Ten Bells is a muggle pub. It is a place to gather outside of the ministry area/Diagon Alley and is a good place to meet for darts, Pool and other fun pub games. It serves a full menu and is available for evening dates and celebratory events that include both wizards and muggles who co-mingle, though the muggles have no idea there are wizards among them.

Required attire for Wizards is standard muggle apparel and this is a place to enjoy your time with friends, but also learn more about the muggle world. This is an open place, no restrictions except it is adults only.

There is a room near the restrooms that is labeled authorized personnel only. It is locked, but only for muggles. It is the room where wizards may apparate in. Posted on the door, in bold, bright colors are the words: [b]NO MAGIC IS TO BE PERFORMED BEYOND THIS DOOR. If you fail to follow this rule you will be sent home. (and ALL SS rules apply).

Additional rules:
1. No one liner posts. Interact, set a mood, be creative in your character and in your interactions.
2. Group activities and the occasional RP game (dart, pool, etc.) tournaments may be staged. An annual story-telling event will be staged to correspond with the summer and winter solstice to crown the Ten Bells storytelling champion.
3. If you have an established ministry character, you can just link to the bio. Come and go as you wish.

Of course like every wannabe rock star he dresses slightly out of the ordinary, even for a wizard, wearing things like lime green shirts and occasionally a red feathery jacket. Background: Johnny is a normal 40 year old man. He grew up in the wizarding world, but as a squib, he never got the chance to actually perform magic with a wand. But, you just see what he can do with a knife, a spatula and a deep fryer. His culinary skills are nothing if not remarkable. He decided as a young man that food was where his passion lay. He had always desired to open a place that wizards could get amazing muggle food and he could still be a part of the wizard world. This place is known to wizards as a safe muggle establishment where they can come. In the rear is a room that they can apparate into, but that is the only magic allowed on the grounds. Johnny has had no problem banning a wizard from the place for immature displays of magic. Johnny has a couple friends who are aurors that like to come here as a place to do business without wizard interference and so they have helped Johnny take care of obnoxious wizards. This place also is a pretty good place for muggles. As a squib, Johnny has a number of muggle friends and they helped him get this place going. It is a dream job for him and he loves helping muggles and wizards come together. Pull a stool up and have a chat, he'll bend your ear for a while.
Appearance: Pot Belly, wears green crocs and billowy pajama pants with his chef's top. Reading the crest on the Chef's tunic you see that it bears the name, "Le Cordon Bleu". Johnny comes into the front room and looks around. Every day he's amazed at his tremendous good fortune. His souz chefs are in the back prepping for today's customers, getting ready today's lunch special. He begins to write it out on the chalkboard. He thinks it will be popular. On the chalkboard he scrawls out the following words.

Pheasant stew served in a farmer's bread bowl
Served with a cheese platter of brie, smoked gouda and passendale

Satisfied with the way it read, he walked back into the dining room area and began to ensure the bar was stocked and that the register was set properly for the beginning of the day. Satisfied that all was ready, he went back to the kitchen and started barking orders, tasting the stews and ensuring the cheese steward and sommelier had an adequate selection.

Satisfied that everything was ready, he went and unlocked the door and headed to the kitchen to await his customers.

Ten Bells was not new to Brian. It was a regular place he used to hang out with his friends. And this was another weekend. He was feeling fresh after a good shower and a nice drive from his home. The pub seems almost empty except just one or two persons sitting here and there, talking lazily. Well it was lil early in the evening, it will take time to see the full crowd.

Brian glanced to his left and right to see if any familiar face was there, particularly Edward. He had not seen him nearly for a week after that unexpected meeting in the Ministry. Poor guy. He pouted and walking straightly towards the dart board. His favourite game in the pub followed by pool. He was in his clean half white spotless shirt as first two buttons undid which revealed his perfect chiseled chest partially. The casual black Jeans with a traiditional cut goes well with the shirt. Becca liked this combination on him he ran his left hand into his hair, smiled at the thought.

