Hufflepuff v. Slytherin

There was still snow on the ground and on the trees but the skies were blue with large fluffy white clouds floating overhead. The air was crisp and all Professor Vindictus could think of was how nice it would be to sit in the stands and watch the game while sipping hot cocoa. Perhaps after the game he could relax a little...but now he had to get the game started.

His boots crunched on the icy ground as he strode out to the center of the Pitch, and he used a Muggle megaphone to address the crowd (he still didn't trust his new wand). "Welcome to today's fixture between Slytherin and defending Quidditch Cup Champions Hufflepuff!" his voice boomed. "Give your teams a round of applause as they take to the field!"


The gates leading to the team locker rooms opened and there was a loud 'whoosh' as the teams flew onto the pitch.

After several minutes of flying around the Pitch, the players settled into position overhead. Professor Vindictus tossed away the megaphone and used his wand to open the equipment trunk. He released the Bludgers and Snitch into the air, and held the Quaffle in his hands.

"I want a clean game from both Houses. Remember to play your positions and don't let the crowd distract you. Stick to the game and do your best not to look down at the blinding snow," he said to the players overhead. "On my whistle . . . one . . . two . . . TWEET!" A shrill whistle was heard and he tossed the Quaffle into the air.

It's a blur of green and yellow as the Chasers fight over the Quaffle . . . pushing and shoving occurrs . . . a few elbows miss several fortunate noses . . . suddenly, Kaplinski Rival of Slytherin emerges from the scrum and zooms down the Pitch with the Quaffle . . . several Hufflepuffs follow in hot pursuit . . . Rival passes to Aaron Anderson . . . Anderson catches it and zooms ahead . . . he enters the scoring area . . . Anderson raises his arm and he shoots . . . DING! Aaron Anderson scores the first points of the game for Slytherin!

Miranda BelCanto retrieves the Quaffle and she puts it back into play . . . her pass is caught by Cedric Leone and he zooms down the Pitch . . . Leone nearly collides with Nicolette Finn who tries to block his path . . . he passes to Sarah Winchester . . . Winchester makes the catch and zooms forward . . . she passes to Ryder Montgomery . . . Montgomery catches it and he zooms into the scoring area . . . he raises his arm and shoots . . . THWACK! Sebastian Whitcomb smacks the Quaffle away from the center goal hoop with a sweeping motion of his broomstick and the Quaffle nearly knocks a glittering object out of the sky . . . .

Sebastian Whitcomb's blocked shot sails through the air and its caught by Aaron Anderson . . . Anderson tucks the Quaffle under his arm and he zooms down the Pitch . . . EEEEE! EEEEEE! Anderson glances over his shoulder and sees the Bludger heading towards him . . . he zig-zags across the Pitch and looks to pass to a teammate . . . EEEE! EEEEE! CRACK! Kaika Lockhart's bat makes contact with the Bludger and knocks Kaplinski Rival off her broom . . . Anderson enters the scoring area . . . he raises his arm and he shoots . . . THWACK! Miranda BelCanto swoops down and makes a spectacular save! The golden object is kicked around by Rival as she struggles to get back on her broom.
