Evaline noticed as his cheeks turn a shade of pink at her comment about relaxing. She watched him pleasently as he took a seat now and was breathing a little bit normal.

Evaline smiled as he tooka danish and she did the same leaning back in her comfortable chair. Nicholas would soon be in his own comfortable chair in no time. "Aren't they," she added and took a bite of her danish.

Before replying, she swallowed her bite so not to talk with her mouth full. It was rude and unlady like. "It's alright. I had those my first day here. Once you get settled you'll feel like this is a second home or close to it."

She smiled again and took another bite. This man was very interesting and Evaline was curious about him. She had never met anyone like him before. "Right I guess a little business before pleasure," she stated after swallowing another bite. "You know which division you are head of right?" she asked.

"Very", Nicholas agreed fervently, before taking the last bite of the danish, and grabbing another one. Allowing the flavor of it, fill the insides of his mouth, he swallowed slowly, and then replied, "Did you make these?", Nicholas inquired, as he pointed to the danishes, "Because if you did--you'd make and exceptional chef, let me tell you".

Nicholas sighed in relief when he heard Evaline's response, and allowed a friendly little smile to make an appearance. "I surely hope so!" Oooohh. If eventually he'd feel that this place was like a second home, does that meant that he would feel as comfortable here, reading his, er, books with colorful drawings --Aka comic books-- as he felt back at home, lying on his bed? Maybe not as comfortable, but comfortable enough, hopefully.

"I do", Nicholas answered, with what he hoped was a more serious/business-like tone of voice. "International Magical Cooperation, yes?"

Evalime smiled as she watched him take another danish. At least Nicholas was getting to be more relaxed. It was nice to see this. Evaline smirked and shook her head. "Alas I did not. I am not the greatest chef. I'm one for eating out and being waited upon." she added bashfully. How would she ever be a good wife if she couldn't cook.

Evaline grinned as she finally saw a smile appear on the boy's face. She was doing very nicely at relaxing the boy. It was very easy and simple just offer some food and be honest. "I'm sure it will. I just hope you actually go home every once in a while" she added playfully.

She nodded as he correctly answered her question about the department. "That is correct. I'm warning you. You normally have the most work. I hope your up for it," she commented with a wink. She knew he was but she liked joking around a bit. Please don't make him nervous.

Although Nicholas would never admit it, he felt a little dissapointed that Evaline hadn't cook the danishes. It was shame, really, for on his opinion, every woman should be able to cook. He did manage to hide this, and smile a little, "Oh, that's a shame, I was going to ask you the recipe", Nicholas said sheepishly, "But for what is worth, they are exceptionally good".

"Well, if this place ends up growing on me, I can't make you any promises about that", He teased witha grin, trying to wink the same way that he'd seen many boys do, back in school. He almost did it as good as them, but not quite; at least he was getting better at it. Sort of.

His face turned serious instantly, and his brown chocolate eyes looked bright with interest, while he tried to concentrate on what Evaline was saying.

Gulp. He shrunk on the chair a little bit.

Oh boy. She was expecting quite a lot from him. He was not afraid of the hard work, though; like the former Hufflepuff he was, Nicholas found it strangely enjoyable, because it kept him busy.

He didn't like it when it interfear with his video games time, food time, or when he was supposed to read his precious comic books, though.

"I think I am, and I'll do my best", He promised with a fervent nod, trying to sound serious. "I will not let you or the department down".

Hopefully, for Nicholas was clumsy-ness personified, and this little flaw tend to get on his way sometimes.

Evaline sook her head still smiling. She really did need to take a cooking class. Her being able to not cook was going to be a big disappointment one day. "Sorry no luck there," was all she could say to the recipe comment.

Evaline gave a lighthearted laugh and saw him try to do the wink. At least this boy had a sense of humor. "I wouldn't go on winking like that with other people. They may think something's going on," she added. Of course that would never be the case but hey maybe they could joke about it. Thinking about the comment, Evaline thought she may have found herself a new Lance. Maybe.

She noticed his facial expression turn serious again and she shook her head and leaned back in her chair still smiling. "I know you won't let me down. There is a reason I chose you," she replied.

Cheeks blushing hard and shrinking even deeper on his chair, Nicholas tried to flat unsuccessfully his wild curly brown hair, as he chuckled nervously and stammered the words, "You think so? I-I won't do it again, then". Bad Nicholas. He should've never tried try to wink to anyone. It wasn't his area of expertise.

So much for not wanting to make the fool of himself in front of his boss.

Perhaps he should just do what Paula told him; Spend more time with his cousin Benjamin. According to her, Benjamin was quite--popular with within the female population, and truth be told, some of Benjamin's luck could help him quite a lot.