She may give him some incentives..Haha..

She might be here lil later since she had to do some purchasing for the next week. There was a dinner too they need to attend next week. With those thoughts he sat on the high raised bar stool and picked up the blunt-end darts in hands. His ocean blue eyes were not drifting off the board as he threw the first dart on the board. As usual, he had it very near to the bullseye. "Gah." he threw his head back for the missed chance. He picked up the next one...slighly swinging on the stool.

Johnny walked out to the main room and called out, "Oi! Brian. Whatcher up to?" He knew what Brian was up to. He was probably here to meet Becca, again. Brian was one of Johnny's regulars, he came here with another chap who seemed to have been absent for a while. "What happened to your mate? Haven't seen him for a while."

Johnny got out a glass and poured Brian's regular drink and set it on the bar. "You know, if you keep doing those repetitve arm motions that your arm will only be muscular on the one side. Maybe you should try using the other arm, see how you do with it."

He looked up under his floppy fringe at the sky, "Ah jees" he said to himself. He was looking extra tall today due to his stack heels making his legs in their corduory trousers look like sticks.
He pushed the door of the pub open. He walked up to the bar. "Y'alright Johnny, "Do you reckon I can 'ave a coffee, put a bit of whiskey in it while you're at it" he said rubbing his eyes, "I've been up most of the night, need something to calm me down like". He leaned on the bar before saying "so, 'ow're things?".

As the sliver of daylight became a flood, Johnny looked up and saw a hunched over figure enter the doorway and shut the door behind him, plunging the room back into it's comforting darkness. The only light now coming from the lanterns on the walls and hanging from the chandeliers and brief arrows of light shining through the stained glass of the door. As his eyes adjusted, Johnny saw the face of Tristam Crane and gave a crooked grin. He could tell it hadn't been Tristam's best night and his order confirmed it. Reaching under the bar and grabbing a porcelain, black cup, Johnny set it upon a matching saucer, poured strong, black coffee into it and added a few nips of the requested addition. Had a rough one, have ya?" Johnny asked Tristam. Seemed that was the way it was with these musicians. Never enough money really to earn a living and always up early into the day.

Johnny slid the cup and saucer down the bar and wiped the drops that had spilled using his always present barmop. He reached under the bar, grabbed his tall glass and took a few sips of the refreshing water he always drank. He had tried other things, but water was the only thing that really gave him a sense of refreshment and comfort. In response to Tristam's questions, Johnny shrugged and smiled, "Just like always. I'm up on mah two legs, cooking and smiling."

Description - Samantha is very bright, well educated and well spoken. Born in London to pureblood, well connected parents (some rumor that her father was a Death Eater), she is a graduate of Hogwarts School for Witchcraft and Wizardry and a great admirer of Harry Potter (hence the photos in her office). When she was a student at Hogwarts she was a Slytherin, and is very proud of that fact. She likes to keep a low profile and doesn't want people to know much about her personal life (probably because of the whole father was a Death Eater thing), she prefers an air of mystery. Her credo in life is to always do the best job she can, to impress people and go as far as she possibly can. She is very skilled at selling herself and is very driven. She is also obsessed with her personal appearance and seems to have somehow discovered the fountain of youth. She wears black a lot because not only does she think it makes her look very slim but also somewhat authoritative and imposing to others, which is what she wants to do. There is a soft side to Samantha which very few people really know, only her closest friends.

Sliding in through the door, Becca glanced around. Sighing contentedly as the door closed quickly and the room went back to it's normal darkness, her eyes scanned the room and came to rest on Brian. By the dartboard as usual. She grinned and walked over to Brian in her knee length red dress. "Hey love." she sat on the tall stool next to him and glanced at the dart board. "You don't want the bullseye, you want treble twenty, I keep telling you" she shook her head and laughed softly.

