Default Work Areas

Department Map

The main work area is a large and open office with colour co-ordinated dividers and desk clusters providing some semblance of order to the chaos of having a whole department in one area. The room is now carpeted in grey throughout and gone are the several distracting rugs that used to sit above. Instead, there are boxes of cushions located near each cluster of desk for employees to use on their chairs should they find them uncomfortable. Some cushions have a picture of your department head, Eliora Dodderidge, on them but she expects them to be treated with respect or even hung on the walls should you so desire. When you walk in through the main doors coming from the reception and foyer, there is a waiting area to one side. If you have visitors they are welcome to sit here, or employees may take a coffee break in this corner. There are plenty of magazines provided, some of them are related to the work we do in the department, and others are personal favourites of Ms. Dodderidge – Achievement in Charming, Transfiguration Today, The Potioneer’s Gazette, The Daily Prophet, Witch Weekly and Teen Witch Weekly.

Directly to your left, you’ll find a table which forms the centre point for part of the Office of Misinformation, in particular the Obliviators and Reminisciators desks. These employees are in and out constantly, so it makes sense they have a nook close to the door doesn’t it? In front of you is a magical photocopier, running entirely on enchantments, and behind that you’ll find the rest of division one’s Office of Misinformation employees (Memory Restoration and Retrieval Bureau and Muggle Worthy Excuse Committee), along with the Invisibility Task Force of division three, tucked away in the corner where they can get some serious work and planning done without too much interruption.

In the far corner you’ll see those busy employees who make up the Spell Reversal Agency and Potion Accident Response Team of division two’s Accidental Magic Reversal Squad, if they happen to be in. They have the smallest desks since they spend just as much time outside of the office, in the lab or in the training room as they do at their desks, if not more.

Finally, tucked away around the corner from the inner corridor, right next to the conference room, you’ll find the members of the Experimental Charms Committee, both Research and Development and Spell Registry folk have plenty of desk space here since their work is as much about the planning as it is about the doing. They might be down the hall in the training and trial room, however, so be sure to head down that way if you’re looking for someone in particular and they don’t seem to be around. It is clear which of these desks once belonged to the current department head as she has left a framed photo of herself in it and also a pyramid tower of her favourite coffee mugs. You’ll do well to not touch, but to post a compliment in the compliment box she has left there. Be kind. She knows your handwriting.

The entire space flows well and is clearly well thought out regarding which divisions are located in proximity to one another, but it is also decorated with brightly coloured plants. There are plenty of protective charms in this work area, to ensure that the furniture won’t be damaged or spoiled by experiments and the like. Above your heads there is a steady flow of ministry interdepartmental memos, purple coloured paper airplanes darting here and there. If it’s for you it will land on your desk, so don’t bother trying to catch them, they’re much too high to simply pluck them out of the air.

To differentiate which part of the office you are in, put your division or area in the title section so that it’s easier to follow along and play with those you work alongside. Take a look at the map to get your bearings!

All level 3 employees have a desk here to work at (except the Department Head, she has a shrine to herself at her old one) and everyone is welcome to make their own RPs here. What’s your character up to? What are they investigating? There’s always work to be done, make something fun up and see who you can get involved! Your own dramas are welcome too, so feel free to work on personal plots and RPs in here, though be aware that Eliora is a gossip and although she may want to know everything that it happening.. she may scold your character for letting their personal life affect their work levels.

Other Ministry employees are welcome to come and play in here too! After all, Level 3 is perhaps the one department that has business with every other department in the British Ministry.

Eliora was bored. Or...she was pretending that she was bored so that someone could distract her from the pile of paperwork on her desk that she was avoiding. And also her assistant. That she was also avoiding. Eliora knew she needed to ask her a couple of questions about whatever...whatever the thing with Dalton was. Yes, she'd seen them at the orientation event. And honestly, she wanted the gossip. But she couldn't just ASK outright. Could she? Maybe over their morning coffee... Maybe they were just friends. Maybe they were like she and James and there was nothing more to it than friendship and some company.

Was there more to her and James? No, no. That wasn't the issue right now. The issue was that she didn't know if Guilia and Dalton were holding hands outside of work and if she was going to find them canoodling outside her office one day. A GIRL WOMAN NEEDED TO BE PREPARED FOR THAT.

She also needed coffee. Hm.

Five cups would do it.

Eliora used one of the coffee machines in the work areas before going to sit at what used to be her desk when she was at Maddox or Aron's beck and call. The desk she had decorated when receiving her promotion. The desk space covered in photos of her and some of her old favourite mugs. Oh look! There was her 'Mrs. Maddox Quigley' mug! Oh... the mems.

Letícia wasn't sure she would miss teaching bored eighteen year olds who hated their 8am Monday morning class and so far -- well, so far she definitely didn't miss it. She had plans of what she wanted to work on first, of course, but not highly-structured, supervisor-approved, year-long teaching plans that would eventually impact someone's future. Plus, it involved absolutely no exam marking. All in all, this new ministerial job was turning out to be great.

So what if it hadn't even been a week?

Making her way back to her workspace from the training room, she mumbled away to herself in Portuguese. That could always point someone out as weird but voicing notes to herself before actually writing them down on her notepad always worked for her, so she's sticking to it. Even if her new boss happens to be around. With a small smile playing on her lips, the Brazilian woman took a seat at her desk, quill at the ready to write down the results of that particular experiment (too much impact, she was looking for a gust of wind, not a tropical storm). "That desk is very dictator-propaganda of you. I like it." Honestly, tiny eccentricities just made everything better.

Briefly, Eliora closed her eyes and began to drink her coffee. Was it egotistical to feel completely at peace in an area that was dedicated to herself? That she had dedicated to herself? Ah, who cared. The point was, that with coffee in hand (and the smell in the air) and a framed photograph of herself looking back at her... Eliora was at home. The same feeling she expected her employees to feel when they sat here and looked at her face and felt her presence. Home. Peace. Happiness.

Sliding one coffee cup onto the desk, Eliora scooped up another of those that was hovering in the air above and behind her and started to drink from it.

The comment that Letícia made left a smile on her face as she looked towards the other woman. "It was mine for almost ten years. It's staying mine. Besides, I know this lot miss having me in here." Hence the pillows dotting around the place with her face on.

"How are you getting on? This lot being good to you?"
