On Christmas holidays, Helena decided to head back to her grandparents neighborhood in Bulgaria, only to find that they had perished a few weeks before in a car accident.

But they left her their house and everything in it. So now, she's working on fixing up the place on her own, cleaning and renovating the old mostly.

The two-story Victorian is high-end, made with the finest cut wood, polished to perfection. It's quite large - a grand entry way, parlor, library, kitchen, and dining room on the first floor and five bedrooms and two bathrooms on the second - but she's loving having her own place.

Chris walked up to the house. Ok this had to be the place right? He was pretty sure it was I mean Lena and him had talked about the neighborhood in Bulgaria. He then remembered he had her note in his pocket. Okay that will work. He looked at it and the address. Umm yep this was it. He then walked up to the door and knocked. He stood and put his hands in his pockets.

Helena heard a knock on the door and stopped her brush mid-stroke. She looked at the half-painted wall before her and chuckles slightly, putting down the brush. She shouted, Be there in a minute! as she ran down the steps, trying to wipe off the smudged baby blue paint off her face, and finally opened the door, a little surprised to see Chris. Her smile was wide, though. Hi, she said, a bit breathlessly.

Chris heard Lena yell she would be there in a minute. He waited until she opened the door and saw she was out of breath. "Hey. Looks like you're still trying to fix the place up. I was just wonder if you were going to need help at all." He told Lena.

Helena chuckled and stood aside as she said, Come on in, but I didn't want you to come expecting to be put to work. She smiled slightly, happy that the living room, at least, was done. True, it was a little old-fashioned, but it would do. Do you want something to drink? Iced tea, lemonade....?

Chris walked in. "Na it's alright if you really need help don't be shy asking, but if you don't need help I guess I could just stay and hang out for a bit." He smiling back. "You know this is a nice place. A little old fashion but nice." He told Lena. "I'm alright thanks." He told her.

Helena smiled and shut the door as he walked in. I like the work, so hanging out is cool. She walked back in after him and motioned to the couch. You can sit down you know, she said with a slight laugh as she sat herself in an armchair. Thanks. It's homey, I guess.

Chris nodded. "Alright then." He said as he kepted looking around. It really was a nice place but does she get lonely just her by herself all the time. "Oh right." He said chuckled as he sat himself in and armchair next to Lena. "Yeah it is. But aren't you going to get lonely like over the summer where it's just you here and nobody else?" He asked.

Helena shrugged slightly and settled back into her chair, enjoying the comfort. Possibly, but I will be busy, so time will pass. Besides, I'll have muggle things like television and such to keep me busy. She chuckled slightly and added, And you are welcome to stop by anytime, of course.

"Yeah time does pass when your busy. And muggle stuff always helps." Chris said and shrugged. "Umm well I will be sure to drop by." He told Lena smiling. "So how do you like being back in Bulgaria? Getting use to the cold again?" He asked with a sly smile.

Helena laughed slightly, but nodded. Yeah, and unfortunately, at that. She chuckled slightly and brushed a piece of hair out of her face, unknowingly smudging a bit more paint on her cheek. So what have you been up to on holiday?

Chris chuckled. "Oh come on it's really not that bad. A little cold never hurt anyone." He told her. Then he noticed Lena smudged a little bit of paint on to her cheek. He started laughing. "You got a little paint on your cheek." He said. "Here." He said as he took his thumb and wiped off the paint. He then sat back and smiled towards Lena "Umm nothing much just spending time with family mostly." And Melinda.

Helena laughed slightly and said sheepishly, Okay, it's not that bad. As he wiped the paint off her face, though, she couldn't stop her heart from speeding up a little, but she knew it meant nothing. That's good. I hope they're all doing well?

Chris smiled. "See I knew it. Cold is just something you learn to deal with. As you know." He told Lena still smiling. "Yeah yeah. They are fine so is this what you been doing all vaction? Fixing up this place?" He asked looking around the house again.

Helena chuckled slightly and shrugged. I guess so. At his family's mention she said, Good, good. Yep. This is pretty much what I've been doing. Well, the occasional homework assigned over break and even some television, but you know me - I'm always up and moving around. It was actually kind of nice for her.

"Well the place looks good." Chris said nodded. Alright Kaplan just ask her it's not that hard. But if a fight breaks out, it would be kind of fun to watch at first then later it would suck. Maybe I could have Nick sit between the two of them,I mean how could fight with a little kid right there? "So I was wondering if you want you don't have to say yes but....umm if you wanted to come over to my house for Christmas dinner? Like I said you don't have to. I just thought since you were alone...." He said and lost his words. "I'm rambling sorry." He said.

Thanks, Helena smiled. She looked questioningly at him as he began his question and then laughed at the end. It's okay. I'd love to Chris, thank you so much for offering. Her smile became only slight as she vaguely wondered what the reason behind this was. As long as your parents don't mind, of course, she added quickly, not wishing to be rude or imposing.

Wait did she just say yes, as in she will come? That was good right? "It's no problem really. I just didn't think you want to spend Christmas alone." Chris said. "Na they don't mind. They thought it was a good idea. They are happy to have you come." He said told her reassuringly

Helena smiled, feeling happy - much happier than usual. And her blue eyes edged closer to green, almost fully, but not quite. Well, thank you - again. I so appreciate it. The air ran thick with silence, and suddenly Helena was at a loss for words for one of the only times in her life.

Chris watched as Lena's eyes changed colors everytime it happened he couldn't help but stare at her eyes. "It's really no problem. I just hope you don't mind a hyper seven year old running around." He said as he broke his gaze slightly at her eyes and laughed.

Helena chuckled, still smiling widely, and said, Of course not, I love kids. She didn't really understand why, but it was just something that was always in her. She babysat a lot right before she moved to the UK.

Chris rised an eyebrow. "Really. I did not know that about you. Well you don't have younger siblings do you? So what you did you babysit?" He asked as he noticed Lena still smiling wide towards. He smiled back just as wide.

Helena saw his wide smile and realized that she, herself, was smiling just as wide. She blushed slightly and returned herself to a normal smile. At his question, though, she nodded. Yeah - right before I moved to London I started. One of my house-keepers suggested it to keep me busy. She smiled at the fact that he hadn't known this about her.

Did she just blush? Hmm yep she did. Wonder why though? Not like Chris had said anything to make her blush. Oh well. "You must have like kids a lot to be able to do that. Don't get me wrong I love kids but after awhile I just want to get ride of them." He said to Lena and chuckled.

Helena laughed slightly and shrugged. I dunno. It's just something that's always felt really natural for me - being able to keep kids occupied and babysitting with as little frustration as possible. If they did get rowdy, it was a completely different story. But of all the times she'd watched her neighbors kids, they were great for her.