Swinging her legs round to look at Johnny, she nodded to him and smiled "Usual please" she listened to his advice he'd given to Brian "Haha, I think we can work on that together" she winked at him and turned a little so she could see Brian and Johnny both at the same time. "Mmm, Johnny, do you like what he's wearing?" Becca asked as she looked at what Brian was wearing. Smiling warmly at Brian, Becca shook her head and left him to his darts.

Glancing around again, she looked at the other regulars. Usual bunch, shy and quiet. She looked down the bar at the guy who'd ordered a coffee and instinctively moved towards Brian, recoiling from the coffee. She shook her head a little, they really had to do that allergy, coffee week session thing soon. Sitting up straight, she smiled kindly at the guy and turned to Brian again, watching what he was doing.

As the door opened and quickly closed, Johnny saw Becky come in. He should have known she wasn't too far behind Brian's entrance. Reaching over to grab a tall glass, he put a few ice cubes into it before pouring a ruby red liquid with a shot of soda water in it for a nice spritzer. Adding a slice of valencia orange, he set it down in front of her and then she asked most likely the oddest question he'd ever been asked. Do I like what he's wearing? he thought, as long as he's wearing breeches and a shirt, he could care less. Johnny shrugged. "It's alright. Prolly looks better on 'im than on me."

Johnny asked her if she wanted anything to eat. He was hoping someone would ask for the special. He was very proud of how it turned out and bringing pheasant in wasn't the easiest thing to do.



Edward: The door opens and Edward steps into the familiar, warm coziness of the Ten Bells. He has come here for a different reason than normal. He closes the door and sees his mate, Brian over at the dart board. Looking around, he sees Tristam at the bar, most likely talking about his latest musical adventure. Edward would never understand the allure of living from gig to gig, trying to earn a living. He liked having a steady income. He patted Tristam on the back as he passed by to say hello to Brian and Becca.

As he approached them, he wondered if she would show up. He was cleaned up, as he was wearing a nice pair of black jeans, some brown Skechers he picked up in America on his last magical security conference and a Tshirt bearing the logo of his favorite band, The Smiths. His hair was trimmed and tonight, much cleaner. His face was back to it's normal moustache and goatee and he felt better. He had spent the last few days eating more and heading to the gym. The workouts really helped him work out the stress and he certainly had more energy. She may have broken his spirit for a while, but Edward was ready to break off from his self-pitying morass.

Patting Brian on the back, and giving Becca a warm side-hug, he stood straight and glanced at the door. Not seeing her yet, he looked over at Johnny and requested a pint of his stout. It was an acquired taste, but the bitterness always appealed to him.

She smiled and took the drink into her hand "Well... yeah, but I love it" Becca reached over to smooth out Brian's shirt as Johnny asked about food. Turning back to him, she looked at the menu "Mmm, well... the special looks interesting" she looked up quickly, smiling. Then she looked at Brian, wondering if he wanted anything. He'll order when he's ready. She nodded "Okay, one special please" she put the menu down and sipped her drink "Nice one" she said appreciatively as she looked at the drink.

Swinging a little on her chair, she eyed the dart that Brian had. Grinning, she put down her drink and stole it off him. Winking at him, she looked at the dartboard and threw it. Good shot. She praised herself as she got a treble twenty. "And that... is why you need me to tutor you" she ruffled Brian's hair and sat down again, giving Edward a small hug as he appeared. "Feeling better then?" she asked as she took in his appearance, smiling happily.

Johnny shrugged at her reaction. He would feel bad for maybe disappointing her, but does a man really care what another man is wearing. Certainly it's true a man ought to be presentable, though Johnny himself didn't care much what he looked like, but to compliment another man on his clothes was downright silly. As she gave a compliment to his beverage, he nodded. He was especially pleased that she had chosen the special. Johnny had been experimenting with the mirepoix. He had begun to add a touch of basil and taragon to the celery, onion and carrot mixture during the saute, in addition to the garlic, salt and pepper. As well, he had gone with a piont grigio to add some acidity. It matched pretty well with the pheasant, which he had chopped into nice chunks. The bitterness of the farmers bread and it's heavy makeup really added to the stew. He turned to tell the sous chef the order and barked at the cheese steward to bring out the platter.




