Gid stepped into the classroom and had his folders for each person he was hoping would attend and set them out before brewing the coffee. He was a little early but was hoping the training would go well and he'd have a few new aurors move up from Junior Auror to full fledged. If they were ready, right after the new year they'd have their testing and given their badges. The others would have at least completed a few trainings towards their goals.

Sure Simon had already completed his Common Wizarding Law training long ago, not to mention the degree that covered it well. But there was nothing like a refresher course every now and then. Not to mention he had to lead by example, hoping some of his security division would choose to join him in whatever was to come from the mind of the department head. And he could always help the ones still learning their way.

He stepped inside the classroom shortly before the appropriate time, taking in the classroom setting he was greeted with. “Good day” he greeted Gid, noticing the department head was the only one there. But then he was a little early himself. "Can't wait to see what you have planned."

It had taken her two goes to pass the Wizarding Law Module and earn her badge. Alexa remembered well the day she was invited for a drink by Emily--and really she should have seen SOMETHING coming because when did Emily randomly decide to have lunch with one of her YATIs? Failed the Law Module and the pysch eval; what a way to start her career as an Auror. More accurately put, what a way to prolong her time as a YATI.

So WHY put herself through this a third time? Clearly, she'd buckled down and managed to pass the module the second go around, making this training utterly unnecessary but...who said she was here to learn ANYTHING about wizarding law? Years in the field had taught her enough and reinforced what she'd already learned twice. The Auror was here today to make herself look good for the boss. Lex would never turn down an opportunity to do such a thing--just look at what happened when Rainey took over the Department. She'd been gung-ho for literally every questionable idea he put forward.

Besides that, her and Bellaire's case had gone somewhat cold again and this beat sitting over at her desk, willing something to jump up at her from the files.

"Morning Gid, hey Simon." Lex greeted, her gait casual as she entered the classroom. Unlike her co-worker, she couldn't much say she was looking forward to whatever means wizarding law would be drilled into them today. Theory bored her to death. Reading through this stuff the first time was torture enough. "You mind pouring me a cup?" Y'know, since the boss man was already by the coffee and all.

Gid was pouring himself a cup when Simon entered and smiled at him in greeting "Hello" he said brightly before taking a drink of his coffee. "I think it'll be helpful and I'm really looking forward to getting these trainings going." He knew a lot of people might find them tedious but hey it was a good thing to refresh themselves on either way! Looking up as Alexa appeared he greeted her as well "Good morning, I sure can." he moved to pour her a cup as well before passing it her way "How are the both of you?" he asked honestly.

OOC: We'll get started in about 6-7 hours or so, no matter how many have joined. There may be more coming from other departments!

Schedule permitting, Ivy made it her job to attend as many trainings as possible. Her father still had qualms about her abandoning the family's private security company for a job at the ministry, and she was determined to prove him wrong at all costs. She would pave her own way, it had been decided since she'd graduated school.

Slipping into the classroom, the security officer smiled at those already in attendance. "Morning. That coffee smells heavenly." Honest, it did. She'd be securing herself a cupful before they got started.

Dropping Emma off at the daycare today had been surprisingly swift, and Benzi walked into the classroom early for a change. Eyes sweeping over the people present, he wondered if Evie would show today before making his way over to his Deparmtent Head and that wonderful magical substance called coffee.

"Morning Gid," he smiled, as polite and as courteous as ever, making his way round and greeting everyone present with a nod of his head, Simon whom he remembered from before and the other woman he'd met during his current stint as YATI. Cambridge got a slightly wider grin and a casual salute.

Let's get this started, yes?

She hoped to see at least one or two Transpo faces here, because she thought this was pretty important, but as she made her way inside, Lynley saw none.

Actually, she was the only non MLE person in here thus far.

Well then.

