SPOILER!!: Javi! <3

What on EARTH had been the motivation for the Minister to do all that again? Had they ever gotten that sorted out? Not that it really mattered to him, because regardless of his motive, he had still DONE it.

"What's Zumba?" he asked when a break finally presented itself. Whatever it was, it didn't exactly sound like his cup of tea. Working out in general didn't really interest him. He'd been blessed with good metabolism apparently and could eat an entire party sub and still not gain an ounce of weight. He was lucky like that.

OH WHOA, THEY GOT THE QUIDDITCH CUP BID?! Javi's mouth fell open in surprise. He wasn't huge on sports - he'd always liked to watch rather than participate, and even then it could be incredibly boring at times - but this was HUGE! The last time they'd had a World Cup had been...he couldn't even remember! "That's brilliant!" he exclaimed, showing a rare bit of emotion as he grinned in delight. And they got to PLAN it? YAAAAAAAS.

Amidst all the excitement about securing the World Cup, it took Lucas a moment to realise that there had been a question asked by Javi. It was one that Lucas knew the answer to. "It's a sort of dance,'' he began explaining. "It's aerobics with dance movements. Latin American dance moves mainly, if I recall correctly.'' At this point, the man looked around at his coworkers for contradiction or agreement. He himself had never done the thing; his knowledge came from reading a bit on the topic and watching a few videos.

Bazinga 12-17-2018 02:26 AM

Victoria's smile formed to more amusement to Javi's question. She really couldn't help but visualize him participating in this and that was comical to her. She wouldn't state this opinion, but he hoped he would sign up. Since Lucas explained it pretty well she just nodded and moved on.

"Yes, we will have so much planning to do for the upcoming year. From PR to the actual cup day, but first, let's keep focus on the wellness and move from there. Please if you have been assigned to speak to other departments do that in the next few weeks and let me know once you have." She was glad to get the ball rolling with their wellness plan.

"Unless anyone has anything else you are dismissed."

Sangeetha 12-17-2018 05:42 PM

Laila nodded as Victoria spoke, underlining her notes absent mindedly as she listened to Victoria. Yes Ms Culloden,' she said

emjay 12-20-2018 12:01 AM

Milo wasn't so much a Quidditch guy. Of course Gobstones were his thing having been a professional player for more than several years before becoming the Gobstones division manager here. But even he had to admit that hosting the Quidditch cup was incredibly exciting. And he was sure that the Gobstones division would do what they could to help, if it came to that. It was a rather large event, so he would expect the entire department was needed.

And he really didn't have anything else to add so he welcomed the dismissal. Closing up his notes, Milo gathered his things before rising from his seat. "I have a few things to take care of, so have a great day everyone." Even though he would still see several of them in the office later. "Great news about the cup," he nodded towards Victoria on his way out of the conference room.

Sangeetha 12-20-2018 07:31 AM

Laila got up from her seat and picked up all her notes, folded them neatly and put them in the navy blue folder she was carrying. She smiled at everyone. 'Good day , guys!Great to meet y'all,' she said as she took her folder in her arms and walked to the exit door.

Nordic Witch 12-20-2018 05:49 PM

Jacob was exstatic! That they had won the bid to host the next Quidditch World Cup was fantastic news. He was not assigned to work in that division right now but he would of course offer assistance if needed later on since i'd be a large event. His job was with Gobstones. Speaking of working Jacob turned to look at West. "Should we meet for lunch later West and decide when we go see the minister and senior secretary about the food court? Do you think we need to ask for an appointment ahead of time?" Minister Hollingberry was a very busy man after all.

When the meeting was adjourned Jacob rose with the others, gathered up his things and smiled at Victoria on his way out. "Wonderful news about the Quidditch Cup! It will be memorable."

FearlessLeader19 12-21-2018 01:14 AM

Right then.

Lucas had nothing to add but he was already bracing himself for all the things that needed to be completed. Between the wellness plan and the Quidditch World Cup, he was going to be very, very busy. Heck, this was going to be a busy year. He made some final notes then stood up. "See you all around,'' he told the room in general. "I've got lots to do too but anyone is free to let me know if they have any questions regarding the fitness exercise or the World Cup.''

With that, Lucas headed out of the room to his desk situated in the work areas.

