 Rain or shine, the Great Hall continues to be the hub of the school. Four long tables, one for each House as defined by the banners floating above them, are stationed in the enormous room facing the raised table reserved for the school staff. Already placed on the tables are silver plates with accompanying cutlery and goblets. Mountains of food and pitchers containing your favourite beverages are at your fingertips.
Whether you arrived for breakfast, lunch, or dinner on time or late, feel free to dig in as the headmistress has no speech to give. Keep yourself preoccupied by catching up with your fellow housemates or those who are visiting from the other tables while sink your teeth into the hearty and delicious meal prepared by the house-elves. Just remember to display proper eating etiquette and don't get any funny ideas. Food is to be eaten, not thrown across the dining room. Wasting food will come at a price that you will not like to pay.

Ah... Hogwarts, oh how he missed this place some, and here here was once again but it wasn't in a way that he wanted for sure. "What a bloody great way to be back here, just how I wanted to be back, hope Stella and the others are ok!" he thought to himself. The thought of his cousins here was the main reason why he came, and to help of course. He wasn't in pest control, but he was sure he was as good as them with his knowledge, with a spare cage in hand his blue eyes scanned around the place.
Bryson encountered so many creatures over the years, he was surprised what these mutants were that were around the castle, but a little pink fluff balls ate a Professor? That was a bit weird even for him, but hey you'll be surprised what magical creatures can do, even if they're small. Seeing the tables he noted the tables were mostly gone, the ex Hufflepuff looked around some more observing more.

Tristan had gotten to the party a little late, and quickly took in the scene before him. Two tables missing? These creatures were definitely wrecking havoc. He was glad that the Headmaster had called in the ministry to help. Those cages would certainly come in handy.
"Kassandra I'll join you, if you don't mind." He said with a small nod and a grin. He was sure she wouldn't, but he asked anyway. There was a lot of ground to cover.

These were living things too and it’s what they did for survival... even if it involved consuming everything and anyone. She looked kindly at Maxie. “Professor Sutton doesn’t think that you did it, Mr. Anderson- Belfort. None of you would eat a wooden table... just as Mr. Dakest pointed out.’’
Alerted by Lucas, Kay whirled around. There was a group of the creatures consuming yet another House table. “Alice,’’ she said warningly. “Let the Ministry handle this.’’ For they were joined by the Headmaster and official looking persons a short time later. There was a grave nod to Kalen. “They did.’’ It was all nasty business, even making her miss the screaming from one of the corridors earlier.
Search parties were being formed but Kay looked at the students gathered there. “If you would prefer to head back to the safety of your Common Rooms, I’ll escort you.

The Accidents and Catastrophes Department had been working around the clock to get these cages done and they finally were!
Megan was totally pumped about the whole thing (not about that professor getting eaten) but rather about the field trip and getting out of paper work (for now). Still holding the cage in her hand, she swept the place they called the Great Hall with her keen gaze. Empty spaces told her that tables, most likely similar to the remaining, had been eaten.
“Nasty creatures,’’ she muttered. But these babies- the cages- would hold them. They were like aliens... they needed to be studied. It would be sort of like having a xenology situation. The blond looked to the Headmaster as he gave instructions to his staff then to Eliora. "I’ll go with the Headmaster if that’s okay, boss lady,’’ Megan chirped enthusiastically.
She had no care in the world.
Nope. None at all.
She was so sure the Departments would accomplish what they came here to. | |

Caleb greeted the headmaster with a respectful nod as the headmaster had entered (Despite all the chaos) and listened to his instructions. There were creatures everywhere at once. It was a bit overwhelming. Caleb did step forward though.