Coffee in hand, she saw lots of younger MLE'ers, that security guard she didn't much like, and Alexa. Her choice of person to stand next to? Alexa, of course. "Good day to you all," she nodded as she made her way over to the auror. "Hello, Gid," she said with a nod in his direction and a sip of her coffee. Her hair was pulled back into a tight bun, and she had dark circles under her eyes. She was getting over a rather unfortunate cold. -__- And her sniffles told as much.

Plus, Wyatt had not been happy about being left at the daycare today since she had been off yesterday and spent the entire day with him...it had thrown off his little schedule. Poor guy.

"It tastes heavenly too." Lex confirmed, as they were joined by yet another co-worker. One that was over in Security. They got to deal with all the Ministry crazies which....happened a lot she was starting to find out. It was like Hogwarts, only people miraculously never died--and for the most part it was just crazies, not danger. Not enough to convince her it was a viable option. "Have some, bet Gid wouldn't mind pouring you a cup too." Casually volunteering her boss. It wasn't like the man wasn't willing.

"I'm doing surprisingly alright for an Auror whose case has gone warm." She said, now replying to the man who might now have become the designated coffee pourer. Not cold. She would never admit it was cold, not aloud anyway. "Think I've finally worked Emmerson into a routine that gets me here faster." Which was always a good thing. Lex liked being here as soon as she could be. For a while, it was harder and damn near impossible but now she was back on track and it felt amazing.

Speaking of...."Looks like I beat you to the Daycare today." Benzi's grinned was returned with one of her own. Of course, there was no real competition. Merlin, no, just a joke. 'Sides, he had like three months on her, it'd have hardly been fair. "Means you owe me lunch."

Ann how did she NOT know Lynnie would be here...oh wait, or that she was sick. "You look like death, or someone death paid a visit earlier but you were too stubborn to go." Which was pretty much 'hello'. "Did you pick something up from the germ magnet?" And could she....not pass it on....? That'd be GREAT.

Sooo Common Wizarding Law sounded like the most boring thing ever, but Gabby knew that it was important to know this stuff. That, and Lynley surely would be pleased if her employees took part in this kind of thing. Look at her being worker of the year by attending even though she would want to be put out of her misery before the session was over.

"Hello, everyone!" Look at her being so polite.

Spotting her boss/best friend, she made a beeline towards her and Lex. Hopefully she wasn't contagious anymore because yeah... She did not wanting her babies to get sick. "Surprised to see me here?" she said while figuring that Lynley wouldn't be at all since she knew how diligent Gabby was. "How's it going, Lex?" Would they be starting soon? Because she wanted to get this over with.

After dropping off a really fussy toddler in the daycare, Penelope took a few moments to relax as she took the lift up to level 2, sipping the coffee she'd picked up on her way here. Merlin, when Ivy didn't sleep well, she let everyone know it, and she was always in a horrible mood about it. Understandable, of course, but it always set Penelope on edge that day too. So stressful.

And it was terrible day for it since the Wizarding Law training class was today. Gonna be a loooong day, she could feel it.

"Morning," she said as a general greeting as she entered the room. Seemed everyone was already chatting amongst themselves, which was okay with Penelope - she'd just be over here, hoping the coffee would wake her up before the training started. Merlin knew she didn't want to fall asleep, since Wizarding Law theory was guaranteed to be a snoozefest.

He greeted Ivy and smiled at her when she mentioned coffee "It tastes as good as it smells" he said offering her a cup. He had a feeling they all would be needing it soon enough, unless it went quickly going over common wizarding laws.



"Good morning" he replied smiling back at Benzi when he greeted entered and spoke.



Aha! Finally another person from the ministry "Morning Lynley" he said brightly. He was about to move to take a seat when he heard Alexa speak and nearly snickered but gave her a wry smile and nodded, "If you'd like one, I'd be happy to pour you one as well."



Another fro around the ministry, he recognized her as well and smiled her way "There's coffee here if you'd like some" he offered.



He nodded to Penelope as she entered and moved towards a seat. They had a pretty good turnout, and anyone who entered later was more than welcome. He didn't think waiting on the dreaded 'History' of Magic laws was going to be the most exciting part of the trainings. But better to get it over and done with than to put it off!

