Not even a fortnight ago, JK Rowling released 10 different geographical coordinates to Harry Potter Fan Sites, each that gave a little information on things related to Harry Potter and a gigantic letter. On June 15, 2011, Harry Potter fans finally obtained all ten letters, and thus the name "Pottermore" arrived.

And just yesterday, on June 23, Jo finally announced what exactly Pottermore is. Calling it a "digital online experience," Pottermore will be a completely new and innovative way to fall in love with the Harry Potter series, and more. It is a project where fans, and Jo herself, will work together to create a magnificent digital world of the wizard we've all known and cherished. Pottermore will go online in October, though she has stated that a few lucky people will get to be first to work with Pottermore at the end of July.

Despite the introductory video and the few videos from the press conference, what are your thoughts on Pottermore?

I really want to find out more about Pottermore. I know it's meant to be a new website for lots of info on HP and you can get the books now as ebooks but I really want to explore it.

I just want to know how you exactly follow the owl to be one of the first million people to enter the site July 31.

I want to know exactly what it is because at this point I'm just sincerely confused!

I think Jo wants us to be confused, to deepen the mystery As I see it, Pottermore could be some sort of books+behind the books experience, like maybe there would be a list of information that isn't in the books per say, but that Jo mentioned in interviews, or new details about the characters.

Yeah, the video was quite vague and a little misleading. But from what I understand, it's going to be like her official site, with illustrations and animations and some interactive features to the website. Going off the screengrabs of the site that were released, it's also going to be like a game/social network experience where you can find/earn extra info on the books.

Personally, the screengrabs excited me the most

I don't really think I know for sure since it's still kind of...vague to me. I really just hope it's not another social networking site, because I already have Snitch Seeker What I'm hoping for is maybe a site where JKR writes little snippets of things she didn't show in the book, or-like she said-"information she's been hoarding for years"

What I'm looking forward to seeing is how the fans are going to be involved. Gah! In a way, JKR reminds me of Dumbeldore...always so mysterious...but anyways, I can't wait for October!

Yeah same here. My cousin and I teehee stayed up for the "opening", and even then it was super busy.

Hmm A LOT! I think cause it's like everywhere! I told my dad about it and he was like "Oh I know I've heard!" and I was like He said he heard it on the public radio? (MPR)

Well as some of you may know, SS put some more info and videos about the press conference on Pottermore. And this video clears up a lot of confusion! You all can see it here if you haven't already checked them out.

But basically, the entire world of Harry Potter is going to come to life in 3D. That video basically shows us that while you read the book, it will create visualizations that depict the current situation. You will basically get to "explore" the chapters as if you lived them. In the video, they are in the beginning of Sorcerer's Stone and they are in Privet Drive. The guy clicked on something next to the cupboard under the stairs, and a bunch of info on how Petunia and Vernon met and got married and all; that's not in the books!!

So far the 40 screencaps look excellent. I can now understand why it will take so long before CoS can launch. They are really taking a long time on this and lavishing extra care on it. As it should be! These questions to get early access have so far not been crazy or way difficult. Apparently they only get easier after day three? I wish I had internet access on the first day and then I was asleep for the second day. I really want to get in tomorrow, assuming it doesn't open up at 5am my time again like it did today.

So far, everything about Pottermore has the flavor of Jo in it. The carefully contrived hints, the vague announcements, the mystery that leaves us watering at the mouth and barely able to contain our anticipation as we're forced to wait for more. I can tell she has a heavy hand in the proceedings, which is just as it should be, of course! Long live Jo!

Oh I know! They are so well done and detailed! I can't wait to see how the CoS ones turn out because I'm sure they will be just as good, if not better! They said that they are going to switch around the times so hopefully you will be able to get in the first day I had to stay up until 4AM to get in but after all that waiting and lack of sleep I was able to register. Hopefully they will make the clues come out later because it isn't really fair to the other times zones like ours.

Yes! I love it though! Any normal website would just let you in, but this one you have to solve a clue and OH! It's just so well thought out! I honestly can't wait until I get to go on and see what she has done for the site because it seems like she has planned this out for a while.

I do wonder what it means for the lucky 1 million to work on the Beta version. I wonder if we'll actually be "helping" or we'll just get a sneak peak before it's finished? I mean, it's not like we can work on coding and what not.

Yeah I was wondering what the "helping" thing meant. They probably just mean that we get to test the site and all that and make sure it all runs smoothly and what not...hopefully because coding and I do not mix well together...