Of course Alice knew why Kaysha was talking to her in that stern tone. But just because she knew there was a logical reason behind it didn't mean that she had to appreciate it, and she did not appreciate it. "But Kaysha, I didn't say anything about harming them," she replied, her tone moderately defensive. "Not today, anyway." That last part was muttered under her breath.
But then the Horde charged in, and it took all of her willpower (plus another chiding from Kay) to make her not throw something at the disgusting creatures. UGH!!! Just watching them made her skin crawl. They were gone as quickly as they had come, replaced by the much less offensive Ministry workers and headmaster. "Finally!" she exclaimed at the sight of the workers. Finally the pesky creatures were going to dealt with!
Alice listened with determination as the headmaster outlined the plan to capture the creatures. She kept waiting to hear where she would be assigned.....and it looked like she would keep on waiting, as it didn't look she was being acknowledged at all. She recalled that day in the courtyard, the day that had caused the tension she now felt between herself and her colleagues. Malachi had taken Tristan's side in that argument, she remembered, and he still hadn't fired that unruly house elf for attacking her. Now, he seemed to be blacklisting her. Malachi did not trust her! That had to be it.
The revelation (which she was now 90 percent certain was true) offended her greatly, and it may have shown in her face. That wasn't good. She couldn't let them see that she was upset.
She turned to address Kaysha and Kalen. "Would you prefer I accompany you and the students? Or I could go with you, Kalen. I don't want to make the decision." Because she most certainly did not want to go with Tristan, and the only way she would go with Malachi was if he ordered her to.

Merlin. She didn’t ask if the young man had eaten the table. She obviously didn’t think that was the case. She had asked him before seeing the bite marks what was left of the Slytherin table. However, none of it mattered after seeing The Horde enter, devour the Hufflepuff table, then scamper off. The pink fluffy situation was getting out of control.
Feeling a bit uneasy about how quickly the table had been consumed and by the large number of pink fluffies, Kassie was getting ready to suggest the students should be taken to a safer location. Thankfully, the Headmaster and Ministry workers arrived. “I’d be happy to check the towers. Let’s get this infestation under control.” She stepped a bit off to the side to allow her team to form. “Who would like to join me?” Her eye caught Tristan and she nodded. “That would be much appreciated, Professor Wayland.” From what was just witnessed, they were going to need a lot of cages and a good number of people rounding them up.

This wasn't technically her specialty. Technically. Technically she hid magical things from muggles and she was quite terrific at that job if she does say so herself, but Bambi would never turn down an opportunity to head back to the school that changed her life. One day Ariadne will go here, and Bambi wanted to know that she did everything in her power to make the castle as safe a place as it could be.
Which, granted, was not a safe place at all if one was to believe the Daily Prophet articles. But Ariadne was four, so Hogwarts had plenty of time to pull itself together.
Wand in her hand, shrunk cages dangling from her elbow and soft blonde hair in an efficient ponytail, Bambi firmly refused to get lost in memories as she followed her department head into Hogwart's central dining area. And blinked, because it looked really strange with only two tables standing at least Ravenclaw was still there. As an aside, she'd just like to point out she was personally offended that the villains at Hogwarts were small, fluffy, cute pink creatures. Honestly. What a betrayal of trust in all things cute.
Did someone say towers? That's her place. She'll go there. "Bambi Ackerly, Accidents and Catastrophes," she introduced herself to the woman heading the team going up to the towers (Kassandra) and the other professor there. "I'll join you in the sweep up at the towers." She then turned to her Eliora with a questioning tilt of her head, quickly making sure this was okay.

Joshua arrived to the great hall a bit later then he had intended, and quickly took in the peculiar scene before him. Two tables missing? From the moment she stepped into the Great Hall, much had happened. The first year Hufflepuff pleading he didn't do anything - as was Lucas - and Kaysha saying she saw nothing. And then wait, was the Hufflepuff House table gone now??? And what was Alice saying??? Maybe she hadn't said something about harming them but she certainly implied something and honestly, Amelia was DONE with it. Her husband dealt with magical creatures; sure it was more dragons but she was could appreciate creatures and didn't not want to see them caged up. Or harmed.
But then Ministry officials were here and the Headmaster and things were said about searching the castle... Nothing about the grounds though, until Joshua spoke up.
Looking at Joshua and then the Headmaster, "I can scour the grounds as well," Amelia noted, because last thing she wanted was one of these creatures damaging the pitch. No, that was NOT needed today. Could they leave then? How many of these fluffy things were there exactly???