"I think we'll get started here. If anyone comes in late, we'll just make sure they get involved and also get some copies of notes." He didn't want anyone missing anything important. "What I want to know here, is how familiar each of you are with the most common wizarding laws. Can I ask each one of you to state your name, which department or position you are in, and a law you commonly use in your position?" He thought that for sure would be a really good place to start, that way they'd make sure to cover those areas in the departments, as well as any that might be needed.

I'm putting together laws that are both known canon, mixed canon and SS canon over here. I am in the process of it, and will add to the 3rd post under statutes as we go, or as I finish them!

Chloe was NOT late, no way, no how. Everyone else was simply early, right? Besides she had a valid excuse and was one hundred percent Archer's fault. It wasn't as if this training was mandated for her position BUT it was relevant and to some extent interesting.

Slipping in just as she heard the law enforcement head speak up about getting started, the ginger figured she might as well pipe up first. "Hi everyone! I'm Chloe Adara and I work in Magically Transportation Department as a Portkey Manufacturer." The only one actually but no need to mention that. "so my familiarity with wizarding law is Transportation centered in knowing what can or cannot be used as Portkeys, along with any Transportation related guidelines"

Oh hey, Gabby was here too. Was this some sort of Ministry wide training? She wasn't much for reading but you think she'd have noticed something like that. "Hey Gabby." She greeted with a nod as the woman made her way over to her and Lynnie. Would the others from Transport be showing up too?

The Entrance made by Penelope was quickly followed by the bossman's first question, leaving her only the chance to offer a nod of greeting to her before her focus locked on Gidyun.

Lex might have questioned the reason behind the introductions but then another employee, Transportation by the sound of it, walked in. It reminded her this wasn't just an MLE thing and that there would inevitably be some who didn't know each other as a result. Why it mattered in the grander scheme of this training was beyond her but she'd roll with it anyway.

"Lex, Auror, I take the statute of secrecy on every mission. Can't have the wizarding world's greatest secret exposed just because we've got incompetent bad guys." The smart ones seldom got caught. Unless their targets were the muggles themselves, there was far less threat of exposure with them. It was the ones with half a brain you had to worry about. "It's also a nice little reminder that I can't always go in wand blazing and can't just leave witnesses hanging loose." Had to nip those in the bud too. Just saying.

Victoria had seen the memo and though it sounded really interesting. MLE would never be a department she would work in, but it was good for everyone to be up on things, especially laws. When she dealt with quidditch she needed to be aware of many things. So being more aware of the laws would be something that could really work in her favor.

Looking around as she came in she realized she might be late. Victoria was never late so this was awkward. She hurried up and found a place to sit and just smiled at the people around her.


What had she missed? Did she need to be taking notes?

Tyler was here. He'd come to observe really. Just observe.

Everyone got a nod as he walked into the office and took customary corner away from the general populace.

Corners were good. He could here everything and see everything without most seeing him. He was good with that.

Angelo had entered silently but with his usual confident demeanor, and found a seat to wait for the beginning of the training session. He had, of course, been studying Common Wizarding Law for the last several months. All that remained was his final assessment.

When it was his turn to speak he did so.

"Angelo Toussaint. YATI. The Code of Wand Use is one which is relevant to my position - as I'm able to apply to legally carry a second wand, as most citizens are not permitted to do, according to the Code." He had no plans to do so currently, however. Perhaps after he finished his training.

Ivy appreciated the caffeine and was rather enjoying her cup of coffee when the discussion started up. Wizarding laws she used during her day? Well, that really depended. There was certainly never a dull moment since she'd started working at the ministry.

"Ivy Bettencourt, Ministry Security Officer. Laws pertaining to trespassing are of importance to me on a daily basis, as there are many areas of the ministry that require special permission before being allowed entrance." Raising her mug to signal she was finished, she took another drawn out sip of her coffee and sat back, looking around the room with curious gaze.

