In Southwestern Wales there is a town that fans of all ages rush to see their famous Quidditch team battle it out to be the top of the British and Irish League. The Caerphilly Catapults facility is complete with pitch, amazingly new stands for everyone's comfort, concessions stands, two locker rooms, and in the far side of the facility is the offices of the Catapults Public Relations, Mascot department, Manager, and owner. In this facility the team will learn more about each other and how to really work together to be the top team in the league.

First Scene

It is November and the Quidditch season is in full swing. The match over the weekend didn't go as well as they all hoped and the Catapults lost to the Arrows in a close points match. Their wonderful manager put a notice up in the locker room before Monday's practice that there will be a mandatory team meeting directly after practice. Now that practice is done the team is just waiting on their manager to show up.

He did not know if he was entirely happy about this. This team clearly had better standings than Portree. Arthur was worried that he was going to bring them all down by not working hard enough.

He took a deep breath. Exhaleee. He knocked on the door of the Manager's office before peeking in. "Hello Ms Maroon," he smiled nervously. Was he late? Nope, he was just on time. Focus, Arthur.

Her heels clicked as she made her way around the desk and stuck out her hand. "I've been following your last few matches Mr. Lee and you should feel privileged to be standing here."

With the Magpies ending their season directly under the Catapults it wasn't a huge difference but she would surely make it out to be a huge thing. Plus she had high expectations for this season, they all better be improving during off season.

Sitting on the edge of her desk she looked directly at him. "Have a seat Mr. Lee so we can discuss your contract." She had a few things she always discussed with her players, especially now that a few things had come up with her female players. She really should have rewrote their contracts to word them differently before they signed them last week, but she could use them as advantage too. Distractions could always be lovely.

She had bee in her office looking over the stats, it wasn't that she was fully hateful over her team this season. No they weren't there just yet, but they had to do better. This was very unacceptable. She would not be humiliated by her chasers. Yes it was her chasers that were the issue and possibly the beaters. Though they had been doing fairly well. No she'd focus more on the chasers and her keeper. It might be time to bench a few and see what the reserves could do if these lack of points kept up.

Knowing practice was close to being over she made her way down to the locker room. She was going to hold a meeting whether they liked it or not. Move over coach Rebecca was in the building. She would fix this and they would start playing better or there would be a few contracts not getting renewed next season. Maybe a new Captain as well if this one didn't start stepping it up a bit more.

Walking into the locker room she turned her nose and flicked her wand. She hated the smell of locker rooms. They were wizards why couldn't they vanish their stink, it was just ridiculous. Looking around she found the best place to stand and tap her shiny black shoes until the team was there.

Arthur thought the Catapults were doing pretty good. They were maintaining a great record, even though their ranking was not as high as he would have liked.

He should have known that Rebecca was not happy about this.

The chaser sighed as he walked into the locker room, barely noticing that the smell that usually hung around had vanished. "Hi," he gave a small smile, then moved over to stand near the wall opposite their manager. With every tap her shiny shoes made, his pulse beat faster - she was going to KILL them.

Sigh. A meeting with their manager after practice, really? Esme had a feeling that Rebecca was not very happy - did she ever call a meeting when she was? - but the chaser did not really know why. They won their last game even if it was a personal disaster for herself. She hated playing against her boyfriend with the tension it caused them when the Cannons lost, even if they made up well afterwards. She'd need to figure something out for next season.

Esme pushed those thoughts out of her head as she headed back into the locker room. She really could use a shower after their intense practice and she rather hoped that Rebecca wouldn't already be there waiting for them so she'd have time for that. The 27 year old was sure she wouldn't be so lucky though.

She saw one of her fellow chasers had beat her inside and she gave him a half-smile. "Lee." She'd have to admit that he fell in pretty easily with her and Cheri as the chaser trio, knowing it did take new players a little time to get used to each other. She was about to ask him what he thought this might be about when she saw their manager was already there.. so she gave her an acknowledging nod. "Rebecca."

