As a brand new forum, a good place to start with discussions is the very beginning. So let's go back to infancy and childhood. Discuss some of what Lucius' childhood could have possibly been like? {His family, status, pets, etc}

Aww! Dear Lucius is probably the product of a very strict, pureblood family. Moneyed and influential to boot! He probably had all his needs and wants taken care of; pampered I would say, a bit like his son would be later on in life. But... the family probably had a particular code of ethics that had to be adhered to, so they could keep up appearances in public. So, young Lucius must have been taught to stick to the house rules. But being a Slytherin, he grew up learning how to schmooze up to authority and get what he wanted out of the people he met. He was probably the best kind of slytherin in school... well mannered, articulate, seemingly following the rules if it agreed with his own plans.

I would imagine that Lucius was a pampered child, and was given everything that he wanted and asked for. He never wanted for anything, but was taught to hate muggles by his parents. That was no doubt something that was handled down in his family for many generations back. He was taught at an early age to be haughty and aristocratic, and I imagine him being that way even as a very young child. It just fits him.

i think that he treated Draco exactly as his father treated him, drumming all the pure blood thoughts into his head etc... i think he was quite spoilt, but i don't think his parents were around much, maybe the house - elves were his nanny or something.

I think the same. I also think that Lucius hadn't a nice childhood. Just playing with children who are like him purebloods and he certainly got really evil punishment when he did something wrong like saying something false or broke things.

even more so simple things - because his parents would have grown up with victorian disiplines as a child, they treated Lucius like that too.

i just thought... 'aww look at the baby Lucius, ain't he cute?' just doesn't catch on does it? XD

I'm sure Lucius was a handsome child, like most kids are. But what turns our favorable outlook on him, is the way he was raised to look down on people. Just like he taught Draco when he became a father... and Draco would probably do the same with his son. (though I would hope he would be closer and affectionate with his son than Lucius was with him. )
