Hey, guys - I just got braces. I do not like them at all!!!

Do you have braces? Do they ever feel normal? What do you not like most about them?

I was fourteen and I had them for a year and a half, and to be honest I never really noticed them. I had to have a painful surgery before I got them, so that was the worst of the whole experience. Before I knew it, the braces were off and I finally loved my smile! (I used to have the most horrible smile because of my teeth) So it was totally worth doing

I didn't like the fact that I never felt 100% clean with teeth brushing and flossing, and I hated that I couldn't eat lots of foods that I loved for fear of damaging the braces. (I did pop a bracket eating a chewy lolly once )

How long do you have them for? I'm sure you'll be used to them in no time

I have braces and have had them for nearly a year and a half now. To be honest they never felt non-normal. Everyone seemes to have braces at my school. After a whike you will get used to them.

I had braces. :'3 At first I had one of those things that go around your neck and stuff xD but I only had it for three months, then I got the normal ones, I guess. Those I had for.... 2 years I think, so I got them taken out when I was 14.

I had braces. Hated it for the first two weeks or so. But after that, I was okay with them. And a few months into it, they became a normal part of life for me. Of course, that doesn't mean I was super happy to get them off.'

And the lucky thing was that I got them right before middle school, and I got them off right before high school. Talk about timing!

I've had braces for over a year now, and I've got to admit that I'm not too fond of them. I agree with VelociraptorPatronus about never feeling like my teeth are 100% clean. But I think picking out the color of the bands is fun, and my teeth already look so much better. It'll definitely be worth it once my teeth are nice and pretty. A lot of people have braces too, so it's not like it's a bad thing. Braces are overall pretty fantastic other than the fact that they're a bit uncomfortable and food tends to get stuck in them easily. *shrugs* I'll be glad to get them off though.

I had braces until a month or two ago. I just acted like nothing was different and hardly anyone notcied (i had clear ones on top). The people who carry on about them are the braces you notice. I definitely felt a lot normal than i expected and now they are off i always look in the mirror and expect to see them. they make certain things hard but i really thing you should embrace them!

I had them before. Hardly knew they existed on my mouth till it came time to brush them (then it was a hassle)

I've got braces. I've had 'em for nearly three years now. Two words. Living. Hell. Not that you should worry, I only don't like them because I don't look like everyone else and because of all of the trouble it caused. I wear glasses too, so at holiday last year, everyone called me Ugly Betty. Once a little boy came up to me and said to his mum 'Look! It's Ugly Betty!' I was SO mortified. But, apart from that, they're OK...

Braces Braces
I had them for almost 2 years and hated them SO SO BADLY because life was so terrible with them especially at first, I remember on the first week I didn't eat anything but Yogurt and soup , when I look at the pictures that were taken when I had braces I see myself never smiling but when I got them off half a year ago I felt like not-a-teenager-anymore :| but was glad to see my all straight teeth on the other hand

I used to have braces; it was... meh. You get used to it. I first got them when I was 7 for two years or so, but I had to get them again when I was 10 or so and had them until I was 13. I would always break the rules and chew gum, although popcorn was a pain in the butt to eat.

I actually used to wear Invisialign, the "retainer" type of braces for 3 years and now I wear them as a retainer.

I've got braces. I got them in early march this year and I'm getting them off next month. Before i got them, my teeth where really wonky and goofy. I had a really big gap between my two front teeth at the top. And now the gap has completely gone. Now I can smile properly in front of a camera.

I never had them and i dont need them

At first it's really weird, I know it hurt me pretty much the first week, but after a while you don't notice them most of the time. I hope your orthodontist is better than mine and doesn't end up causing all sorts of problems like mine did!

I've had them before. At first I was like no I don't need them I wont look better! Let me tell you, I was wrong! I had them on from 6th grade to... 9th? yeah 9th grade. So this year I was very happy to look prettier with out them for my school photo. At first when I had them they annoyed me very bad! I think I skiped school because they hurt me. But that probably wont happen to you! If something hurts me it makes my heat hurt bad... and it not like most people.... Once you get them off you will feel very happy! You will feel better about yours self too thats what I felt at leas , you make even feel like a different person!

To your questions:

After a while they feel normal which idk how long you have had them, they might feel normal by now if you have had them on for long The thing I didn't like was the tighting part

I've got braces. I've had them for 2 years, and 2 months now. and Im the lovely age of 20.
Trust me. It's not nice having braces when you're twenty. hah. I've had my teeth operated on too. It was fun. haha. I want them off soon. Hopefully before I graduate uni...that would be nice.

Braces? I've ever used for a very long time, 5 years!! I wore those silly things on my teeth for 5 years!!
I don't like it. But thank God the dentist had released it 3 years ago. Wearing braces was make me weird and looked geek (since I also wear glasses). Sometimes I thought that I am Ugly Betty

I've had braces for 4 Years and I'm 17.It's not nice having them on when your 17.The dentist said I'm getting them taking off soon So I'm happy.

I had braces when I was twelve. I had them for 1 year and 2 months

I've had braces for about a year and four months now. I don't mind them that much anymore. It happens sometimes that I forget I have them. But I hated them at first. The feeling was awful, I wanted to rip it out with my hands at some point. I hope I'm gonna take it off soon, but I am kinda afraid.