Practice was practice and Fitzory had come down off his broom and headed to the locker room. He mostly kept to himself and tried to just play his best. Being on the team for awhile he knew how to lay low from and Rebecca was certainly one of those people. He knew his keeping needed to get better, he was letting too many get past him for points, but he felt he wasn't doing that horrible. So he walked into the locker room and did an inner sigh seeing the woman already standing there.

Moving over closer to his locker he gave her a nod not to be rude and then opened it. If she was going to stand there right when they got back she'd at least have to know he was going to grab a towel to wipe the sweet off of him. Cold weather or not it was a workout catching and saving Quaffles from his own chasers.

Tap... tap... tap

She kept tapping her foot annoyed the coach was taking so long with practice knowing she was there. She had ~~lives to ruin~~ things to do. She didn't have all day and her time was precious whether theirs were or not.

FINALLY

The team started to come in very slowly. She looked around and waited for them, but her waiting was never very patient. "Sit down." She gave them all pointed looks and yes was very nice. "You have been winning matches, bet you are very proud of yourselves for that." Her eyes moved around and landed on her captain. "I wouldn't be celebrating too much. Even with that win against the Cannons you have not been getting the points needed for the point race. Who cares if you win every game if you can't get any points? The points have been too close too, which tells me we are letting way too many goals get through." Her eyes now were burning through Hamilton and her beaters. Wait were they here yet?

Right. Esme should have known that she'd have to wait for her much needed shower but, as the entire team wasn't quite all there yet and surely Rebecca wouldn't start before that, the chaser could at least retrieve her things from her locker in anticipation. Her grey eyes shifted towards Fitz as he walked in and she gave him a significant look before opening her locker. She pulled out her clothes that she intended to change into then glanced at Rebecca as she finally spoke.

Okay. Clothes still in her folded arms, Esme took her time in taking a seat on the bench before focusing her attention on the team manager. Actually she was kind of proud of their win-loss record and they might not be right on top but they were up there, And so she raised her eyebrows a bit when Rebecca glared at her, but she held her gaze.

Oh she just had to bring up the Cannons game, didn't she? It was like Rebecca knew that would be a sore point with her and she averted her eyes, letting out a soft sigh. "But we do get points." Esme looked up sharply as Rebecca tried to say differently. "I think us chasers do rather well in that, considering we just got a new one right before season started and we've developed a good rapport pretty quickly." She just could not cut them any kind of slack, could she? In fact, Esme thought the entire team was doing very well, even the new seeker who had such a poor season last year with the Kestrels. Honestly, what did that woman want from them? Esme wondered if Rebecca ever played a game of Quidditch a day in her life. Snort.

Fitz couldn't do anything but just stare at Rebecca. The woman was a jerk, but he wasn't one to speak up with women so he stayed quietly observing. When she said to sit he automatically sat as if he was in school again. He respect leaders and even if he didn't agree with her she was their leader.

As she complained about points his eyes moved around trying not to make eye contact. He didn't think he was doing that bad, but she probably was right about letting too many get past. They weren't first and that's all she cared about. They had plenty of games coming up he could improve and he would. He had been on the team for awhile now and knew he showed his worth, but he'd have to find some time to practice a bit more.

This was one of her favorite parts. The moment someone spoke up against her and her captain had the nerve to do so. She left her eyes on Hamilton a bit longer, the man was nice to look at, before turning her gaze back to Esme. "You do get points, but not enough. We are currently in eight place that is not good enough." She went back to tapping her shoes across the floor as she made her way over towards the coach.

"I can see Fitzpatrick isn't doing his job, so again like always I need to step in." She really should look to hire a new coach, this ones contract was up soon. Yes she'd be most likely looking into that next season if this one didn't turn around. "I'm not someone who won't own up to my mistakes and I have seemed to make a big one." No really, but she'd go with it that way for the dramatics. "We gained a new Seeker right before season started even with an awful season last year. I still stick with my choice of bringing Mr. Madsen on, but think he could use some training before joining my starters." He had been winning but his quick snitch catches were killing them in points. "So I've brought a new starter in and Mr. Madsen will be reserve for now on. So please make Miss Richards feel welcome."

See Kieran keeping them on their toes, it was her specialty.

