Silvermoon Residence (Maura's Home)
 

The exterior of the house is painted a soft, pale blue. As you enter the dark-stained door, you see that the walls and floor are made of cedar. White carpets cover the floors in some rooms, and blue carpets cover the floor in other rooms. Still other rooms have no carpet at all. There are many windows that let in the sunlight that streams down in golden ribbons. Welcome to Maura's house.

"All right!" Maura shouted back from her room. "See you later, Mum!" She got up out of bed and clattered downstairs where she took a right and ended up in the family room. It was a large yet cozy room with a fireplace and lots of comfy chairs, and a long white sofa. Cedar paneling covered the walls, except around the fireplace, where it was brick. The carpet in here was the green-blue of the ocean in the Caribbean. Maura sat on the sofa and reached behind her, where there was a large bookshelf. She pulled out one of her favorite books and started to read.

Ella walked up to the house and knocked on the door. She brushed back the hair from her face.

Ella was wearing a pair of jeans and a purple shirt that said 'Life Is Short, Eat Dessert First'. She had golden light brown hair that fell in waves halfway down her back. She had hazel eyes and a pretty face. Ella was very kind and she had a lot of friends.

She tapped her foot, waiting for someone to answer the door.

Ella heard a familiar voice and turned to face Laylee. "Yeah, I go to Hogwarts," she said. "I'm Ella. We met at that pond at Belle's last year, remember? And then we were having a snowball fight with Biff and making snow angels." She listened as Laylee asked more questions. "Yes, this is Maura's house," she added.

Laylee smiled. "Hello Ella! I didnt know you would be here! How great!" She said walking up to her. She set down her bags and gave her old friend a short hug. "Why are you standing out here?" She asked.

Ella hugged Laylee back. "I'm standing out here because I'm waiting for Maura to answer the door," she said. "And what about you?"

Maura heard a knock on the door. She turned the page of her book idly and continued reading. The knock came again more persistently. Maura looked up and gasped, remembering suddenly. She jumped up, throwing her book on the couch beside her, and ran down the hall and yanked open the door. "I'm so sorry!" she exclaimed, slightly out of breath. "Hi Laylee, hi Ella!" She gave both of them hugs. "Come on in, it's too hot out here." She led them down the entrance corridor into the family room.

Edward knocked on the door of Maura's home. He was wearing a white t-shirt and jeans.

"Oh," said Maura as someone else knocked. "Hang on a minute." She went back to the front door and opened it. "Hi, Edward!" she said brightly. "Come on in."

Edward walked in and said, "This is a nice place"

"Thanks," said Maura. "It was falling apart when we bought it, but we redid the whole thing. Come." She led Edward into the family room, where her friends were waiting. "Edward's here," she announced.

"Hello", he said to everyone. He saw Ella and smiled at her.

Maura slipped past Edward and sat down on the couch. She picked up the book and put it back. She looked around the room and her eyes fell on Ella. "Ohmygod!" she exclaimed. "You have your hair down! It looks great!"

Edward laughed and sat down on an empty couch.

"Thanks," said Ella, following Maura into the house. "Oooh, this is a nice house!"

Ella looked up. "Hi, Edward," she called across the room, patting a spot on the couch next to her, for him to sit down.

Ella grinned back at Edward.

Ella grinned again. "Thanks," she said, brushing her hair out of her eyes again.

Ella frowned. "Aaaw," she said in mock whining. "You aren't sitting with me."

Maura laughed at the exchanges between Ella and Edward. She turned to Laylee. "So how has your summer been so far?" she asked, hugging her again.

Maura smiled. "Thank you," she said again. "My family, we like white and blue, and those colors go beautifully with cedar." She took Laylee's bag and put it carefully on one of the end tables, making sure nothing fell out. She then looked back. "Oh, I'm sorry," she said. "Laylee, this is Edward Moon, Edward this is Laylee Russell." She turned back to Laylee. "Yes, I was sad to leave all my friends behind." She smiled and shook her head. "No, she's touring this summer, and preparing to release a second album. The first was a bestseller."

"Who's Phoebe?" asked Ella, curious.

Maura nodded, smiling. "I know, she was thrilled when she told us. But unfortunately it means she'll be busy all summer." She grinned. "Oh, yeah. Remember all those prank letters we sent her?" she asked. "She got them."

Maura turned to Ella. "Phoebe?" she asked. "She's my cousin. Phoebe Elmwood. She's a famous Wizarding singer, have you heard of her?" she asked, looking at Ella and then at Edward to communicate that the question was for both of them.

"Oh, yes!" said Ella. "Now I remember her..... wow, she's your cousin? Awesome!"

Maura laughed. "Yeah, no one ever believes me because I can't sing to save my life!" She shifted Laylee's things, which were threatening to fall off the end table.
