Default Courtyard and Brick Wall

The Leaky Cauldron sits auspiciously as part of the Muggle World, the portal to Diagon Alley. Stepping out the back door of the Leaky Cauldron, it leads to the open patio that is deceivingly large. Once inside the Courtyard the stone path circles around the green area, which is a popular place for young children to relax upon during summer holidays and is also a popular place for, people to lie out and have lunch.

On the green, a tall stone fountain sits and waits for a lucky sickle or two to find its way to the bottom of the fountain. However, the incredible thing about the fountain is the stone is rests upon. The stone floor underneath and surrounding the fountain is charmed to light up with each step a person makes on the stone floor. The color traces the outside of the traveler’s foot and each new step is a fresh new color.

Out on the green surrounding the fountain is the home to a garden of flowers that are freshly planted. Each little patch of flowers is also charmed by the former owner, Harley, to smell of a different kind of treat at the Leaky Cauldron, i.e.. Butterbeer Flowers.

Off to the side of the Courtyard, a winding stone pathway leads to a quaint little pond filled with a hundred carp fish that Ryoma, the old owner, had specially imported from Japan. This little pond is tucked in the back of the Courtyard and serves as a little treat to all who happen upon it. Next to the pond is a simple wooden box with a money hole in the top. Dispense ten sickles and the box produces fish food to feed the carp.

Louisa asks that everyone, including little witches and wizards, pick up after himself or herself.

Ironically, she thought of a very specific someone she didn't get along with just as Mordred made his Slytherin comment. How could she not like a Slytherin? "When said Slytherin is nasty about your blood status..." Sophie replied looking up at him and shrugging. She couldn't help but think how much worse she would've gotten had she been a Muggleborn. Merlin, some people... But she realised that had been a bit gloomy, so she smiled again. "But I like all the right Slytherins." Grin.

Mordred didn't believe he was a good dad. His comment honestly didn't surprise Sophie as she knew him too well by now, but she couldn't help but feel bad. "Don't be silly now. He's just at a funny age." And he wasn't even a teenager yet. Sophie wasn't going to bring that up, though. They would deal with tomorrow's problems when tomorrow arrived. The brunette watched as her husband obviously dove deep into thoughts and stayed quiet for a bit too, just watching him. "Okay, that's enough of that for now." She said half jokingly, but she also meant it as she nudged his side. Too much overthinking could send him to places in his mind that she didn't want him to go.

She chuckled as he explained what his Hogwarts expectations had been. As he voiced his mother's comment, she widened her eyes for a brief second, thinking that was maybe a little too much of a heavy burden to place on a child. On her lovely husband when he was a child. What if he hadn't been sorted into Slytherin? Sophie was sure that would've made him feel terrible. She made a mental note to not make any kinds of comments towards her own children, just in case. She'd be absolutely happy with whatever house they were sorted into anyway! Sophie chuckled softly again as he finished his comments on his mother and rubbed his arm. His mother was rarely wrong, hm? Another burden Sophie herself wouldn't want to carry. "Our families are so different." She chuckled.

Her husband's next words caught her completely off guard. She had been watching the slowness of everything around the fountain and was feeling quite at peace with the world only to be given what felt like very shocking news. "That was... very sudden." Her eyes were wide again as she blinked multiple times, still trying to make sense of it all. Move houses - and not only that, move to the other side of the country! -, change the kids' schooling - which wasn't just sending them to another school per se, but moving them from a Muggle system into a Magical one - AND actually getting an extra pet??

W h a t.

She wasn't even sure where to start. "I-- Uh..." Blink. She studied him for a moment before speaking up again. "This is not because you think you're lacking as a dad... is it?" Because if it was she would have a loootttttt to try and get into his lovely mind. Sophie herself loved changes, but she knew her husband. He wasn't like her. At all. Much.

Wherever had this come from?? And she wasn't getting rid of the alpacas, nope.
Sophie did get along with all sorts of people back in Hogwarts, regardless of their house, blood status, social status, and what have you. She was remarkable like that, and Mordred couldn't be more proud of who she is. For all he knew, Mordred was easily classified as the snob one, but that did not deter Sophie from reaching out, and basically show him that it wasn't so bad to have friends, or to socialise a bit with people he wasn't familiar with. Truth be told, he was and still is condescending considering his upbringing and the environment that had shaped him to become who he was. But he could easily brush it off with the reason for wanting the best of the best for himself, and his family. "You got the best of both worlds. You know what it's like to live the life of a witch and a muggle." he said thoughtfully while rubbing his wife's arm. "Thank you for choosing me, though..." Was he one of the right Slytherins? Well, it was a given. However, he knew he was far from being the perfect one.

