Madame Malkin's (Graphics & Art)Come on into to the mad workshop where SS's finest avvy and siggy makers are hard at work! Make requests here. Also includes SS's art work and portfolios.
This thread is for Madam Malkin’s shop owners and graphic makers alike. You may discuss issues that you have been having as a shop owner, ideas, and ask questions regarding all shop needs. You may even request a tutorial here from a certain Graphic Maker. HOWEVER, if the Graphic Maker concedes in making the tutorial, those will and should still be posted in the Sewing Lessons thread.
Possible Discussion Subjects:
Problems with requests
Image Enhancing Techniques
Ideas On How To Promote Your Shop
Resources [i.e. fonts, textures, etc.]
etc.
Keep in mind that ALL SS BOARD RULES APPLY, therefore, keep it friendly. This topic is viewable to all members so if you don't want someone to read something it's probably best you don't post it. ;]

Can anyone recommend a good similar image host to Photobucket? For some reason it's decreasing the file sizes of my graphics and making them look bleh.

WAAAH! I'm so thankful I'm not the only one having problems with photobucket. I noticed that a few weeks ago actually while completing requests. I'm using Tinypic.com. You can have subfolders and everything just like photobucket. It's pretty easy to use. It's where I'm uploading/hosting my images now.

Ah thank you so much! I didn't realise you could have your own account on Tiny Pic. I've just registered and it seems to be exactly what I was looking for.

Me too! I'm having the same problem. Some graphics which I've uploaded on PB looks blurred when I put them on SS. And Yay! I think I'm gonna use that site from now on.
Hmm.... is it okay if this thread allows people to talk about graphics.
I love this icon of Devon Murray
But how do I get the bigger image to get the same sort of tone cause when I always try with this one [Devon - HBP shot] it always comes out in blury or something like that
and also where can I find high quality pictures of Jessie Cave's screen test cause I can't find any and all the ones I find are bad quality like blured or something

Hey there! You'll have to go over to the Submit Your Signature Here thread, and request for one of the mods to put it in for you.
You have to make sure to state that you've Read the Rules, how you want the signature aligned (Centre, Right or Left), then your signature and finally that you've re-read all the rules before posting ANYTHING there.
There are a number of ways to put a link into your signature. You can turn the image into a link, or you can post some text, with the link wrapped around it. Click on these two spoiler tabs to read how to do it!
SPOILER!!: Making a graphic a link
Once you've read the rules of the Submit Your Signature Here thead, then you can go ahead and post your signature. I'm going to use MY graphics shop for an example, but you'll have to change these things to make them YOUR signature.
1: Copy and paste the IMG link into the post.
2: Then, highlight ALL of the code, and click on the "insert link" button. (The button with the globe and a chain, next to your colour options.) So that the coding looks like this:
See how you can click on the image, to find your way to my graphics shop. It's easy peesy!
So... This is the coding:
[IMG]Graphic URL here[/*IMG][/*URL]
Use this for your base. Change the text for the correct URL's, and remove the red *'s, other wise the links won't work!
Buuuut, Use this help if you want to put a text link underneath or above your signature graphic.
SPOILER!!: Adding a text link
Once you've read the rules of the Submit Your Signature Here thead, then you can go ahead and post your signature. I'm going to use MY graphics shop for an example, but you'll have to change these things to make them YOUR signature.
1: Copy and paste your image into the post.
2: below the coding, on a new line, type the writing you want.
Visit Earth, Wind & Fire Graphics today!
3: Then, add things like font size (Size 1 is recommended for Signatures.) and colour, to make it look more interesting.
Visit Earth, Wind & Fire Graphics today!
4: As you can see, that already makes an improvement. Now all you have to do, is put the URL code of your shop around ALL of your coding of the text, Like so:
Hogwarts RPG Name: Carson Alexander Jordan Dylan Benjamin McIntyre
Third Year
Ministry RPG Name:
Jade Alexandria Carmen Lucinda Anderson
Magical Maintenance
| Sammi Boo | 1/3 of the 'OO' trio | CARROTS | Directioner | BOOYA!

Ok with the Devon Murray image, try making the image larger and if it's blurry then sharpen it but don't sharpen it too much as it may make the image worse.
As for the Jessie Cave images, try looking to see if she has an official website and check out the images on it, you may find some high quality screen caps on there.

I have a question:
I am thinking about starting a graphic shop but I can't find anywhere that tells me the requirements for a PP. What is the pixel sizing for one?

Anyone know how I claim the graphics ive got made? I'v tried saving them but they won't load when I want to use them.
Well, once you save the images to your computer, you need to upload them to an online server (the most commonly used one is Image hosting, free photo sharing & video sharing at Photobucket), then apply to have your siggy put in through the Submit your Signature thread.
Go to this forum, there are clearer instructions on how to get your graphics up.
Good luck! If you still have trouble, just send me or any other mod a PM, and we'll help you out.

The requirements are:
350 x 350 pixels or 60.5 KB (whichever is smaller)

This is fairly simple to do! You basically have this coding [s*]insert your text here[/*s]. You have to take the stars out of course. and when you do it looks like this
Hope this helps. C:

Heey. I know for sure that when you upload it onto tinypic you can see the weight of a graphic. You can also see it by saving the graphic and looking at the properties of the file. If you're using photoshop, you can save it for webs and devices and when you look at it, it should tell you the file's weight as well.
Let me know if it's confusing and I'll take screenshots of it all.
Hope this helps!
