Hmm ... I think that the graphics contest should be up for more than one week. Normally people don't make it to the deadline on time and such. I think we should have a week for them to PM their work and another week for voting. That way nothing is rushed, nor would it be too long.

The graphics competition sounds like a great idea! Promotional, yet fun. As for the time length, a week should more than enough for people to get there stuff in.

As for promotional likes like telling people to join the FC, I've recently discovered the joys of text icons with my photoshop -points to avvie-, so I might swing some together for you guys.

A week may be enough time, but there is going to be a chance that you're going to need to extend it because member participation is pretty low right now beyond the officers of the FC. Granted, any officer other than a graphics officer can make an entry (and should bc its fun!), but even so, you may want to have a backup plan in the event that participation is minimal. Just a little jewel of experience

Yes. Thus why I suggested having the whole thing be done in a two week timeline. The FCs are, sadly, not as active as they used to be and a little extra time wouldn't hurt anyone.

As for everything else, for whom should we make the awarding graphics for? The top three winners (If there is that many)? Or just the top winner?

Maybe we could give everyone who participated a prize as well?

Yeah. That's what I was thinking. 'Cause the top three in most cases are the hard once to choose from. Like have the winniner have something a little extra. A tag perhaps? JKRFC #1 Graphics Winner or something.

That all sounds good to me. I think that everyone who entered deserves something, maybe a siggy or an avvy for just participating. like the thought of the top three winners getting something. Like maybe give everyone who participates but didn't win one of the top three prizes like an avvy or something. and then give the third and second place winners a siggy and then like the first place a siggy and avvy set. Thats just an idea.

Here is another thought. Maybe like while the contest is going on each of the officers could wear an avvy or siggy that says something about the contest. That way people will know that its going on. Maybe we could even add a link in the picture that way people can just click on it and get there.

And yes top 3 should get something special and perhaps all the rest can get an "I participated in the JKRFC graphics contest" siggy

I believe we decided on having the graphics competition being held of about one to two weeks. The best time for me to help out for the graphics competition would be after this week, but it doesn't really matter to me when we decide to have it.

I think I was misunderstood in what I said in my last post. I meant that having one week of entries may not be enough, considering people like to procrastinate and put things off, so just be prepared to have to extend the submission period to 2 weeks and then one week of voting. Keep it planned the way you all have it now because I think it is a good goal, but just be aware that your plans may need to change.

If the planning is done for the competition, you all can post the announcement in the main thread and in the announcements thread whenever you're ready. But PLEASE make sure your instructions are complete, clear, and concise! Tell them what size the files have to be, what is required of them, the theme, etc. etc. Nice work folks!

What is Required of Members: Design a signature or avatar to promote the JKRFC...and someone can please help me here! :p
Ok...so when should we start? Last week of March/First week of April?

(definitely not the week of 3/23 that's Easter in the US...and not the week ending the 19th of April and the one beginning the 20th of April...that is Passover! we don't wanna lose entries because of lack of users on holidays)

I think that it'll be alright if we start on the last week of March and go through the first week of April. No holidays going besides April Fool's I think, but that shouldn't make much of a difference even though fun things tend do happen on April Fool's here.

I think that we need to have two weeks to send in entries. One would be great too but for promotional reasons I think that two would be better. I'm guessing that when you submit an enty that you would send it to an officer. Would it be any officer or just the graphics officer. Either is good to me but I was just wondering. I think the last week of March is a great time to start as well.

Hmm ... I'm not sure. I think it would be a lot better if just the graphic officers get the entries themselves. That way the other officers can vote without knowing whos entry belongs to who.

We also should announce all the participants and their work at the end.

^^^ I agree. I'm not too good with graphics (which is an understatement of the year, I'm awful), so wouldn't really know what to do if any one submitted anything to me.

Plus, what criteria are you basing the judging on? Just what looks best, or how it was created (how complicated it was to create such items)? I know I'd not be any use judging the latter.

Before we start, how are we promoting the competition. At the moment, it seems to be the same people come to this FC, so maybe sending PMs to everyone enlisted in the FC and maybe officers etc could where promotion siggies etc on the run up and during the submission weeks to keep it high profile. It would just be nice to get a fair few to judge from.

Just a thought.

^^Thats a really good point about the judging. I think that you all should judge on the way it looks definatly and what it's saying. I mean which one promotes the FC the best (of course)

I think the PMs are probably esential. Like you said if only the people that visit know it we will have all of the normal people and then the premoting aspect of it would kinda go to waste.

Is there any way that we could post somewhere in the Madam Malkins Forum. You know telling all of the shop owners about the contest. I'm not sure if thats posible but if it is I think we probably need to seeing as how they create alot of the graphics on the site.
