Post Discussion Topic #3 - If you could...

Personally I think I'd only change like two things. I was a bit dissapointed with the fact that my house elfs weren't exaplained more in detail. I think there should have been more involvment with them, other than just the whole final battle thing. We didn't know they were thinking of doing it. Perhaps just a small paragraph (or chapter) describing how Kreacher got theem all to agree to fight.

Another thing I would change would be the professors. I didn't like the fact that all of a sudden all the professors went to help. I'm sue there would be bound to be one who would support him, even if only a small bit and the other professors had to help change the professors mind. Though that would change the whole story line too though... um yeah I'd also say how Gilderoy got our of St. Mungo's (if he did) I mean I'm sure he would have helped in the final fight right?

I did love it and I think the characters were developed perfectly, however, I was a tad disappointed with a couple of sections

Spoiler (Hi light to read)

The whole "Harry is a horcrux" was just too predictable. I remember arguing in the Flourish and Blotts threads that Jo wouldn't go down that route as it was too easy. So I was a bit disappointed (and ego a bit bruised) when I read that section.

I also would have like to have read more about what happened afterwards. The epilogue was just a bit too short for me. I wanted to know what came of certain people in the series and how the ministry changed afterwards. Maybe that will come in the encyclopedia.

It would have been cool if the teachers had been developed a bit more. You really only got to hear about Snape and Dumbledore, it would have been nice to know a bit more about McGonagall and Sprout and a few others.

I'm currently re-reading the series so I may be back with other things I've picked up and would tweak.

I would have loved to see more of Lily and James' relationship. How exactly did he win her over? And I agree, the epilogue was way too short. Also, I never did like calling the house elves "elves," because of how I see them from Lord of the Rings, and I love them in that. I've always had this idea that elves are elegant and beautiful and just a little bit scary, not little slaves.