Oh, look. They were starting. Chat time would have to wait until later, and Gabby was going to decline coffee even if she would be bored to death by the end of this. As a nursing mother, she did not like the idea of having caffeine in her system.

Anyway, it was time to introduce herself, though anyone who was anyone would already know who she was. "Gabriella Burton, Floo/Fireplace Connections and Repair." So obviously she worked in the Department of Magical Transportation. She was also the liaison for Level Six, but didn't bother mentioning it. Now as for laws... that was getting into boring territory right off the bat, which she had expected. "Well, for one thing we keep muggle fireplaces from getting connected since that would lead to huge problems." There. A mention of the Statute of Secrecy.

Helpful it definitely should be. There were a ton of different jobs within the ministry and a good number of them had connections to one law or another…or many like the department with law in its name. So going back to basics and making sure people were aware of such connections and the interpretations of them was useful. Now to see just who took the opportunity to join in the training.

Was it any surprise that Alexa was the next to join the group in the classroom? Not really, at least to Simon. The younger woman tended to share his hours and enthusiasm to the job. The only thing that rocked it was her newfound motherhood but it appeared as it hadn’t affected her timing. “Hello Lex,” he said, returning her greeting. He left the boss and the coffee and moved to settle into his own niche of the room since he wasn’t interested in the offered beverages.

Well look…one of his employees had come. “Good morning Ivy,” he greeted with a polite smile. “I suppose it does,” he added in reference to the coffee. The security head was still one of the few in the department that preferred tea to the dark brew. Gaining a nod from the returning YATI as the younger man made his rounds, Simon returned it with one of his own to show acknowledgement of his presence. He wasn’t aware of the reason for his earlier departure but it was good to see that the trainee known as Benzi had returned.

The door opened once more and finally admitted a non-MLEr. A department head at that, one he was familiar with. Simon also got the impression from previous encounters he might have struck a nerve with the woman. “Good morning,” he greeted nevertheless to be polite, something he strived to do most times. “Hello” he greeted the other woman who soon followed suit into the classroom. He remembered her…Gabby…also being from Transportation so at least one department was promoting the lesson from what he gathered.

“Morning,” he echoed Penelope’s greeting with a nod before noticing Gid seemed ready to go. So Simon followed suit, finally sitting down in the chair he had been standing beside and settling in to be ready for what was to come. He listened to what the department head had to say, his gaze fluttering around to the others in the room once the other man was finished and looking for people to speak. He’d let others start before he’d consider jumping in.

The third transportation member joining just as they started got a nod at what she supplied. The rules of Portkey use were one such law that applied to just about anyone else at various levels of depth. Lex was next to answer and she too got a nod of understanding. Simon might not spend too much time out in the field anymore given his change in job but Statute of Secrecy was always a big one.

The door opened and first Victoria and then Tyler appeared and joined the group. The former discreetly taking a seat while the auror opted to stand in the corner like the typical or atypical law enforcement officer, depending on the person/situation. Simon gave the Games and Sports worker a smile before continuing to listen as others spoke. Like Angelo the YATI and Ivy from his division. He too carried a second wand at times as a precaution much like aurors and trainees when dealing with potential need. As for what Ivy said, trespassing was also on his daily usage.
Now if only he could think of what to add.

“Simon Bennett…Security Division head,” he introduced to start himself off. “Besides the trespassing laws stated, the Ministry of Magic Health and Safety Regulations, 345-01 & 346-01 play a role in the day to day. From wand weighing to visitor passes issued to tracking items brought into the ministry that could pose harm.”

Lynley was going to reply to both Gabby and Alexa, among others, but Gid started their...was this a lesson? Lynley could have rolled her eyes, Merlin. She didn't feel like talking, but she supposed she would.

"Lynley Purcell, Transportation. We have many laws regarding the making, charming, and usage of magic carpets." Which Lynley had worked HARD ON her first year here at the Ministry. So that's why they were near and dear to her heart.

She was glad Chloe had arrived! Well done, Level Six. The younger woman got a smile from her department head.

