Aethonan Riding Date: Breese Summers and Ashley Green
The dark-red-brick stable stands out clearly against the snow-covered landscape. Through the windows and open doors, you can make out the shapes of horses’ heads peering over their stall doors to see what fascinating creature might pass by next. To the right and left of the stable and curving back behind it is a large paddock, and the many creatures present within make you realize this is not a stable for ordinary horses. These chestnut-colored creatures are known as Aethonans, a breed of winged horses native to Great Britain and Ireland.
Once you take all this in, you will then notice two Aethonans standing a little ways apart from their fellows in the stable and paddock. You will then notice that these two are staring expectantly at you and your date. Next to them is a bright pink sign that tells you these are the Aethonans you two will be riding for your date made by Ms. Juliet Raphael’s Matchmaking Service. The creatures are already saddled and bridled, so all you have to do is hop on and let the winged horses take you from there. Both of them are very well trained and calm, and it is highly unlikely that you will fall or get hurt while riding them (as for extra safety measures, the saddles have been charmed to help you keep your balance and stay in the saddle until you choose to dismount or until the Aethonans come back to the stable (i.e. at the end of the date)). In addition, saddlebags have been provided that contain a couple warm blankets (which have also been charmed for extra warmth). There may even be a Snuggie in there if you don’t mind being seen in public (well, with your date) in one. A thermos that has been charmed to fill up with anything from hot chocolate to coffee has also been provided in the saddlebag.
Once you mount them, the Aethonans will take you down a scenic wintry trail full of snow- and ice-laden trees and bushes and a few frozen creeks and streams here and there. At one point, you’ll even pass by a small frozen waterfall. Everything seems to glitter and glow in the sunlight that constantly breaks through the thin, wispy clouds in the sky. Feel free to make a few stops if you want to look at something more closely.
After awhile, you will reach an open, flat, snow-covered area, and here is where you have an important decision to make. If you wish to see what the beautiful countryside looks like from the sky, the Aethonans will take a graceful running leap into the sky. If you prefer to stay close to the ground, simply lean back just a little in the saddle and the Aethonans will continue down the trail. Either way, you will eventually end up back at the stable at the end of your date, where you can dismount, give the Aethonans a few sugar lumps from a nearby floating bowl, and – hopefully – arrange a second date later if you enjoyed your time here with your match. (And we do hope you enjoyed your time!)

Ashley was early per usual, wanting to get to the date first so that she had some time to calm herself. She was quite nervous as she approached the beautiful stable, wondering how her mother had finally talked her into doing this. Truthfully, she had agreed to come only to stop her mother from nagging. Yes, she hadn't been seeing anyone lately but this? A blind date? Ashley wasn't sure she was ready for it. The only thing that made her feel a little more at ease was that this place was lovely and riding Aethonans seemed pretty exciting.
Ashley walked over to the two winged horses with the pink sign in front of them, noting how out of place the bright pink sign felt in such an earthy place. She smiled widely at the creatures, feeling that this date might not be so bad after all. She had never been riding before let alone on something with wings and this was her chance to do it. Excitement slowly replaced the nervous feeling in the pit of her stomach and Ashley was glad to be rid of the jitters. She stuck a hand out and gently stroked on of the horses while she waited to meet her date.

Breese was pretty much looking forward to this date. He hadn't been on a date for a while. He'd been a bit too preoccupied by keeping himself looking as handsome as he was. It wasn't hard really. He was half McKenna, and therefore he knew he was some hot stuff. Whoever this girl was that he was having a blind date with was going to pretty lucky. Anyone that saw him was lucky really. Breese hadn't been riding for a while either. Brody's horses rarely got riden anymore, not now that all of the siblings had left home. So the date was going to be pretty interesting. Hopefully his date would be able to ride, because it would be truly awful if she could not. It wouldn't be very fun then.
Well, he was going to find out now wasn't he. The 27 year old made his way over to the stables, knowing he was just about on time. He was looking forward to this, not that he had informed any of his brothers of that. He'd figured that he better get her some flowers. He'd done that on his last date, and it had gone pretty well on. Andd....ahh! There his date was. By the Aethonans. Perfect. "Hello..." Breese called out, as he wandered over to her. She looked quite pretty. Score. "I brought you these." And with a smile, he offered the flowers out.

Ashley heard footsteps coming towards her and her heart started to race a bit. She hoped against hope that this guy was smart and funny and kind and cute...please let him be cute. At the sound of his voice she turned, pleasantly surprised by the man walking towards her. He was handsome, that was very apparent. Nice clothes too which was always good. He seemed quite confident as he approached, handing her the flowers he had brought. Smooth move... Ashley thought, returning his smile. She grabbed the flowers and lifted them to her nose, smelling them. "They're lovely, thanks." She returned her attention to Breese, realizing it was probably time to introduce herself. "I'm Ashley," she said with a nervous smile. "And I take it you're Breese?" or maybe he was some crazy psycho killer...that would be Ashley's luck of course.