She hadn't been planning on having breakfast in the Great Hall that particular morning, instead opting to have the house-elves deliver some smoked salmon and avocado eggs benedict to her office instead. Was there such thing as some peace and quiet at Hogwarts however? Apparently not, because upon delivering her breakfast, the house elf had alerted her to the goings on in the Great Hall and Joyce arrived just in time to hear the Headmaster arranging search parties.
And..... were those Ministry officials? And cages?
About time.
"I'll take the grounds," she said, not bothering to announce her presence with any sort of greeting but instead with her commanding words. "And let's not dilly dally." She wanted these creatures gone.

Kalen looked at the people of the ministry as they filed in with little cages. Hopefully that would be helpful in catching these monstrous and way too adorable creatures. He looked up at Headmaster Trent as he said that he would be in charge of a group.
Uhhh.. was he sure? Cause knowing his track record at this school, no one would join his group, cause let’s face it.. he wasn’t well liked. One person liked him he knew for sure, but Kalen didn’t even know where that person was as his full attention was on Malachi.
He was about to open his mouth to suggest someone else, someone whom people liked and would actually follow, like Amelia or Joshua, when he heard Alice speak up and he turned his green eyes towards his fellow professor.
“You May come with me, but remember we are capturing the creatures and no harm will come to them hmmm?” He said before he heard someone else pipe up to join him as well.
Consider him shocked.

Out of all the ways to start off a morning, eh? He gave Eliora an amused sort of look, "Let's hope not." Not only would that be absolutely unsanitary, but it was disgusting and something he wouldn't put past the children here.
It was not a moment later when a strange shriek was heard that James had whipped out his wand. They weren't told much about these creatures, but from what he understood... No risks would be taken. Not when a Professor had been eaten. Yikes. Couldn't have happened a decade ago when they needed some staff exterminated? It was really such a shame. A missed opportunity, if you will.

James assumed the man speaking was the one in charge. He nodded along in agreement, while splitting up never sounded like the best plan of action... They needed immediacy here. That was one element they could control. And with a castle of this size? It was the best way to cover ground, surely.
The Department Head didn't wait for the Headmaster to finish before he began distributing the cages to those standing around. Nodding at his employees to do the same. He saved one for himself before taking a sidestep towards Malachi. "These cages should be sufficient to hold and contain... But caution should be used all the same." They all knew what these pink fluffy things were capable of, after all.
As for his search team? He'd head to the lower floors with Kalen, yes?

Ah, the Headmaster. Welll.... if this wasn't an emergency, she'd have been leaning against a wall and watching him walk away for sure. Was she at least able rate him? One point for short public speaking. Another point for facial structure. Minus point for working with kids. Plus point for not letting any of said kids die yet. Another point for facial structure. What was she on..? Four? Three? Hm. That was for review later. As was her final verdict on James Draper.
.... and maybe a write up on her questions about Draper's drapes and curtains. Maybe. Would that make him squirm if she asked him about it? She knew that she would make Airey Flamsteed squirm if she made any sort of steed joke around him. Soooooo....
ANYHOOOO. Back to the task at hand! She spared a glance for Ursula, Megan and Bambi and just nodded. Did they really need her approval or permission to do these things? This was why they were here, was it not? Goodness.. was she like their mother or something now? Get. On. With. It. Man, she really needed coffee now. "How are the affected students, Headmaster?" You know.. were they resembling handcuff fluff? Because LOL.
Eliora decided that it was best for she and James to split up around the castle, too. Separate the brains of this operation sorry Hotmaster and go in different directions. They could grab a coffee later or tomorrow and the day after that. GASP. Maybe he could be her new work husband! Rusty just wasn't cutting it when his real wife worked at the Ministry too. "I'll go with Kassandra." She gave a quick warning look at the rest of her employees though. If any of them asked for permission now... she was going to have words with them later. Unkind ones.