Mordred was lost, to be honest. He didn't know what went through Noah's mind. If he could read Catherine, almost instantly, it was the opposite for Noah. He's their firstborn son, and he expected himself to understand him completely. He really was lacking. The twins are exactly a year away from attending Hogwarts, and Mordred found himself wanting to slow down the time. But how? He has been on-call at work almost every day, given the unusual sightings of Creatures in the muggle world, and spending time with their twins was almost always impossible. In fact, he's been to work that morning, only to ask to call the rest of his afternoon off to be with his family. But for obvious reasons, he cannot afford to do small time-offs all the time. The dragonologist had a frown on his face until he felt the nudge on his rib, breaking his thoughts.

He then kept his mouth shut as soon as Sophie found her words. He knew it was going to be a shock, and he was expecting the reaction. There goes their romantic date. Mordred bit his lower lip as he eyed another family make their way into Diagon Alley, while his thoughts drifted back to the moment wherein he decided to have this talk with his wife.

Was the reason because he felt he was lacking? Perhaps it was more than that. Mordred shook his head and shifted in his seat. "Noah and Catherine have obviously made friends in school. When the time comes for them to attend Hogwarts, I am sure they will be bombarded with questions as to why they don't see them there anymore. I thought, perhaps, moving to a different city with a good population of wizarding folks around would be easier for them and Scarlett and Enzo. At least the twins will have a real excuse for their friends." Mordred tilted his head as he pressed on. "And I am worried for Scarlett, to be honest. Anytime soon, her magic will manifest. She exhibits the least control among our children, and I am genuinely concerned for her, and her peers." Not to mention, the Statute. "At least in a wizarding primary school, they could teach her how to control it early on. The same goes for Enzo." Mordred sighed, and again shook his head. "I am basing it on observations of course...and they are a completely different case from the twins. Noah and Catherine know how to act accordingly...but I don't know about Scar and Enzo." Mordred did not dare admit that they needed help from professionals regarding two of their youngest offsprings but thought it was necessary AND important for EVERYONE'S sanity. "But of course, like in any big decisions concerning the family, I need your opinion on this matter."

Sophie gave him a half smile. "I know, and I love it. But try telling that to blood purists." She shook her head, but then her smile widened to a full one when she thought how lucky she was to have married a pureblood Slytherin who didn't think like the others. Not lucky because of his blood purity, of course, but because she got to marry HIM despite blood status and whatever it was some people might think. She couldn't help but chuckle at his other remark. "You're welcome!" She grinned before giving him a quick kiss. "Thank you for choosing me. You could've chosen... you know... someone else." AND she didn't even mean just Chloe *spits on floor*. Mhm, and she meant it BECAUSE she knew at one point he was quite the popular guy at Hogwarts. She KNEW probably because of how much she spoke about him in a way everybody started seeing just how wonderful he was. She should learn from that, really. But now he was hers for good so it was okay and people could want him all they wanted, it didn't matter anymore anyway, hehehehehehe.

That was right, no overthinking much for you, mister!

Sophie couldn't help but chuckle again at his logic. So adorable and such a pureblood way of thinking. She smiled warmly and stroked his hair as he spoke because adorable husband was adorable. Look at him being an adorable, clueless pureblood wizard. She grinned, amused, and continued to listen to his argument. "I think they would be fine with their friends, love. That doesn't mean I'm essentially against moving." So there was no need for him to think of more reasons for now. At his thoughts about Scarlett, Sophie had to bite her lower lip. It was probably because he spent so much time working that he wasn't fully aware of their daughter's abilities yet, poor hubby. Sophie wondered if she should tell him he wasn't exactly right on that point, but maybe that would make him feel even worse as a dad and she most definitely did not want that. She had to say something, though. "Actually... she's the one with the most magical control out of all our kids, love." There, it was out. Oh dear. She gave his hand a gentle squeeze and gave him an apologetic look. DON'T FEEL BAD, PLEASE, HANDSOME HUSBAND! Sophie braced herself anyway.