Where were his teammates? Surely they would not let him be in this meeting alone with Rebecca. Indeed, one of his fellow chasers and Captain headed into the locker room before long. "Esme," Arthur said with a smile. He was very grateful to her for helping him get used to the team ~~and its Manager~~. She was also really pretty - not that it mattered right now.

He gave Fitzory a smile which was probably ignored, then watched as the two players grabbed things from their lockers. Although he also wanted to take his towel and change of clothes out, he did not dare in case Rebecca had a problem with that too. So he stayed in his corner and waited for the rest of the team to come in. Soon, she began speaking. He silently did as he was told and took a seat next to Esme. He almost smiled at the mention of their wins, especially the one against the Cannons, but of course there was the ranking.

His eyes were still focusing on Rebecca as the older Chaser spoke up. Arthur nodded in agreement. He thought he and the entire team was trying their best. Apparently to their team manager, nothing was every good enough for her.

What did Tybalt do? He was not going to be fired, was he? If the low ranking was anybody's fault, it was the players', not the coach's. And Erik… he was very good, too good almost for the Chasers to gain more points. That was no reason for him to be pushed back as a Reserve. Arthur clasped his hands together and looked around for the Richards woman.

Oh Joe was here. But quiet. He was doing his part after all. And really, the whole season was a bit of a joke wasn't it? Top teams were struggling and somedamnedhow last season's dead last place team was now way ahead in first. Matchfixing maybe? Who knew? Joe got paid and got to play and that was the most important thing for him. As for the new seeker thing, well that didn't make a jot of difference to him since no matter who the seeker was his job was to keep the bludgers away from them.

He stayed unapologetically quiet but listened to everything. At least their GSA was in the green, right?

Of course it wasn't. Second place wouldn't be good enough. Nothing would unless it was first and they would always be berated for it. Esme watched as Rebecca moved towards the coach, wondering what bright ideas for changes she had now. Was she about to lose her job? Sure, she just resigned her contract, but the woman seemed to have ways of getting around things to suit her every whim.

Oh. Wow. Her grey eyes landed on Erik for a moment, feeling shock and sympathy. She knew he was doing rather well, much better than he was last season with the Kestrels, what was Rebecca even doing? She really made no sense to the 27 year old at all. Esme looked for the new seeker. Was this Miss Richards here today? That name was unfamiliar to her so she wondered from where she was acquired. But yeah, she'd try to make her feel welcome as she tried to do for all the new members of the team. There sure seemed to be a lot of them since Rebecca took over as manager.

She honestly didn't know what to expect. She was traded to a team from a whole other country. She had that year off since the accident with her sister. She ended up with her then eight year old niece. Which was why she took the time off. That was a big adjustment for both of them. They hold her that she could come back and play. Just not for them.

Hints why she was standing an new locker room with a new team with a manager that made her want to send that egotistical donkey of a former manager flowers and a I miss you card. Yeah just when she thought that she couldn't be as bad as the former. She could not believe the way she was talking to her players.

Karly thought that the team was very good. Though she didn't see too much of them, but from what she did she didn't see why Rebecca was flipping out. Standings could change quickly in the sport eighth place could be a third place the next week.

Oh crap. She was talking about her. She looked around. Thankfully she was in the back and no one was look at her. Or not some looked around and they got a little waved.

Shocked were they?

That was the thoughts that came to her mind as she looked at them all. "That's all I have for now. So change, mingle, do whatever it is that you do. Just please start leaving the stink of the pitch." They were aware that they all smelled horrible, right? She glanced at the all and as she made it to the door, "Tupper, Joe, bonus to which ever can knock the seeker out of the match first in our next game." She wasn't one to play all that clean and most of them should have known that by now, but she gave a grin of joking in case some goodie goodies had to get their whiny pants on.

Exiting the room she called back, "Fitzpatrick in my office now." She had some words for the coach she'd discuss without the team around. She was starting to see more personal lives in the papers again and that wasn't something she was going to stand for on her team. She'd get to the bottom of it today.