He looked up as another person entered and nodded in greeting, but listened as she spoke as well. "Indeed Chloe, that is an important law many of us should be familiar with. To be able to determine if the portkey in question is also a legal one." They wouldn't want unlawful ones to be used, nor a Muggle to find one and somehow be transported away as well!



He nodded as Alexa started speaking. "That's absolutely correct" he replied beaming at her. "That's the one statute that everyone in here, regardless of their position, role or department in the ministry is. We all need to have a firm reminder of that. It's not all about what clothing we wear or if a wand is seen being used. It's how we handle the situation." He was a little disappointed to see no one from A&C was there currently. "I have a question for everyone here, but I'll wait a little bit to ask that. Keep this statute in mind though."



Gid smiled at Victoria as she entered as well as Tyler who entered right behind her. He then made triplicates of the notes he had so far and passed it their way.



He nodded as Angelo spoke. "Very good! Particularly in this department, and there are very few that are licensed from this ministry. We all should be aware of who they are, and what roles are permitted to have a secondary wand."



"Excellent point" Gid said after Ivy spoke. "Certain areas here must be carefully watched and we should ensure that those who are taking those entrances and going into those areas are there for good reason and belong there." Merlin, talk about areas like Mysteries, or even the floos in MLE? Hadn't that been how the plant had infiltrated years back with the zombies? Some random person off the street?



His eyes drifted to Gabby as she spoke and nodded as he listened "Precisely, that could be a huge predicament."



He was about to expand on Gabby's comment when Simon spoke "Exactly" he said nodding. As Lynley spoke his eyes went to hers and nodded at that as well. "Good." he replied. He agreed each of those laws and rules each department had were incredibly important and needed to be known by others. No one law or statute was any more important than another. They were all there for a reason.

"One of the concerns I have in regards to particularly the statutes and laws we have in regards to Muggles, is what are we doing to prevent the spread of the wizarding world and the secrecy. Are we combining enough with Accidents and Catastrophes? Do each of us know and work one on one with obliviators?" He sat forward a little and looked around at them "We have these statutes in place, yes. But what are we doing to ensure that they are being followed and protected. As well as those Muggles are having their memories modified. Is anyone else here an obliviator?"

Alex had been here, she had just been quiet and taking notes as the meeting went on. She knew most of the laws but didn't want to speak up until the end Gidyuns talk when he spoke up about her department.

Well it was sort of her department. She wasn't even sure if she should speak up or not but she meet the Head of the MLE's eyes and nodded to him before she spoke in her soft but musical voice.

"Alexandrina Stevens here, I work in Level three as a Reminisciator, a little more specialized than an Obliviator, but I do have experience in that field. " She said as she looked around. Where was the rest of the people from A&C? Surely in a meeting about Wizarding laws, they should be present right?

Being able to obliviate and being an obliviator were two different things, so Angelo kept his mouth shut at the newest question, though his lip quirked the tiniest bit. He heard a woman speak up and claim to be a reminisciator - which was something he found interesting, politically speaking. More so than obliviation to a point actually. Manufacturing memories. Implanting them. It was interesting that the Ministry condoned such things when it was for their own purposes wasn't it? And yet could consider it to be a crime if it were an unsanctioned activity.

Yes, very interesting.

What nightmare was Becca currently in? Oh yes, reality. The worst kind. The red-head breezed into the room and sat herself down in the nearest seat, avoiding looking at her husband. She was here to support him... or something along those lines... whatever.

Once she was settled, she started listening to what people were saying and did her best not to sigh. However, her pure boredom and amusement showed when her eyes rolled so hard that she was pretty sure she saw her brain. Apparently seeing her brain had given her an idea though, because when it came to her turn to talk, Becca simply asked "And what about you, sir? What's your name, department, position, and which law do you commonly use in your position?" Had he forgotten the first rule of this kind of thing? The boss always goes first!

Also, she was ignoring the obliviator question. Just out of spite and bitterness.
