Overlooking the small staircase on the upper level, not far from Splinter and Kreek's, you'll find Knockturn Alley's premiere establishment. Unless you have business here, you will find the door to this pub is almost always locked. If it does happen to open for you, you’ll walk inside the pub, which is dimly lit by lanterns that throw out an eerie orange light. You may feel a distinct creeping feeling up your spine and that isn’t unusual, maybe you should trust your instincts and go somewhere else? The floor in Moribund’s pub is made up of uneven slabs of stone, darkened by age and from the build up of all sorts of grime. The heavy door closes silently behind you as you enter.

In addition to the lanterns, a candlestick sits on each table. Only the candles on occupied tables are lit, though they barely provide enough illumination to see by. The bartender watches you closely, almost accusingly. Its obvious that not just anyone is welcome in Moribunds. They serve food here and it’s surprisingly good but hardly the reason most of the regulars frequent the pub. Children are not welcome in Moribunds; of age witches and wizards only.

You could always return to Knockturn Alley of course, and you might just end up flat on your bum in the street if you cross the wrong people.

Atropos entered the pub and sat at a table. He didn't have to order. The waitress came to his side and quickly put a bottle of nettle wine on the table with a clean glass by it. She uncorked it and poured a little in the glass. Atropos sniffed it, and took a sip. "Thanks luv. You may go." He told the waitress and watched her leave.

Hunter Bones was determined to get a scoop, if only to prove to Ian that she was more than prepared for more than just fluff pieces. Not the only reason she was heading down Knockturn Alley for a drink when there were several very respectable places up on Diagon, but it contributed significantly.

And look there. Hunter spotted one of the more prestigious Knockturn patrons sitting in Moribunds as if he owned place. Which... he did, right? She accepted her firewhiskey and raised it in his direction as if in tribute.

And then didn't drink any 'cause it made her tongue hurt.

Oh... pretty lady waving her drink to him. Atropos lifted his glass to her and gestured to the empty seat next to him. Did he know her? He never forgot a pretty face... the name however he'd always forget. Maybe he did... maybe he didn't... Didn't matter. She was pretty.

Oh, look. Fancy man was inviting her over. Hunter slid off the stool and tugged herself into order before heading toward his table. Good story right from the horse's mouth, obviously. Here's hoping he said something amusing.

"Mr. Trelawney," Hunter slid into the seat and tipped her glass at him again. "Lovely to see you out and about."

Well, she knew him and that was most important. "Oh indeed indeed. It was a lovely day and I have every intention to enjoy it. And yourself, Miss...? I'm terribly embarrassed, I'm horrible with names."

She paused. Her family name was fairly well known, common enough as a pureblood name, but Hunter knew that the name she wrote under 'Hunter' was unusual enough to link to her journalism career. Better to go with her given name, the same as her illustrious and lovely grandmother.

"Bones. Grace Bones," she tilted her head and gave him a smirk.

"Bones... Yes... Now I remember. The lovely Grace." He said and gestured for another glass. "A woman as beautiful as you does not want something as common as," He took the glass from her hands and sniffed it... "Firewhiskey..." He put her glass on the tray, as the waitress brought another glass to the table. "The nettle wine here is the best. It's deliciously sophisticated." He poured her some as he waved the waitress off.

"To the contrary, some firewhiskey is quite..." Expensive? Ridiculously priced? "Refined. Not Ogden's, of course." And she would accept the nettle wine because the man was paying for it and a poor girl with a small salary never turned down free anything.

Too bad he wasn't offering free food and a nice winter coat. It was brrrr cold outside and she was hungry. "I was thinking of visting that fortune teller down the way. Is it worth the Galleons?"

"Oh yes... she's a tad... frightening, but she is the best fortune teller in England." He said moving the glass towards her. "She's very worth the galleons... if you'd like I can escort you to her. You will enjoy her reading. But now please have a drink with me."

"Ah, I'm not sure I'm prepared to fit that into my schedule today," Hunter hedged. It wasn't really a matter of time, although she was currently taking an extended lunch break. It was more that she wasn't sure she would permit herself to go anywhere with someone with as dangerous a reputation as this man.

"What shall we drink to?"

Hunter wasn't often nonplussed, but the man's compliments were so... out of the blue. Unexpected.

"Thank you, Mr. Trelawney. I'm... flattered. And here's to your business venture here in Knockturn Alley."

"Indeed," He said with a smirk and with one final lift of his glass and nod of his head to her, he drank the dark red liquid. "Now Miss Bones," He said putting his glass on the table and sounding a lot more serious. "Do tell me, if you are not here to purchase from our stores," he noted she had no bags, "and do not have time to see our Gypsy fortune teller, what, then, brings you my Alle-" he cleared his throat and smiled. "to Knockturn Alley... A woman such as yourself, good breeding and all, and with such a family..." was goodietwoshoeness a word? "history, frankly I'm surprized you didn't patronize the Leaky Cauldron."

"Now that's insulting, see?" Hunter tipped the glass a bit but didn't drink any. "I haven't done my shopping yet, clearly, but that doesn't mean I don't intend to buy anything."

She didn't, but... perhaps she could pick up a shrunken head for Tolliver to play with. "Perhaps I just enjoy people watching. You meet the most fascinating people in Knockturn."

"Indeed, you do." He said raising an eyebrow. He'd give her the benefit of the doubt, but he wasn't a fool. He didn't get to be where he was trusting people and taking them at their word. "I do apologize for insulting you. I assure you that was not my intention." He said and filled her glass with more wine. "Please, let me make it up to you Miss Bones. Dine with me tonight... Strictly to beg for your forgiveness... I am a married man, after all, I am sure you know. But I promise you, the Bangers and Mash is the best in London." He smiled wickedly.

Hunter wondered fleetingly if lines like that worked, but she was no one's fool. "As much as I'm flattered by the invitation, I'm afraid I have an appointment." Namely... she had a job to return to shortly.

"Tell me about Knockturn, though. You're the expert, and you can tell me the highlights to hit while I'm here."

"I insist... If not tonight, soon. Tomorrow? The day after? I cannot go on knowing I have offended you." He said taking her hand in his. He kissed the top of it gently. "Highlights? Well it depends on what you're in the market for..." He let go of her hand and sat back in his chair looking at her. "Miss Bones, Knockturn Alley isn't a tourist attraction..."

"And I must contradict you. First, you haven't offended me. And second, there is no greater attraction than seeing life... as it really exists. Gritty and real and frivolous and serious and bittersweet and awful."

He smirked mischievously, "Then I will owl you, Miss Bones, and..." He leaned forward to take his glass and swirled the liquid. "I'd be happy to take you around... I wouldn't want a woman such as yourself to be taken by surprise by hooligans... or worse..." He said, his voice lower and more ominous.

"And we discourage children from coming to Knocturn Alley. Miss. Bones." His voice had lost the pleasant feel that coated it, but he quickly retrieved it. "I suggest you go to Borgin and Burkes, it is a historical location... The Starry Prophesier, as you know boasts a gypsy hag... you want gritty, real and awful... find something you need fixed at Arkie's."

"I've known them to fix anything... one way or another..." He said and shrugged. "All the other shops are just as interesting... The necromancy store is haunted... if that interests you..." He looked at her glass... she hadn't touched it since his last refill. "Miss Bones... is the nettle wine not to your liking? Would you like your firewhiskey back?"

"Ghosts do interest me," Hunter agreed, picking up her glass and taking a sip. It was a very obedient action, more to sooth his ego than because she wanted the nettle wine.

She didn't.

"Very good. Thanks."