It was probably a bad thing that Breese was almost instantly critiquing his date. He really could not help it though. He was a person that knew he would only want to be seen with someone who was very attractive. So far this woman was hitting the spot. Time would tell though if she lived up to Breese's high standards. His little sister had told him not to be too mean though, so Breese was going to try and nice. It wasn't his fault that he was totally hot and perfect, and only wanted someone who could match that. Maybe that was why he was still single, but that didn't faze him that much. Being single just gave him more time to mingle. But right now he was on a date and probably shouldn't have been thinking about mingly with other people.
"I'm Breese." He nodded with a big smile. Yes. He was the amazing Breese. She could bow if she wanted. Breese didn't say that though. He figured that she might just slap him and walk off, and that would not start their date out very well at all. "It's very nice to meet you Ashley." And that was a very beautiful name. "Lovely creatures aren't they?" Breese mused, as he patted the Aethonan

Ashley watched Breese as he seemed to be studying her. She wasn't sure she liked the feeling. She felt like he was evaluating her appearance and she wondered why. Was she not dressed nicely enough? Surely he seemed pleased though...She raised an eyebrow, not wanting to let his actions go unnoticed.
She returned his smile when he confirmed his identity, happy that she got his name correct. "It's very nice to meet you too." She said with a nod. At his comment about the Aethonans, she turned and faced them again. "They really are. Can't say I've ever ridden them but I'm always up for a challenge. You ride much?" She was curious, not that she thought they would be racing or anything. The matchmaker surely wouldn't send them on a dangerous first date. No these Aethonans must be safe to ride whether or not the rider has had experience, right?

Ooooh. She had noticed his staring. Opps. Not that Breese cared really. So what if he'd been checking her appearance out? Breese did that with all of his dates, and none of them had seemed to mind. But then he was the a Summers, related to the mighty McKennas, which basically meant that he was pretty epic. Breese thought he was perfect, and one raised eyebrow was not going to stop him from looking at the apperance of the women he dated. Not at all. His way had worked pretty well for him up until now, so he wasn't really going to change how he did thing. Sure it probably wasn't very nice to women, but Breese didn't care. He didn't care about many things really.
"Yes." Breese nodded with a smile, as he stopped patting the creature, and turned back to her. "Not this particular creature, but I rode a lot during my childhood." All of her siblings had. So, he was looking forward to this date. He hadn't been riding for ages, so he was probably going to be a bit rusty. But he'd still be epic, and look amazing. "Don't worry..." He mused, remembering that she'd said she hadn't ridden before. "I'll look after you." Seeing as that was the nice thing to do really.

Ashley had figured Breese was a rider. He seemed quite at ease in their current location. She gave him a half-smile at his offer to-what was it? Look after her? She hadn't needed anyone to look after her since she was eight and she wasn't one to ask for help. "How chivalrous of you." she said, smirking at him. She wasn't sure she was buying the whole nice guy thing, not yet at least.
She approached one of the aethonans, smiling at it. They were beautiful creatures. Even if the date was a disaster at least she could bond with the horse, maybe gain a love of riding or something. She looked at Breese and said, "So uh shall we get going?" She smiled at him, trying not to judge him too much on the brief small talk they had had so far. There had to be something more to him than his looks and his ability to put the moves on. Hopefully she would find out more as they rode.

Well. Breese had hoped that that would go down well. And it seemed to have just worked. Perfect. He smiled at Ashley. "Just how my mother taught me to be." Not really. His mother had rather been concerned with just looking pretty, and taking them out to silly parties. But Breese knew that to get the girl, he had to act kind of nice to them. And protecting them, well that was sure that was bound to go down well. It had worked well for him with all the other girls he'd been with. His older brothers had definetly taught him well. Breese was definetly going to use these skills, and if they didn't work on Ashley he would just get the next girl. It wasn't as if many girls could resist the Summers Charm after all.
"We should..." Because this date was going to go well. Hmm. If she hadn't been on one of these creatures before, maybe she wouldn't know how to get on. That owuld be rather interesting. "Do you know how to get on?" He asked with a smile. Breese could totally offer his services if they were needed.

Did she know how to get on an Aethonan? Truthfully she had never been on a horse, just admired them from afar. These ones seemed to be all set up for them though and how hard could it be really? "I don't actually but I'll give it a go...you just hold the saddle right?... and er-swing your leg over?" She looked at Breese for confirmation that she was on the right track.

Okay. So she didn't really know how to get on. That could provide some slight amusement. Although she did had a good idea of how to get on, so maybe she would be able to get on good. "Yeah. Thats how you get on." Breese wasn't going to offer her any help. She had a bit of an idea, and they'd probably just end up on the floor if he offered some advice. Hopefully the creatures wouldn't be that hard to get on anyway. They seemed okay. Breese offered Ashley a smile, before heading over to the other Aethonan. "Hey girl." He patted the creature, giving her a nice stroke. She was very pretty, just like his date was. This was turning out to be pretty great so far. Pretty date, Pretty Aethonan. Breese was feeling pretty happy right now.
Without much further thinking Breese took a hold of the saddle, and swung his leg round, getting onto the creature. Perfect. Breese felt quite at home up here. It reminded him of his teenage years with his brothers. Taking the reins in his hands, he awaited Ashley to mount her creature. Then they could get going.

Ashley nodded, "Okay. Good." At least she hadn't been completely wrong about mounting the horse, that could have been embarrassing. She still decided to wait until Breese was on his Aethonan before hopping on herself. She wanted to watch him do it so she could repeat the movement exactly as he did. She couldn't help but smile as she watched him interact with the Aethonan, thinking it was sweet how gently he interacted with the creature.
She watched carefully as Breese mounted the Aethonan perfectly. No pressure or anything after that perfect mount...Making eye contact with him for a brief moment, she smiled sheepishly. Then, she grabbed the saddle like he had and swung her leg over the creature, pulling herself up. Phew. She had done it! She grabbed the reins with a confident smile and turned to her date. "Shall we?"