After World Cup Meeting

Victoria was upset, she was more than upset, she wanted answers. She knew her team wouldn't have done this, no, no one could have been an inside job, but yet the press was trying to spin it that way, her own friend was questioning her.

Journalist!

No matter who they are they didn't change when it came to finding a story. She headed into the conference room after she announced the emergency meeting and she expected others to be there. She had questions and she was going to get answers. All she hoped it was the answers she thought and she wouldn't be finding something out that she could not believe from her employees.

Taking a seat in her usual place she looked at her watch.

FearlessLeader19 05-03-2019 10:56 PM

Great Scott!

An emergency meeting? It had been a while since they had had one of those. Sure, there had been frequent and ordinary meetings leading up to the World Cup but that event was behind them now. So what could this meeting be about? Lucas, working on finishing up on some post- World Cup paperwork, didn't even bother completing the task at that moment. He just hurried to the conference room.

"Vic,'' the Quidditch Division Head said questioningly. He knew better than to ask what the issue was as they needed to wait for the other Level seven employees to show up. Still rather curious, and sightly ill at ease, he too sat.

Lissy Longbottom 05-04-2019 01:10 AM

Let's be honest. Javier is a very...oblivious individual.

He had NO idea what was going on, and why this meeting had to go down so quickly. The cup had literally JUST ended a few days ago. Had something happened? Javier had been in his own little world, mostly hanging around his designated station during the World Cup, not doing much of anything else. He hadn't even gotten tickets to the match because he had no interest in it.

He'd been at the souvenir stands, making sure no one tried to pawn off any illegal merchandise. It was one of the easiest ways to incorporate his division in to some kind of job for the cup, and he'd been happy to oblige in that way. It was more interesting to him than the game.

"Victoria, Lucas," he said, nodding at each of them in turn as he sat down. Why did Victoria look so tense?

Oh Merlin. Someone had died hadn't they?

Jean Granger 05-04-2019 06:20 AM

Autumn heard about the emergency meeting as soon as she returned to the office from a Gobstones assignment. Ah, an excuse to procrastinate - how delightful! She could begin the boring summary report after the meeting... after a short break... possibly even the next day. It was not as important as attending a department-wide meeting. But in all seriousness, she was slightly concerned about the emergency meeting. Emergency connoted danger. Did something go wrong in the Quidditch World Cup?

"'Morning," the woman greeted her department head and coworkers already present in the room with a small nod, then took a seat at the table.

Nordic Witch 05-04-2019 11:56 AM

Flaming bludgers, what now?

Jacob had just gotten into the office sweaty and irritated after going up with the early sun to solve a gobstones league matter that he'd rather forget and quickly too when a emergency meeting was called. He stopped in the men's room to clean his appearance up as best he could before he walked over and into the conference room. Emergency meeting meant trouble and that could never be good.

He noted first that their boss Victoria was there along with Lucas, Javier and Autumn but no Milo or Foster as of yet. Murmuring a quiet "Good morning everyone!" Jacob slid down in the seat next to Autumn curiously wondering what was wrong. It had to do with the Quidditch World Cup that had ended though he guessed.

emjay 05-04-2019 07:26 PM

Milo had no idea what this emergency department was about but he headed into the conference room anyway as soon as he took care of the last matter that crossed his desk. Now that the gobstones season was quickly coming to an end, he and his division had plenty of loose ends to tie up and manage. He didn't think the meeting had anything to do with gobstones as he hadn't been aware of any serious issues, but he was curious to find out.

He nodded a greeting to those present and found himself a seat as he waited for the meeting to start. The sooner it started, the sooner it would be over with and the sooner he could get back to finishing up his work.

Bazinga 05-05-2019 01:46 AM

Her usual happy self was not the Victoria they found as they walked in. There was a very serious feel to the vibe in the room and as she sipped her coffee and watched her employees come in she just nodded instead of her usual small talk.

"Let's get down to business, MLE will be coming around to speak to employees, they will most likely be poking around the department as well. With the rogue bludger that happened during the game, everything is under investigation. What I'd like to do here at this meeting is find out exactly who all helped with the equipment. I know usually I would just look to one area, but we all pitched in and helped with everything so I need to know exactly who was around what during our preparing. "

She opened her notebook that she had a list, she wanted to check it with her staff to make sure it was correct. "and no I don't believe anyone here did anything, it's just procedure and I'd like to get it over with so we can get moving on with the regular season and the end of the Gobstone season, instead of focusing on this." She had great success with this cup and she wasn't going to allow this problem affect her department's reputation.

siriusblackliveson 05-05-2019 10:30 AM

Nathaniel has slipped into the meeting right before Victoria had started it. He felt absolutely terrible, he was still in his joggers from his morning run. He slipped into the room nodding at people here and there as he finally took his seat.