But okay, he wanted her input and opinion. "Um..." She started, looking back to the fountain to ponder things a bit. That was a lot to take in all of a sudden, he'd have to bear with her. How to tell him she didn't think those reasons were really detrimental - and even if they were, they could always sort things out where they were -, but she wasn't totally against the idea of moving. It was just that she didn't think those were... 'good enough' reasons. "Is this what you want?" She asked, turning again to look into his eyes. That would be a much more plausible reason in her mind and she'd be more than happy to consider things from that perspective.

A lot more than to think it was because their children needed professional help(???????)!?

Having innocently wandered off from their herd as they migrated to find another forest suitable for dwelling, the humble group of adolescent centuars somehow managed to find themselves at the threshold of wizarding London. Arelis, Zerano, and Midoos gleefully pranced atop the color changing bricks beneath their hooves. A younger generation, they had grown up far more open minded to such wizarding tricks.

"You can understand why Thereos saved those two-legged ones," Zerano sang as he bound from a blue colored stone and turned it sunset orange upon landing. "If they can capture the colors of the sky in stone like this."

"And flowers!" chimed in Arelis while her wild braids smacked against her strong shoulders as she worked a patch of stone herself. Hers turning from vivid purples to brilliant yellows that reminded her of the daffodils she would collect on the Hogwarts grounds. She yearned for home and this running away from nothing into more nothing was beginning to wear on the entire herd. She just wanted to go home to the Forbidden Forest. But she also felt that Zerano had been right. That they DID need a fun distraction and this was it!

Midoos, however, was not as celebratory about their misadventure. "W-We should get back to the herd," he stammered while rubbing his impressive forearms. "Piritrius told us not to wander off again after the last time..."

Both Zerano and Arelis gave their friend a scrutinizing glare.

"....I'm only saying...this isn't where we belong..." he reiterated for what felt like the hundredth time since this morning.

Maxie was in the middle of his whistling rendition of the muggle classic Whistle by Flo Rider - a very clever pun on Florida, really, he constantly appreciated it - when he stumbled across this... very unusual scene.

He had errands to run for his boss, a Knockturn Alley establishment to visit, and he had really wanted to get a quote on a tattoo from Paradise, but there were centaurs at the brick wall. CENTAURS!

"Hello!" Maxie greeted them, delighted by this day. How often does one see a centaur?? And here, there were three of them! In all his twenty two years on this planet, he had seen a great many strange things but never three centaurs at the leaky cauldron.

That sounded like the beginning of a terrible joke, but this was real life. "Are you trying to get into Diagon Alley?" Very strange, surely, for centaurs to want to go shopping, but maybe this was a new wave of centaurs. Maybe they'd get tattoos with him, wouldn't that be neat?!

It was Midoos who reacted first. And the most dramatically.

His already straight posture went rigid and his hind legs gave an impulsive kick before his broad, slightly hunched, shoulders veered sideways so his dark eyes could fall on the newcomer.

"........what is a Diagon Alley?" he questioned.

Zerano and Arelis ceased their frolicking, the stones beneath their hooves settling on a warm fushia and lucious green respectively. Arelis began to play with her braids anxiously. Her first human. Her first proper human.

Zerano, feeling entitled as the nephew to Piritrius, bolding stepped forward and put his study dark bay flank between this human and Arelis. "State your name and intention, two-legged one."

"Oh my," she said, stopping with a hand against her heart. Centaurs. Three of them. And a customer. Who seemed to have their reaction pointed towards.

"Hello there. My name is Louisa Pepperwood and this is The Leaky Cauldron." Which she owned. So, her business was literally right where the Centaurs were. What is a Diagon Alley!! Visions of being a centaur tour guide filled Maxie's mind and he was just about to launch into a vivid explanation of the sights and smells and sounds of the famous British alley, when he was stopped by another centaur, asking about him.

Maxie took a moment to properly survey the four-legged crowd. He noted the pretty colours they left on the brick wall, and he also noted that they all had very different personalities. One, the first one, seemed... untrusting. The one with the braids, he liked her. The braiding reminded him of his sister. And, the third one, the third one didn't seem to like him at all.

"Max-" Oh, wait. The leaky owner was here. He knew her, somewhat, since he always liked to grab lunch here when running his work errands. "And I'm Maximilian, but usually people call me Maxie," he said his first name with a stronger French accent, and quickly returned to the London way of speaking he'd carefully learned. "My intention is to help you, sir! Would you like to hear some music? Or something to eat? Or, perhaps, explore the alley with me?" Maxie, at centaur service!