The moment Evaline's answer was caught by Nicholas' ears, a sheepish smile spread across his lips. Heheh, it made him feel rather pleased with himself that someone -even if that person was still a stranger to him- thought that he was the right person for his job. He didn't even believe it himself, for Nicholas never saw himself as a leader or anything like that.

"You know, Evaline, I might be prying a little too much, but--what happened to the other Division head? the previous one, I mean?". His tone of voice was definitely not the gossip type. Nicholas had never been fond of gossip or rumours; he was just merely curious.

Evaline noticed Nicholas shrink into his chair more and blush after her winking comment. Ok so that was too much for only the second time meeting but she didn't know how he was going to react. There was a saying that no one got hurt from trying or something like that.

She heard Nicholas' question about the former Division head. She eyed him not knowing if he was prying but she felt he wasn't so she told him. "Well it was a sudden death. The doctor said she slipped on some suds and fell down the stairs." she replied and then added in a whisper, "I'm not totally sure if thats the full truth though."

Touching his earlobe absentmindedly, Nicholas listened to Evaline's response, as all the colour on his face slowly vanished. Gulp. The woman -for he was sure that the person had been a female, for Evaline had said 'she'- had died. And if that wasn't enough, Evaline seemed to think that there was something else behind the way that the former division head had passed away.

"What do you mean?", he asked seriously, yet he could feel that he was slowly starting to panic. What if her job on the Ministry had something to do with her death?

No one had told him that this job as division head included such risks.

As she was talking to Nicholas she noticed he had some weird habits when he was nervous. Like now he was touching his earlobe. Odd. She saw his reaction and she knew she had to clear this up right now that it wasn't because of her job. So she believed anyway.

"Oh well I think maybe that the suds story was a cover up for something else." she replied to his question and then added, "but if that is the case it because of something in her personal life and nothing with work. We have no secrets, well big ones anyway, here." This was true.

Nicholas could not help but to sigh in relief. If Evaline was being honest --and he was sure she was-- his new job was not dangerous. Which was good because dying at the short age of twenty six was definitely something that he was not looking forward to.

"Oh, I see", he replied thoughtfully. "Perhaps you right, Evaline. You can never know someone too well, you know?". This was true; sometimes things weren't as they look like. Sometimes they were the complete opposite of what they look like as a matter of fact.

And speaking of which, maybe it was time for him to take off. He had spent quite sometime speaking with Evaline, so it was best if he left now. He was bound to have a lot of work to do. Nicholas was no slacker; he may look like one, but that was not the case with him, and the last thing he wanted was Evaline to think that of him.

"Well, I better go now. I'm quite sure that I have some catching up to do with my division, and I'm also sure that you are a busy woman, so I won't distract you any longer", Nicholas said with a kind smile. "It was quite nice to talk to you again, Evaline". And with that, and a polite nod, he stood up and left the office, and made his way to his division feeling excited and nervous.

After a little while Evaline was doing some last minute paper work before she left on her trip in a week. As she was writing some notes down she heard a knock on her door. "Come in," she replied.

Taken aback, as the person she now knew of as J.J., she looked at him curiously. "First off. I go by Miss Bass please and second what do you need to know my department?" she asked still politely although she didn't like him calling her by her first name. That was a little uncalled for and unproffesional.

Evaline looked at the boy, obviously he wasn't a top person in his division. "Well J.J. There isn't a lot I can do since it really isn't my divisions type of problem. Department of Education should handle that stuff," she added politely.

Starr told him."I work in the Ninistry of Education and of course I asked Miss Rose to help me but she said her hands were tied" Joe Jon Montceanaggio told her. "I figured if we could get international co-operation to help us since they might have a say when it comes to illegal things done at HogWarts" J. J. Starr told her.

Evaline blinked at the boy surprised and then scowled at him. "First off, I never said you were a boy Mr. Star." she said getting impatient and testy. "Secondly, I'm sorry to hear your boss is busy, but so am I. Your complaint or wishes or what ever will have to wait until she is cleared up. I am sorry." she replied now for sure this conversation was over cause she did not want to be talked to like she was 5.

Getting up she walked over to the door and opened it."Now will you please leave cause I have some work that needs to be done and I don't want to lose my temper over some man being unjustly rude." He could leave now and hopefully not come back.

Evaline stepped out of her office with her key and a piece of paper in hand. She turned around after closing the door and locked it, and then stuffed the key in her pocket. Sh then taped the note she had typed up on her door.

And with that, she took off on her month long trip.

And she was back just like that. Her 4 weeks out in the US went by so fast and now she had to get back into her daily routine and back to the big conference ahead. She hoped her division heads and employees were living up to her standard and fufilling their jobs.
She knew they were, but you have to have a little bit of doubt.

She opened her office and stepped in. She noticed that dust had settled everywhere and she definitely needed to clean that. She walked over to her desk and sat in her swivel chair and swung around. It was good to be back.
