Did you all read Jo's comment that one of the reasons she wouldn't want to write an 8th HP book is because she didn't want to write about Quidditch?! That seems like a funny reason to not want to write a book! LoL! Personally, I think the story was told in 7 and should end in 7 (tho I won't say no to that encyclopedia to tie up the loose ends) but I just think it is funny that she won't do an 8th b/c she dislikes writing about Quidditch so much!

I can understand about the Quidditch thing as I was never really into those sections in the book, and I can imagine it would be very difficult to come up with more matches that were interesting. But with it being a big thing to fans, I think she would feel like she was disappointing them if the sport was left out. It is a big expectation, especially if the books were to include members of Harry's family as they would be expected to be good at it.

^^^I'm with you. There may be a fair few unanswered questions that I would like the answers to, but not in the form of another HP book. They have run their course and were summed up perfectly, leaving the loose ends tied up. However, I am waiting with baited breath for the Encyclopedia.

I know Tiff! I couldn't believe that was the reason she listed for not writing the 8th book. It does seem rather lame, but at the same time it would be a disappointment to the fans if she let the sport out of the books. The books were tied up nicely with seven books, and it should be left at that!

But an encyclopedia would be nice to clear up the loose ends, such as the veil.

That was her reason? I guess I can see that; I mean writing about an imaginary sport is hard work and we really didn't know a lot about it to begin with. If you relly think about it she neer meant for Quidditch to become so popular, she wanted us to get to know the characters, not something so insignificant like a sport. Mind you I'd love to see an 8th book but an encyclopedia would be fantastic, like Jess I want to know more about the veil and the House elfs.

Pfft. That's an easy decision to make! An interview with JKR for one hour, hands down. Just to be in the same room with that woman makes my heart quiver . Seriously, to be able to get all my questions asked about the original series from Jo herself would be an amazing honor.
Besides, there were meant to be only 7 HP books; why add another and ruin a good thing?

I would just love for her to sit down one day and answer mine. I think the encyclopedia will only address so much and there are some things, that when re-reading the books, I'm bursting to find out the answers as it just feels like some things are not tied up.