To be back in his stomping grounds... Hogwarts. The first and only love of his life. Well... if you discounted food, salsa dancing, his grandma, bingo, animals and women's sports teams.
Theophilus was rrrrready and rrrrrrrrrrreARING to go. He may have even had an extra special spring in his step to control these pests as it really and truly WAS his job role. Pest control? Duh. "DUNGEON BUDDIES!" His voice was loud as he headed over to those that had said they were heading that way.
"Don't rely on your cages. Just because they're cute doesn't mean they won't eat another one of you up!" And he could not promise to successfully help them out of that situation.

It happened so suddenly Maxie could almost believe he dreamed it up. An attack- there were no other words for it -on the hufflepuff table had begun only to end barely a minute later.
The Pink wave of gnashing little teeth and furry fury had ascended almost as soon as it had descended and Maxie had never been less happy to be proven right innocent. Pale as a sheet was an understatement, Maxie was positively green with fear. He'd jumped back before, and landed hard on his bottom and despite the Headmaster, the professors and the Ministry officials he was still sat motionless on the ground.
"W-w-wha.... " his lungs were shaking- actually, wait- he was shaking, all over and inside out. He'd been about to sit at that table...
He'd been...
He could have been....
A silent scream was bubbling up from his gut, never to be heard but very much felt.
The Hufflepuff stared blankly at the spot where the table had been, ignoring everyone around him - even Lukast and Aaron - in favor of being a complete and utter emotional and mental mess.
"WHAT." the word echoed through the hall. loud enough to reach space.

Being told three times the same command was definitely annoying to the history of magic professor, but she wasn't going to complain in front of everyone. It wouldn't be fair to take out her anger on Kalen, when it was really Tristan and Malachi she was mad at. "I understand," she replied in a deflated tone. "I won't harm the unruly ratfaces." Much as she might want to.
She took the cage that the ministry man (James) gave her. She clutched it gently to her stomach. "Thank you, sir. How am I supposed to put them inside??" Without harming the little ratfaces, that is. Since everyone seemed to be obsessed with protecting them from her.

He was back at Hogwarts, in all of his glory as an official obliviator to... capture... creatures. Not exactly what he signed up for. Not really the glory he was trying to show off either. Maybe glory would come out of this anyway. Maybe-
..... Hold all Granians. Was that the headmaster? Forget the glory, Dieter would happily take this man instead. Sorry Rusty, Headmaster Hottie had his attention for the time. But we still love you too.
Carefully shifting closer as he spoke of search parties and... Well, he'd really only heard the bit about search parties, Dieter's full attention was on the man. "Headmaster, is it?" His grip shifted on the cage he'd brought in with him, moving it from one hand to the other. "I'll join you." Where were they even going? Ennis was very much ready to get down to business. His stone cold expression was firmly in place, not that it ever truly wavered. Eyes studying his surroundings, he'd never been here so it was required, he took another step into the hall. Tables were missing. There was wood chips and scraps on the floor. Interesting.
A new species of sorts? But created from what? His mind turned as his eyes fell back on the discussion happening behind him. Search parties. Smart. To him, it made the most sense to sweep the top of the school and work their way down, meet in the middle and continue on. So that's what he'd decided.
He lifted the cage to his shoulder, moving toward those who seemed to be heading upstairs. Kassandra. She was leading. He waited for her to make herself known before making steps toward her. But then... something (Maxie)... was yelling. At least it wasn't his kid. Actually... "Where are these... small ones... going?" Surely they weren't joining the search, were they?

Malachi nodded along to the volunteers who offered to come with him. It was a sizable group, they would surely be able to get things done. He accepted one of the cages, turning it over in his hands and examining it while others made it clear who they would be accompanying.
"Of course, thank you." He said to the professors who'd offered to take the grounds. He wouldn't have thought it was necessary...but then he remembered the missing abraxan. There was a good chance there was a few of them out there. Finding them needed to be a priority.
"The affected are...furry." He replied to Eliora, lowering the cage to his side and doing a quick weigh of it. "But so far nothing too severe. An itch, fur, the tendency to gnaw on things that have no business in someone's mouth but not knocking at death's door." So he wasn't entirely worried, concerned but not worried. Samples had been sent out, the Headmaster was optimistic there would be a cure.
The words of caution by the ministry employees were well received. He had his own to give. "From what I've heard from a few of the students, these creatures seem keen to accept affection. The Head Boy had no issues coaxing one into his hands earlier in the term and by all accounts, it had been keen enough for attention at the feast, too. We'll use this to our advantage. It's something to keep in mind. Excessive force doesn't appear to be necessary but I'll ask everyone to remain cautious all the same."
So to answer O'hara's question. "We'll coax them into the cages."
And if there were no more questions, it was time to go. "Let's get moving, team." They had a lot of ground to cover.

