Dear J.K. Rowling,

When you first started scribbling about an orphan boy with magical powers and a lightning scar over 20 years ago, you probably couldn’t imagine where he would take you in the years to follow. Little surprise, then, that when we were first introduced to Harry ourselves, we had no idea the adventures to come. We at SnitchSeeker want to take this opportunity to thank you for giving us your time and energy, your imagination and planning, and mostly… we want to thank you for giving us Harry.

It was Harry who reintroduced us to the joy of the written word and who reminded us of what it felt like to get lost in a created world. When your books served only to whet our thirsts, we picked up other books and met other characters. Harry is the reason some of us love to read, and he is the reminder to others that time with a good book is never time wasted.

From Harry's world, so vividly drawn, we created our own stories, and when we were ready, we created worlds of our own. A whole generation of writers is growing up under your tutelage, and we look forward to the stories they have to tell.

It was Harry who introduced us to passionate fellow readers with which we built a community. Potter fans work together in fun, fellowship, and humanitarian causes, but Harry has and will always be our rallying cry. Whether we're debating good Snape vs. evil Snape, reading fanfiction, role playing, or just being silly in the name of Harry, we can all acknowledge that here we have a safe place to be ourselves.

Harry’s journey is all of our journeys. Those lessons learned along the way, and those voices that spoke into his ear and helped him to grow, became our lessons, our learning. It takes a steady hand to teach about the more harrowing aspects of humanity, to draw a path through the age-old battle of good versus evil, without making the reader feel manipulated or patronized. Through the voice of a child, you spoke to us as equals.

And so we thank you, and we thank Harry, for giving us words and wisdom, for showing us worlds unknown, for helping to shape us as readers and as members of a larger community. Thank you so much for Harry. It’s impossible to imagine a world without you both, and we feel we are better for having known you.

Dear JK Rowling,

Thank-you so much for writing the Harry Potter books and using your talent in a way that can be shared with children throughout the world. I can pick up a Harry Potter book if i'm bored, happy or really moody. It can transport me to another world, one that is so different to my life in ways but so similar in other ways.

On 23rd December 2010, I finished Deathly Hallows. And I reckon I have been a different person since; I have become more confident and love life more. I feel I can relate to the fictional characters that you have written so well just as well as real people. I have learnt with Harry, laughed with Fred and George and cried with everyone at the battle of Hogwarts, in a world made so real by your imagination.

What can I say. I have thought a million, a hundred million, a thousand million times about all the things I would like to say to you; the thanks I would want to give but in truth the words do not exist to allow me to express my gratitude, my love for the universe you have created, the adventures I have been privelidged enough to have taken, the memories I have gained and the wonderul friends I have made because you gave Harry and in turn yourself to the world.

When I picked up that copy of Philosopher's Stone 14 years ago, I had no idea that half my life later, I would still feel that same magic flowing through my veins, that I would still get goose bumps when Hagrid tells Harry he is a wizard and when we get our first 'view' of Hogwarts castle.

I feel that I could try for all eternity to express how your stories, your characters make me feel and still not come close. Saying 'Thank you' just doesn't feel like enough.

You are truly one of the most generous, selfless, giving people that has ever lived and you make me want to be as good a person as you are and for that I am as grateful as a person can be. You've taught generations of kids to love to read, to believe in magic and most importantly to believe in themselves and in humanity.

Thank you so very much J.K. Rowling for such a wonderfully written, well planned out, creative and imaginative series in your Harry Potter Books. They have not only provided me a joyous escape from the mundane every day life, but also offer a common thing to discuss with my kids, family, people I might online and sometimes even complete strangers who are either overheard by me or they overhear us discussing the books and films...from there the convos just start up and next thing you know you've met someone you wind up keeping touch with! Add to that the fun of crafting our own items , role playing, parties, Halloween adventures and numerous other possibilities for decades to come...and soon even Pottermore? It is so kewl you didn't just stop at 'the end'. You proved that nothing you really love has to ever come to an end as long as you keep it in your heart.

Dear Miss Rowling -

Because of your brilliant mind and beautiful way with words and your love for this story, I am who I am today. Some of my earliest, clearest, and happiest memories are of my mother reading books to me in kindergarten, and I distinctly remember being curled up next to my mother listening to the first book. The next year, I picked it up and read it myself, and my mom bought me the Chamber of Secrets as a gift.

Since then, Harry Potter has been the mark of my childhood. I remember getting every book, seeing every movie, meeting amazing people that I never would have met without Harry drawing us together. Harry's story was what I turned to in times of stress or depression as well as whenever I simply wanted to read an amazing story. Thank you for giving me an unforgettable childhood, and something that grew as I did. I am heading off to college this fall, and Harry is certainly something I'm bringing with me - in print, online, and in my heart.

Thank you J K Rowling for bringing back the love of reading to those who spent most of their time playing video and Xbox games. Without your books, many of our young children, youths, and yes even adults, may not have discovered how interesting it was to get "lost" in the world of pages, where each turn of a page brought new wonders. Imagination and creativity would have been lost and would have been replaced instead by computer graphics and animation. I may be an adult now but your books have shown me that it is not embarrassing to be caught reading one of your books. Your books have crossed all barriers of age, race and religious beliefs. We sat down with people we didn't even know to talk about what happened and who died, and we waited anxiously with millions all over the world to find out whether Harry, Hermione and Ron would live and we cried together when we found out that Fred, Remus, Tonks and Snape would die. Thank you very much for all your hard work and for sharing your dreams with us.

Harry Potter came to me in a time of great personal suffering, i was severely bullied and harassed daily. I stumbled across harry potter as i was beginning to read, i read harry in first grade.
Harry gave me my outlet, my escape, my dreams. I remember reenacting scenes from the book after i read them, and sometimes, i talk to harry ron and hermione. In a time when i was alone and desperate, you gave me a place where i belonged, however it is bittersweet. I remember waiting up on my eleventh birthday, at night secretly waiting for my hogwarts letter, that night i cried myself to sleep. However at the same time, i can carry ron hermione and harry with me wherever i go, whether its in the form of a worn out, ragged hard back book, or in my heart.
I must thank you not only for harry, but also my life, for if i hadnt found that salvation when i was so young, who knows where, or if i would be here today. Jo, if youre reading this, i love you, and your a lifesaver, literally.