Edward: As Becca gave him the hug, he nodded. "A bit. I had a nice evening after I left you guys, and it changed my outlook." Speaking of nice time the other night, he was getting more nervous that Krel wouldn't come. She seemed a little less than excited that he had asked her to meet him here. He wondered if he should have gone and met her in a park and then come here together.

Samantha had just gotten gotten off work and wanted to rewind a little bit. She didn't feel like going to Diagon Alley today and was looking for something new. She had heard someone mention a place called the Ten Bells, she wasn't sure who it was, but she decided that might be a nice place to check out today.

Somehow, she was able to find the correct coordinates for the place. It was a muggle establishment, she observed, and seemed nice enough on the outside.

As she entered the bar she immediately recognized a couple people she knew, magical people at that. Becca and Brian were here! Perhaps it had been Becca who had first mentioned this place to her, she wasn't quite certain. Not that it mattered, anyway, but she had had a few conversations with her here and there and regarded her as a friend, so it very well could have come up. It didn't really matter that much, anyway.

"Well, hello, you two," Samantha said with a smile. There was another man with them, one she had seen around the Ministry but had never officially met. She gave him a quick smile as well, wondering if she should introduce herself.

ooc: Welcome to the Ten Bells, Frida and Samantha. Johnny may look gruff, but he's a big softy inside. Play pool, darts or whatever suits your fancy. In a few weeks...there will be an announcement about a summer storytelling competition.

Johnny looked up at the new arrival. Business was about average, and he was pleased to see more folks coming in. He nodded in her direction as she passed by and headed for Brian and Becca. He waited to see if she would order, but he was in no hurry. People usually took their time the first go around and so he was pleased to allow her to make herself comfortable. He turned and began to wipe dry some glasses that had come from the back dishwasher. He was going to have to work on theat blasted heating element. Every time he got someone to come out, they said it was fine. But they only ran 6 glasses through the thing.

She smiled and looked down at the bar "Johnny, next time, just tell me to shut up" Becca laughed as she looked up at him again. Turning back to Edward as Johnny did his thing, Becca listened "Ah, sounds good. Where did you go?" she asked interestedly, hoping Brian wouldn't mind her asking all the questions for him.

When Samantha walked in, Becca shivered from the cold air and then looked up "Samantha!" Becca stood up and hugged her quickly "Brian, as you know" she indicated Brian "And this is Edward" she looked at Edward. "Edward, this is Samantha" Becca sat back down "Have a seat Samantha" she invited her "And you Edward" Becca smiled and jumped up to take the dart from the dartboard. Smiling quickly at them, she threw it and shook her head "So close" she mumbled, looking up at the dart that had landed just above the treble twenty.

Samantha gave Becca a hug back. "I'm so happy to see you here!", she exclaimed. Already this place was starting to feel like a home away from home. "It's great to see you, Brian, as well, and very nice to meet you Edward," she said sincerely.

She would order a butterbeer in just a moment, she knew that the man behind the bar probably could use a little break from all the constant activity here in this place. Running a pub was probably hard work, a lot different from what Samantha was used to. He could use a break for a few moments, at least. But just then, unexpectedly he had come over to the table. How efficient! "Hello, I would like a butterbeer, please," she said.

Samantha took a seat. "This is a great looking place," she said honestly. "One of those undiscovered treasures you hear about. Was it you who mentioned this place, Becca, or maybe I might have heard about it someplace else? It wasn't you, was it, Brian?" Samantha had actually talked more to Becca than she had to Brian, but she was overjoyed with happiness for the two of them, that they had discovered love for each other.
