I think it is really great how Jo has such high standards when it comes to setting a good example. The reason she stopped the printing was because the paper didn't meet the appropriate ecological standards of being 'harvested' from an area with a sustainable forestry plan in place. I think it is great that Jo really cares about the environment that much to prevent the type of waste that could theoretically have occurred if the original print had been completed.

I think it is really amazing how she makes so many people in this world conscious of things they might never have thought about without her. For example, her role with MS has likely gotten some fans involved with learning about the condition and helping raise money to find a cure and for treatments; her involvement with this paper thing makes people realize how important it is that we are not destroying our forests with reckless abandon, etc. etc. I admire her for that.

I definitly agree with that statement Tiff, I mean if only people would realize how much they waste in a month they'd understand the nessesity of recycling and by using recycled paper Jo is showing people how to properly recycle in a way. I know I've improved greatly thanks to her strictness on using paper that's been recycled.

I think that it is great that Jo uses her celebrity to do good and draw attention to causes you wouldn't normally know existed. It's great that she focuses on issues and causes that are not in the public eye but are just as important as those we all know and hear about. Good for her.

I couldn't agree more Nat. I live in the US so I never would have even been aware of this issue had it not been for Jo's involvement, but now that I know, I completely support what she is doing. As a member of a healthcare profession, I've seen things like this happen all too often where they try to centralize services to save money for the company/medical group and leave their patients to foot an even bigger bill by adding travel on top of their treatment. Not to mention adding the emotional stress of being away from those most important to them while going thru something traumatic. It's shameful and I fully support Jo and the campaign.

I started the HP books pretty much the same way. My house mates and brother were all reading them and I kept winding them up saying they were naff and childish. Then just as OOTP came out, I was travelling to Italy and needed a book for the plane so I picked up Book 5 and the obsession began. It's kind of strange how it's turned out - I'm the one who didn't like them to begin with but now, I'm the one on the websites, the first to see the films and the one who queues up at midnight to get the book and refusing to go to bed til the last page is read (I know - Sad, ha ha)

It was a bit different in that I hated the films and just couldn't see what everyone was harping on about when the first film came out. They still don't float my boat but I still have to go and watch them at the cinema when they get released on opening night - even if it is just to criticise it all the way through, usually saying "I can't believe they left that out" and "It was so much better in the book."

Haha honestly? I thought all books that had magic in them were pure evil. Seriously I wouldn't go near LoTR until my friend dragged me into the bookstore and bought me a copy. It was a little 6 year old girl who got me to love HP.

I was babysitting for her (this was when GoF came out) and I was totally bored. It was around 6pm and her bedtime so, being the good babysitter, I asked what book she wanted me to read to her. She jumped up all excited and handed me HP:SS. I scowled slightly but read it. As soon as I got to chapter two I was hooked. I left the house when her mom came home and bought all three books, and waiteed anxiously for the last ones.
