Menagerie Rules and Guidelines
Firstly, credit to my predecessor Menagerie Mods (Von, Kirstie, and amyliaz) for providing the basic outline for these rules. While they have been amended slightly, as well as some new ones added, the basic gist is the same.
One) All
SS forum rules apply here. All the time. No ifs, ands, or buts about it. These rules apply whenever you make a post, start a new thread, and just ALL THE TIME. Follow them and everyone stays happy.
Two) There is to be NO cursing, cussing, or swearing. This doesn't matter if it was used in the books or makes a funny reply to the post before yours. Basically, if it has a swear word in it, it is not appropriate to post. Any use of characters such as *%! or any other alternative ways still counts as cursing, cussing or swearing and you will be issued a warning for it.
Three) If you ever come across a post or a thread that you find offensive, PLEASE do not take it into your own hands. Instead, contact the Menagerie Moderator and ask them to handle the situation. Remember, not everyone knows or is familiar with all the rules of the site.
Four) There will be no fighting with other members. Respect others opinions, even if you don't agree with them. We're all here because we are fans of the Harry Potter books; you don't have to agree with other's favorite classes or characters, but you
do have to respect their opinions. Disrespectful behavior towards members of this site will not be tolerated and you will be issued a warning. If you have a problem with another person, then please contact either
Lissy Longbottom or
Zoe for assistance.
Five) The Magical Menagerie is a forum for threads about General Harry Potter topics that are not directly book or movie related. Any threads about Harry Potter movies and books, or non-HP movies and books, will be closed, and eventually deleted.
Six) Always check the forum thoroughly when posting a new topic. For instance, we don't need five threads about patronuses. Any duplicate threads will be locked and deleted so make sure what you are about to post is not there already.
Seven) The Menagerie is the place for General HP discussions; in other words,
no chatting. If you choose to chat in these threads, a warning will be issued. Stay on topic.
Eight) No spamming. Spamming is the posting of random, off-topic, posts. Spamming also includes posting the same post twice or more. If you have to add something, just edit your original post, using the edit button. Also, please refrain from use of one-word posts. As these are discussions, then you should have at least a sentence to add to the topic. The first offense, you will be given a PM warning. If it continues to occur, you will be issued a site warning.
Nine) Threads that have not been posted in for 2 months will be bumped to the top of the forum. Threads inactive for 3 months will be deleted.