Just as his fanny hit the chair she began the meeting. He couldn’t believe the rouge blusher either. And he had a field day trying to keep that out of the press so that one day in the hopefully near future they could host some event again. He did not want them to lose that privilege. He was not thrilled at all about having to talk to the MLE but he supposed he’s have to do what he had to do to make sure that this office was cleared.

Lissy Longbottom 05-07-2019 04:14 AM

Whoa, wait, there had been a rogue bludger? Maybe Javi SHOULD have gone to the match, because that honestly sounded intriguing. Still, he knew this was a serious matter. Someone could have gotten hurt! Thankfully for Javier, the inspection of the sports equipment didn't fall under his jurisdiction. He was in the clear.

He simply nodded as Victoria spoke. Someone was in troubleeeeee but thankfully, it wasn't him.

The serious vibe that set over the meeting as Victoria got it started was explained by the news that MLE was coming around to investigate because of the rogue bludger at the championship match. Straightening in his seat Jacob supplied after Victoria had finished reassuring them that this was all procedure. "I did not help with any match day equipment boss. I pitched in with more media stuff like posters, match tickets and the like." Jacob wasn’t a part of the Quidditch division. He was in Gobstones. He didn’t want to be in the shoes of the person that had been handling the equipment right now, whomever that was? Looking around the room Jacob assumed that that fell under someone in the Quidditch divisions jobs. He needed to make a report about the loose end from the gobstones season that he had solved this morning and brief Milo.

emjay 05-08-2019 02:09 PM

Rogue bludger, what?Yes, Milo had gone to the game, but he hadn't paid all that much attention to it, not being much of a Quidditch fan. It was more the excitement of England hosting the World Cup. Everyone was there. But he had no idea there was anything really off.... oh, was that when they paused the game momentarily? It was so smooth, he had hardly noticed.

"Are they so sure it was an intentional tampering?" Milo asked when Vic mentioned that MLE would be questioning them. Certainly no one here would do something like that. "Anyway, I didn't have anything to do with equipment for the match." That's what she was asking, so that's what he answered. It wasn't his area of expertise so he opted to help out with less technical details.

Bazinga 05-08-2019 05:26 PM

She was looking straight towards Javvy for an answer since his division did test out all equipment and got all the shipments for every sport they had. She knew that more of the level helped, but most of his area would have been near the equipment so the possibilities were pointing that way.

When he didn't answer she turned her attention to the ones that were, "Alright, good to know." Checking off the names she looked to Milo, "They aren't sure at all, that is why they are questioning everyone at this point. I know there were just a few other issues that had happened that day, so I am hoping one of those leads to who got the bludger through our security."

She was not happy and this was her time to take in all their success of the cup, not a scandal that could make them all look back and get England banned from hosting another cup.

Lissy Longbottom 05-09-2019 02:45 AM

Um, WHY was she looking at him like that? Javier felt his cheeks heating up. He felt like she was trying to stare through his soul, and it was completely unnecessary. Javier's office had only been involved in the beginnings of the process - more of their time had been spent making sure no rogue souvenirs had gotten in that would blow people's faces up if they bought it.

"Ludicrous Patents had all equipment pass inspect weeks ago. The final equipment was sent to the Quidditch Regulations division for them to select the final ones that would be used in the actual match," he explained. She remembered that bit, yes? "None of the bludgers, or the snitches and quaffles, for that matter, failed the tests we put them through. They all passed with flying colors. The final selection wasn't made until closer to the match - or even the day of, if I recall," he told her. Was he sort of throwing the other divison under the bus? Maybe. But everything had been good on their end - if they'd slipped and let some psycho put a rogue bludger in there after the fact, he had nothing to do with it.

"The rest of the time at the actual cup itself was monitoring souvenirs to assure no dangerous magical items were being sold or counterfeited," he added.

