Graphics contest: I think it is a brilliant idea and you all should start conferring on it! Try to make it something a little more specific, like for example that they have to make a signature promoting the JKRFC or a siggie/avvie set or three avvies, a banner, etc. etc. Give a lot of direction so that we can try to get some participation in it! Hopefully it will work out! Also, try to come up with prizes for the winner! We can definitely acknowledge that person in the newsletter.
Discussions: All the suggested topics are great! Perhaps we should start out with "If you could change one thing about the books, what would it be?" I think that might get the best response from the members at this point in time because people like to talk about themselves (it's true! You all know it!) and this gives them more of a chance to express themselves by stating what they wanted to see happen. I'll let one of the co-presidents open up the discussion!
Other Activities: We are restricted in the number and type of threads that we can open at this time because our participation hasn't reached the point it needs to; however, with you all taking on officer positions I'm hoping that each of you will continue to contribute to the main thread and discussions so that we may get some more threads opened! With that said, we may still be able to open an Introductions thread and the Spotlight on a member with interviews. I think they are great ideas! For the members list, we could make that the opening post of the Introductions thread and people could post some details about themselves there. Let me run this by one of the Mod admin to get clearance to open any or all of those up and I'll report back here to let you know! |

Should we do a new newsletter soon? It's been almost a month and with our new officers I'm sure we can all come up with something awesome.
Oh, and I was thinking. How about a graphic for each new member we get? It could be something small, like an avie saying "New JKRFC member" or something like that. Something to show everyone how important the new members are (well we're all extremly imoportant but you know) It'll be a nice way of saying "Welcome to the JKRFC". | |

I definitely think it is a good time for a newsletter. It can advertise the graphics contest that we're gonna start, include an announcement about the new officers, the new discussion topic, and maybe some new activities that are going to start happening (once I get approval) at the JKRFC. Maybe the presidents can do the part with the announcement of the new officers, the graphics officers can do the write-up about the contest and the main grahphics thread once they've figured out the kinks for the contest, the activities officer can describe the new things happening in the FC once we know what they are as well as the new and old discussions, birthday/news secretary can cover those two areas, and the promotions officer can cover all the rest (mainly the main thread where we play games and chat about JKR) as well as format the newsletter.
And I absolutely LOVE the idea of an avvie for each new FC member! If you all can make it happen, I think it is a wonderful idea!

So, I've spoken with an admin and we have authority to post the members list with an Introductions thread for members to post a bit about them! We have to hold off on the Interview thread, but if our activity increases enough, we can get permission in the future to have a Member of the Month thread So, what I need from you is the opening paragraph you'd like in the thread explaining what information you'd like the members to include and a place for me to input the members list. Perhaps the graphics officers could come up with a nice JKRFC banner to put as a header for the thread! And we can get it posted in no time! | |

How's the planning for the graphics contest going? I'd like to get an activity of some sort, whether it be graphics or some other kind, going within the next couple weeks. Let me know what you folks wanna do!

I don't really know how these things work, but is there any way we can advertise the competition before it starts, so more people can see what's going on? I don't really know how, but is there somewhere central t othe site where we can hype it up?
Even if it's creating pre comp. siggies we can use to get people's attention that this is going on.

The graphics contest sounds like a great idea. Ummm.... I think that it should probably start pretty soon. I'm not tooo sure what kind of prizes we could do but I'll think about it.
As far as ways o premote the fc I think that we could maybe like have some really awesome siggy's or avvy's made up and everyone could "wear" them and of course premote it in our siggy's with a link. | |