The woman was horrid and words couldn't even describe how he felt about her, but Fitz stayed quiet and calm as she ranted and went on about things. His eyes did widen as she said about paying the beaters more money for what sounded like hurting someone. His head shaking he just looked back into his locker. "You all are playing great, ya know."He finally glanced around the locker room, "We can't let her get to us." He'd have to stop more goals from going through though, keep her off everyone's back maybe.

Finally standing he made his way towards the new seeker, but not before stopping at Arthur, "Great throws out there today. You and Esme both. I think you three chasers have really gotten a good form down now." He felt the need to be positive after what had just left. Taking a deep breath he wondered why the new one had to be a woman. He got so nervous around them and then he always sounded so dumb. "Welcome to the team."

It was nice to come to the pitch during the off-season once in a while for a little exercise. It was so much quieter with little chance of anyone else being there, though Esme wouldn't have minded the company. Depending on who it was of course.

Today the 27 year old chaser was in an exceptionally good mood as she left a note for Cheri in her locker then took to the pitch to run a few laps. Flying a few laps would come after that but for now she wanted to keep her feet on the ground. As she turned into the curve at one end of the pitch, she half hoped she'd see a teammate to have a running buddy but for now she took advantage of the quiet as she ran through some wedding details in her mind.

Fitz had a lot on his mind and one place he knew he could clear it was the pitch. Hopefully the blonde nightmare wasn't around to cause issues as he was just trying to enjoy the off season. Stopping by the locker room he grabbed his broom and then headed out to the pitch. Not paying attention he was about to take off when he saw something out of the corner of his eye.

Looking again he noticed that Esme had been doing laps. "What are you doing? Wedding workout?" He cracked a smile jokingly. He had been friends with both of them on the team and was a bit surprised when Giles had asked him to be in it.

After a few running laps on the ground, Esme was good and warmed up enough to take to her broom. She was rounding the far edge of the pitch on her first lap when she noticed she had someone join her. Smiling, she noticed it was one of her teammates and he was one she was happy to have as company. Flying a bit faster, she flew up next to him.

"Maybe," she chuckled, giving him a knowing smile. "I do want to look my best and my dress is pretty amazing." Esme was working hard to make her special day as memorable as possible, and she did intend to look flawless. Keeping in shape was a must.

"What about you? You aren't here for the same reason, are you?" Of course she was joking. She was sure Giles wasn't keeping strict watch on his groomsmen's figures.

He chuckled at her words, [b] "I really don't think you will have to work that hard."[/b[ She was a very pretty woman and Fitz assumed she wouldn't be getting that far out of shape during the off season. His eyes grew a moment until he realized what she meant, "Oh but of course, got to look my best in that dress too." He laughed jokingly.

Getting on his broom he flew up a bit, "Just here to clear my mind. It's always the best place to think." He had to think about things, he knew he had no chances in hell with Kitty, but there was just something about her.

"Race you a few laps."

Oh, Fitz was always so sweet and Esme couldn't help but to smile at his compliment. "Well, thanks. I do enjoy keeping in shape though." Not that she was ready to be done playing Quidditch anytime soon, but even when she did retire, she was sure she'd still remain somewhat athletic. She couldn't imagine letting herself go.

Esme gave him a slightly curious look as he seemed taken off guard by her joking, until he laughed himself and she joined in on his laughter. "I'm sure Giles will appreciate that, I know I will," she added with a wink. Her laughter subsiding, she gave Fitz a smile and nodded. "I've always found that to be true, especially when the pitch is empty." She'd come to practice early on more than one occasion for that very purpose. "Hope there's nothing too heavy weighing on your mind?"

She grinned at his suggestion. "Thought you'd never ask." Taking off from her hovering spot net to him, she sped off down the pitch.

He got on his broom and watched to see if Esme was following giving her a smile and a chuckle at her words. "Well the season is coming, so best to stay in shape for that too. Though I know the dress is probably more important right now." He knew women liked that sort of stuff, though he wasn't sure he'd like the whole wedding day thing. "Have you heard if anyone is being traded or retiring?" He hadn't, which was good. He always had a fear that his time on the team would be up.

Getting up in the air he took off towards the other end of the pitch, turning slowly and looking towards Esme, "Yes, it is very nice when no one else is around." He looked down half expecting the rest of the team to come in, but knowing they wouldn't with it being off season. "If you are quiet enough you can hear the sound of Rebecca getting mad." He chuckled at his own joke.

