out on the water. Have you been canoeing and kayaking before?"

Ruth reached out to take the flowers from him. "Thank you for the flower." The red hair held them closer to her face for a moment so she could smell them. Hmm..Wildflower. She always loved wildflower.
She was relieved when her date said that he was excited to get out on the water. That mean he's an outdoor person like she is. "Yes. I have been kayaking twice I think. But I've never canoeing before." But how different that could be? "How about yourself?" Maybe he had more experience with canoes and kayaks than her.

Good. At least he'd most certainly joined up with the right person. Returning her smile, Hunt gave a nod of his head in acknowledgement to her request of calling her Ruth, rather than Miss Flitzpatrick. "And call me Hunter, or Hunt. Whichever better suits your fancy." He wasn't that particular, in all honesty. He was rather pleased to see she appreciated the flower. He thought it rather cliche, but sometimes cliche wasn't all bad. It didn't appear to have had any negative affects in this instance anyways. "You're welcome. It's not much, but I'm glad you like it."
It was probably good he didn't buy a big bouquet for her anyways. It would be impractical for a canoe or kayak ride.
Awesome! He was relieved to hear she had experience as well out on the water, he didn't need to worry about a woman who would be concerned about tipping the boat or anything. The anticipation of flipping is usually what caused the flip, so yes, he was definitely glad she'd been before as well. "Both. I grew up on the Hawaiian isles with my sisters. We would go canoeing and kayaking around the isles quite frequently." Glancing back at the two waiting boats, he turned and smiled widely at her. "Which would you rather use today?"

Hunt or Hunter? Hmm..She prefer Hunter more than Hunt. She didn't know why though. But the most important thing is that he won't call her Miss Flitzpatrick again because that sound to....formal? Yes well she's not a big fans of roses anyway so the wildflowers were suits her fancy. "Its perfect." she gave him a small smile. In her opinion its fitting with the place. It would be out of place if he gave her a big bouquet of flowers.
He grew up in Hawaii? Lucky. Which would she rather use today? "How about the kayak first?" Since she already know how to use kayak because the red hair woman was not keen to humiliate herself in their first date
