Reagan F. Taylor Minister's Office | Activity: Let's Write a Letter to Jo! Hello JKRFC members! Many of you have expressed interest in writing a letter to Jo, so... Caitlin and I have discussed it and we think it is a fabulous idea! Ask and you shall receive here at the JKRFC! The purpose of this letter-writing is two-fold: Number one - We can express all our gratitude and opinions to the person without whom this FC, this website, and this entire HP community would not exist! Number two - If we want to expand this FC to include games and chats and all the fun things that come with our own full forum, we need to get involved in activities as a group! Consider this a strong step forward in that direction! We need good participation to make this count, so make us proud! Here is how we were thinking this letter would work:- Each person will use their post to express their gratitude/feelings to Jo! While we want you to express yourself fully, we also want Jo to be able to read the letter in one sitting - so please do not write an OOTP-length post!
If you can, try to keep it around 5 sentences, give or take. If you want it as short as a simple one-sentence "Thank you," that's completely fine! Do what suits you! - Please include your real name (unless you don't want it included in the letter to Jo, but she may think you're funny when you list your name as "DracoISsoHOTomgIloveHIM!" or something like that)
- Make sure you include proper grammar. I doubt Jo wants to read a letter written in Internet slang ("Hey Jo, I think ur books r kewl n ur a good riter").
- This letter will obviously not get to her before the holidays, so wishing her a Merry Christmas will likely be weird when she reads it in March. LoL! (I don't know when she'll actually read it - it depends on how long it takes for you all to post, for us to compile it, for it to get to her by mail, and for her to get thru all her fanmail - so yea, it could be March, maybe later, but let's hope not!
) - If you have any suggestions/ideas/contributions to add about this letter that is separate from your comment to Jo, please include it at the bottom of your post in a different color, or at least, clearly demarcated as separate from your blurb.
- The letter will be prefaced with a paragraph or so explaining general info about the FC, the site, etc. etc. so you don't need to include any of that in your blurb. (If you have ideas for what this intro should include, express them!)
- While it is not required, it might be nice for us as a group to comment on all the things she's accomplished and contributed (though not all in one person's post.) For example, someone may want to congratulate her on being named Most Fascinating Person of 2007 and discuss that, another might want to discuss why she deserved the Childrens Writing Award she recently won, another might want to discuss her charitable contributions through Beedle the Bard and the textbooks, etc. etc. etc. Perhaps you may want to keep that in mind when you're posting, but don't feel obligated for that to dictate your post.
Thanks! Let's have fun with this and show Jo just how much we appreciate her! Start posting now and we'll keep you up to date on deadlines! |

Hi Jo,
I just want to say thank you! I think we all know how much of your heart and soul you have poured into these books and I just want to say a big thank you for letting us share them with you. The impact that they have had is enormous and it is amazing to see how much of an affect they have on people. It may sound a bit daft, but not only the hard work that you have done, but the morals you portray and the integrity you hold really makes me proud to be a fellow Briton.
And just to pile on the pressure a bit, we are all waiting with baited breath for your next book!
Thank you again and take care

Dear Jo,
First off, I would like to say thank you for the lovely books that you have provided us with over the last ten years. I realize this must get boring to read over and over, but they truly are amazing. There are not many writers that can get children, let alone adults to read books in today's modern world. Yet, you have successfully done both. I would like to thereby congratulate you on the well deserved Children's Writing Award you recently won. Thank you for being an inspiration to everyone and changing the world of fiction.
Be well,
Jessica

Firstly,I'd like to thank you for this amazing series of Harry Potter that has so completely changed my life. The message of love and hope that Harry Potter sends out is-more than anything else-the greatest achievement on your part that proves that the pen is mightier than the sword. The changes your work has brought about may be small compared to the evils of this world, but,as the saying goes"Little drops of water make a mighty ocean" You are an inspiration for all of us.Therefore,I'd like to congratulate you for being named the "Most Fascinating Person of 2007".Once again, from me and all my friends and Potter-readers,thank you ever so much for giving us Harry Potter.
Love and Warm Regards,