Scratching the back of his head he thought a moment. How did you explain what was going on in his head. "Well I guess you could say it's about a lady I've been seeing.It's just a bit complicated." He wasn't even sure how to explain it really.

Her heels clicked as she walked down the corridor of the facility. Mind in a million different places. She had been quiet this off season for the most part and quiet for the beginning of the season. No threats or lectures towards the team, no, her time had been filled with paperwork and reporters in her face. Her investigation wasn't something she wanted to overshadow her team and the season so Rebecca was sticking to her office most of the time.

Today though she felt like watching practice. Just because she was being quiet didn't mean she had nothing to say. She had been watching and keeping up with her team so she had plenty to say.

Esme was slightly on edge as she started practice today. She had quite a few things on her mind regarding her personal life and, despite their recent wins, she felt that she wasn't playing her personal best. She had felt a bit distracted and it concerned her that Rebecca had been unusually quiet lately. It also made her wonder if the rumors were true. If that were the case, maybe it was a good thing and she would remain quiet. Or maybe it was the calm before the storm.

After running a few laps silently and keeping to herself, Esme got on her broom and kicked off. She circled the lap a few times before catching the quaffle as it was tossed to her by one of her teammates. Her sights set on the goal, she tucked the ball under her arm as she headed for the hoops.

After the night she had last night she really hoped that practice would go well. So what she had gotten only a few hours sleep. So what she saw the manager of the team that she just joined a few months ago spotted her at the bar. She could push past that easily. There was one that thing that Seraphina wasn't able to push past and that was the fact that she had went out drinking during the week. That was very unlike her.

Phina walked into the locker room and changed into her practice clothes. She was going to go for a little run but she had already done that at home as soon as she woke up. The brunette grabbed her broom and went out to the pitch. It was time to do a few laps. She looked around and saw one of her teammate, Phina mounted her broom and kicked off.

Karly was already up in the air. She was just doing some laps before she released the snitch. She had been on the team less than two years now and knew that she had to get straight to work. Knowing how things went around here, though this season had been quiet their manager was surprisingly quiet so far. Kar wasn't sure how long that was going to last. She liked doing laps first before releasing the snitch it gave her time to warm up.

She had spent a good part of her morning in the gym as usual. Just part of her daily routine. As soon as Valerie was at school she hit the gym.

Karly flew down to go let the snitch out. Once she opened the compartment where the snitch was she watched the snitch zoom off and got back up in the air. Brown eyes scanning the pitch for a glimmer of the tiny gold ball.

Her heels clicked the rest of the way down the corridor and she took a sharp turn heading out on the pitch. "Don't get your pants in a bunch. I do sign your paychecks." She glared at the coach before looking up. She could feel the annoyance the minute she was in eye's view. She had been leaving them alone way too much, it was time to watch a practice. This was still her team ~~for now~~ and she would be managing them however she damn well pleased.

Seeing some of the players there she looked at her watch and figured they would be starting soon. "I hope you don't tolerate lateness." Giving the ones on the ground a glare before turning and making her way to the stands.

She pulled her parchment out and took a seat. She knew people had heard what was going on around her and she needed to show the team she wasn't going down quietly and they weren't getting to have a free season without her. Though she wasn't the only one that had been in the papers. She had just seen a recent copy of WHIM, that reminded her, where was her lovely beaters. Watching the few up in the air she began making notes.

Fitz had been int he air doing laps. He saw a few more showing up so he decided to get up near the goals in case the chasers wanted to give a go at him. "Think you can beat me today?" He called out as he got into position.

Seeing the familiar blonde in the stands he rolled his eyes, "Wonder what brings us the pleasure of her here today?" He stated towards Karly who had just joined him on that side of the pitch.

He was on time thanks, and warmed up already, but he'd noticed his bat had a crack in it, so he'd gone to get his spare. Wouldn't do to have a cracked bat. Oh look, Rebecca was here. He gave her a jaunty wink and joined his teammates on the pitch.

Yep, Joe was in a good mood.