Clearly some of the students needed to be escorted back to their Common Room. Kaysha put a reassuring hand on the young Hufflepuff after his understandable outburst. Really, there was bound to be some kiddos that feared those creatures. "To your Common Room, Mr. Anderson-Belfort. The situation will be handled.'' In other words, not to worry. "We can stop at the Kitchen to get you something if you're still hungry.'' Cue a look at Lucas.
Kay gave the huge group a glance as they began to split up in various directions before making her way out of the Hall. It was her hope that the creatures could be caught today.

Looking better the staff he looked at Wishart and nodded at him. "I'll go search the grounds with you, the more help you have the better chances we have at finding them." he said. Should they split up and take section of the grounds? He thought that would be the best option, but that was his opinion on the matter he was just here to clean up this mess. Ugh... he wasn't a morning person, he needed like five cups of coffee just to wake up and function, what a day today was going to be for sure.
"I think we should split up, cover more grounds that way." he said handing Wishart a cage. "As Draper said, these cages should hold and contain them but you know caution should be taken." he said knowing that he didn't have to explain things to him. Cages? Check. search party groups? Check and check. To the grounds the shall go and get these little furry balls of troublemakers. Bryson didn't want to wait anymore time, he was on a mission to get this done.

She claimed a couple of the cages for their search party and paid close attention to what had been said. No excessive force necessary.... easily coaxed with offers of affection..... right. Well, it was time they had at it then.
"Everyone volunteering out on the grounds, please follow me." She said loudly and clearly. And yes, that included Professors Wishart and Adara who would be knowledgable in the areas by the greenhouses and quidditch pitch respectively. Her own knowledge of the grounds wasn't exactly flawless but one thing she did have was impeccable organisational skills and the area they needed to cover was a vast one, so.
She promptly led the group out of the Great Hall.

Kalen nodded at everyone who joined his search party, still mildly shocked that he had people joining him, but then again these were adults and not the students around this.. school.
He too grabbed a few cages and listened carefully to what the headmaster said. Coax them.. right.
Be kind and gentle to the things that ate Dopple. No big thing.
“All right, everyone follow me down to the dungeons and work our way up.” He said and the former Slytherin and currently snake head of house, headed down to start the search. | |

Welp. Well did Joyce Darlington really just swoop in here and 'take the grounds'? She supposed the woman's skills and expertise might be of use, so long as she didn't try and funny business. As Malachi explained the procedure for capturing them, Amelia got distracted as her gaze shifted over toward one of her Hufflepuff Chasers. OH NO HE WAS PETRIFIED. That was the worstttt way to leave someone and her own badger heart went out to him as she found herself approaching him after the Headmaster finished.

Speaking of grounds, their dubbed leader in the form of the Transfiguration Professor was leading them out of the way. She extended her hand out toward the first year to motion for him to come along, as she followed Joyce out.

Maxie looked from Professor Stewart to Professor Adara and back. He was not a fan of either plan- (@ ariana, see, i can spell) -the Common Room sounded wonderful and safe and home, but Professor Stewart was clearly missing a lot here. HOW WERE THEY SUPPOSED TO GO TO THE KITCHENS?? THEY'D BEEN EATEN (just like he'd nearly been, shout out to five seconds ago), was she clueless?? was she careless? did she not realize that this was no time for hunger? Maxie's sullen, paranoid thoughts filled up his head until he geniunely believed he'd be safer out there, looking for the very creatures he was terrified of.
Foolish and stubborn, Maxie raised his hand and practically leapt to Professor Adara's side. "I-I'll g-g-go w-with you." He muttered, forgetting completely of his things scattered across the Hall floor.