Nicoli Vanhattck Magical Law Enforcement | Hey there Jo!
I am 13 years old and I live in Zambia, Africa. I just wanted to thank you for all the hard work you've put into the books and into charity as well. You've most definitely developed your writing style and plots to make Deathly Hallows the most spell bounding book I've ever come across.
I believe that many of my friends and my peers would agree when I say that Harry Potter is a series that has brought great interest into reading and writing. Harry Potter has become a great influence in my country as well as all over the world and I, personally, have gained many friends that also love Harry all over the world.
I still remember that you paid for the shipping of that fire engine! I'm not sure how many lives exactly it has saved but I'm sure it's being used to it's full potential.
Thanks,
Lahiru

Most of my friends and old teachers agree with me, you're one of the best writers ever! Yo'uve helped inspire many people, all over the world. You've given my siblings and I the courage to learn more about ways of writing, and do our own stuff that one day, we're going to try and publish (though it'll be no where near as good as yours is), so we personally thank you. By the way, congratulations on your Pride of Britain award, and your "Most Fascinating Person Of 2007" award! You truly deserve them! Love, Selena, Lilly and Liam, Lyon

Katherine A.P. (Anne Price) Bishop Magical Creatures | Hi Jo.
I wish I could say I've grown up with your books, as so many people can. But I would be lying if I did. I was late in finding the Harry Potter books, but became so immersed in them that the last two or three years of my life have been better. I had an outlet when things were bad at my house, a way of escaping the reality of having a father with ALS that I had to take care of. Sadly, my father is gone now, but I still have Harry Potter to escape to when I am stressed, upset, or just want to be somewhere else.
Thank you for writing these books that have made me laugh, cry, and go through many other emotions along the way. You deserve every honor bestowed upon you.
Best Wishes,
Kristin

Shane O. Dalton Magical Law Enforcement | Dearest Jo,
You have changed my life through your Harry Potter books. Before I picked up your books, I was never a big fan of reading. In fact, I tried to read as little as I could. One day, my best friend Christina handed me her copy of Philosopher's Stone and told me to read it, seeming she was one of the many in our school that was, if you will, hooked on your books. I wasn't interested at all and avoided to even touch the book for a couple of days. I gave it a go shortly after, seeming I was bored and had nothing to do. Looking back, I realize how thankful I am of being bored that day, because I fell in love with Harry Potter and read through the whole book in one sitting. It was great!
From then on, I've been a huge fan of yours and loved the books more and more as each one was released. You've been a great inspiration to me. You've also been a great inspiration to children and adults a like. You have changed the world through your books. I would like to congratulate you on your Pride of Britain award and your "Most Fascinating Person Of 2007" award. You truly deserve these awards!
Thank you for the brilliant journey in the Harry Potter universe!
Love always,

First of all, thank you so much for writing your amazing series that has become so famous the world over. I love books, and I think Harry Potter is truly one of the best series ever written. I've read it over and over since I started reading it at 9 and it never gets old. Many people who would never have touched a book otherwise have started my reading yours, and in the world of today, thats close to miraculous.
You've inspired me to write myself by showing that any obstacles can be overcome if you're really determined. You definitely deserve all the awards and merits given to you and your books. You are truly an inspiration.

I want to grow up and someday write books and I dream to be HALF as successful as you, and I would feel accomplished. If this is too long, tell me and I'll edit.) Dear Mrs. Rowling,
Firstly, I'd like to say thank you for creating one of the best series that I've ever read. Not only are your books fun to read, but they play with my emotions. Any book that can make me love the characters and feel sadness or happiness along with them is one amazing book. There are also good memories for me associated with reading your novels; when I was much younger, my mother read the first book to me.
Secondly, without your books, there would be no websites like Snitchseeker where I could meet other Harry Potter fans and discuss all aspects of your works. Reading them also makes me believe that someday, I might actually be able to create something that will be worth admiring.