Jean Granger 05-09-2019 03:18 PM

Ah, the rogue bludger. Autumn remembered the alarming incident during the championship match between England and India. Which, aside from the bludger disruption, was an excellent game. It was her first time watching a Quidditch World Cup match up close - seeing all the famous national players and being surrounded by people who were just as passionate about Quidditch as she was... it was an amazing experience that she would never forget.

Anyway, back to the very serious issue at hand. She personally had no reason to be worried or frightened, since she had nothing to do with the preparation of the equipment. "I helped with contacting healers and sponsors," she explained, not going into detail since as Javier said, the Ludicrous Patents and Quidditch divisions dealt with the equipment, not Gobstones. She was however, concerned about whether their department will face difficult issues in the future. They already had overenthusiastic sports fans writing to them to criticise how they were managing the leagues, they did not need more hate mails flying in from different countries. There were also bigger problems - what if England was permanently banned from hosting a World Cup in the future? What if this led to diplomatic issues? Heck, all because of one rogue bludger!

FearlessLeader19 05-14-2019 12:24 AM

There they were, starting to assemble one by one. Lucas returned the greetings to Javier, Autumn, Jacob, and Milo even though technically he had seen and been in the company of some of them while working prior to the meeting. But that wasn’t really his focus as he was anxious for Vic to get started.

Ah.

The rogue bludger.

Lucas glanced around at all that gathered, wanting to see their expressions now that they had learnt that the Law Enforcement Department would be launching the investigation. As for him? He wasn’t surprised. It had been awful to watch, that bludger going repeatedly after some players. “I can assure you no one in the Quidditch Regulations Division had anything to do with the tampering,’’ the Quidditch Division Head spoke up. “Just as I am certain no one in the Department did. Javier is right. None of the final equipment showed any sign that something was off and after the selections were done. Any tampering had to have happened after our Department had done our parts.’’

Bazinga 05-15-2019 11:06 PM

She was certainly not surprised that most did not touch the items, but some in this department did and she would have to find the log if none of them were admitting it. She did write down what Javy said, "Can you find me the paperwork for those inspections, I want to check them over for dates. This will help us move this along and they can go find the true person that tampered with the match." That would mean leaving them alone.

She was getting too old for this.

Her attention going to Autumn she nodded as she stated what she helped with. This was going nowhere, but at least she didn't feel like any of them were hiding anything.

Glancing at Lucas she sighed, "As glad I am that no one here would do this, someone did and they did it on our watch. This was our event and we failed in some way not keeping this out of the match. We along with MLE need to figure out who and why so we don't get taken off the list of ever getting a chance to have a World Cup again."

She looked back at the papers she had and just stayed quiet for a moment. "I really have nothing else, so if all division heads could get me any logs for inspections you have I can at least hand those over." Unless they had anything else, she was done.

Nordic Witch 05-20-2019 09:56 AM

"need to figure out who and why so we don't get taken off the list of ever getting a chance to have a World Cup again."

Jacob sat silent as he reflected on Victoria’s serious words. She had a point. If they together with MLE couldn’t figure out who and why the bludger had been tampered with then maybe it would take a very long time before the quidditch world cup were to come back to England. The press wouldn’t slow down on the harsh words either. The prophet had already written an article just the other day that didn’t exactly paint the Games & Sports department in a favourable light as they hinted at an insider job, had questions about the muggle and pickpocket in the audience.

Folding his hands on the table in front of him Jacob wondered since he hadn’t been involved with equipment at all. It was not his job and he wanted to help puzzle this together since Victoria wasn’t happy. "Did we hire a company to take the match day equipment to the stadium? If we did shouldn’t the MLE be investigating them along with the muggle and pickpocket incidents?"

FearlessLeader19 05-22-2019 12:07 AM

Lucas nodded solemnly to Vic. “Sure. As soon as I get back to my desk, I’ll get them for you.’’ Luckily, he was an organised Division Head so it wouldn’t take him a long time to get those logs... even if he was distracted by the fact that Britain’s reputation was on the line for hosting the World Cup in the future. “Possibly not just for Quidditch but for other sporting events,’’ he said. The man hadn’t meant to sound negative but it was true. They needed to redeem themselves.

“Law Enforcement will have the Quidditch Division’s assistance as much as they require,’’ Lucas assured Vic. He knew he didn’t need to see to it as everyone would be willing to help. Hopefully MLE would be able to close this case as soon as possible.
